apparent owner of this dog and the dog had been dyed red to be sold as a novelty. so after the discussion, the animal activist agreed with this guy that they'd take it and get it checked out. >> who thinks that's a good idea to dye a dog with chemicals? i mean it makes no sense. it seems abuse zblif welive. >> i think it's fair what did they use to dye the dog. >> they did take it to the vet and determine that they did use human hair dye which we know is very toxic to dogs. but don't worry, there were no skin irritation because of it. you see him getting a nice little bath and the hair dye is coming off. it will take some time, but the hair dye will eventually fade off and completely fall off. and here it is with what looks like mostly its natural color. >> that's a beautiful blonde

cleaning it up. once he's got that canvas completely off its original frame, he takes single fibers and places them one after the other to create essentially a patch for this painting. >> like surgery. >> you want to stop the hole from growing. >> once he has finished fixing those tears, he goes back to redo the outer edge of the canvas so that he can frame it yet again. >> he uses some very delicate, very special chemicals to clean the painting. >> this is really, really interesting, but i'm also kind of surprised that they do this. i would think that the natural patina, the 150 years of wear adds to the piece. i wouldn't expect it to look perfect. >> i get what you mean, nick. i think the point of it is to show people beauty of the original and to maintain that 150 years further on. >> i would be terrified to touch this stuff. he's a modern master. >> it's a remasterpiece. >> yeah.
