to yesterday. low 90s at the bay. sunset 7:26 and clear skies but a bigger cool down is on the way and i'll have details coming up, chris. >> frances, thanks. more than 100 homes are in danger because of a wildfire burning in napa county. evacuation orders are in order. the snell fire has burned 1700 acres and is 10% contained. abc news news reporter carla is near the fire. >> reporter: the fires to intensify around 200 homes in this neighborhood threatened and under mandatory e verdivacuatio orders. sharon and don heeded the warning packing up what they could and watch the plume of smoke from a safe distance. >> you live in this community for 24 hours and in a matter of

minutes, things could go. so they are possessions that could be replaced. >> reporter: some decided to stay behind. >> we kept getting our stuff ready in case we have to leave. >> reporter: one resident took a garden hose and sprayed down her house, a last-minute effort to protect her property. >> we've seen time and time again people wait until the last minute and that's really what we don't want to see happen in incidents like this with small winding canyon areas with homes that are difficult to get to. >> reporter: fire crews moved in as many resources as possible to save homes. a big part of the fire fight happening from the air. >> had several air tankers, upwards of ten air tankers fighting this fire and a significant amount of resources on the ground. dozens, hand crews converging to get this under control as quickly as possible. >> reporter: the latest pattern of what is an active fire season. there is an evacuation center

nearby at the pope valley farm center. in the meantime, firefighters hope the weather cooperates to make progress on this fire. in napa county, carlos abc 7 news. the delta fire continues to burn. 50 miles of interstate 5 is closed. crews hope to come up with a plan for the reopening. the delta fire has burned more than 40,000 acres. there is still in containment but with the slight change in the weather, firefighters hope to gain more ground and contain the flames. >> the biggest challenge we're looking at is the fire behavior. we hope for slightly more moderate fire behavior, less extreme with the slight weather changes that we've seen. >> firefighters say the burn areas are a challenge to work in because of the rough terrain and there isn't a good road system in place in case they need to outrun the flames. anti ss-semitic flyers have

been found at five goin synagogues. >> we've seen a sharp uptick. >> reporter: regional direct to have of the anti defamation league says somebody placed these flyers at five east bay synagogues. >> it's important to shine a light on hate. >> reporter: brisk says the group mentioned on the involved with the white s supremacist rally last year. >> they used to hide behind hoods back in the day when it was the kkk. now people tend to hide behind the internet or social media. >> reporter: temple beth sholom found the flier outside the synagogue last week. >> i was very surprised to hear that news. it's a very quiet neighborhood.

>> reporter: the police department is aware of the flier and while there are no specific threats of violence, the department will increase patrols around the synagogue. it's something they do every year during the high holidays. the temple released this statement, quote, these hate groups stand for the very opposite of our values of love and inclusivity. we're fortunate to have a warm and close knit community that will not be cowed by attempts to intimidate. we wish our entire community a sweet and happy new year. >> hopefully it doesn't escalate and hopefully we can put an end to it and put an end to this. >> while they are small, they do exist and they have felt emboldened in the recent political climate to express themselves. >> reporter: the adl says propaganda like this should be reported to the organization and local police to be identified. similar flyers were found in michigan. about 30,000 people filled the streets of san francisco

yesterday demanding world leaders do more to protect the environment. this video from sky 7 shows you the size of the crowd that went down market street. this was one of the largest gathering in a global day of action. here is abc 7 news bernard with the message activists want to get across. >> reporter: the drum beat for change echoed down the street in san francisco. sky 7 showed thousands of people taking a stand and marching against climate change. parent amber kerr is worried about her kids' future. >> they are 2 and 5 years old and the world will look different by the time they are my age, let alone my grandparents' age. >> reporter: he traveled from uganda to say it's happening worldwide. >> it's not just about one country, one area, one people. the planet is one. >> it's been a year of historic

wildfires. there is drought in many parts of the world, sea levels are rising. >> reporter: the march comes days before world leaders, researchers and activists arrive for a global climate summit organized by the u.n. and governor jerry green. >> we're here to demand elected leaders do more about client change. >> reporter: there is two bills to block the offshore oil drilling expansion and the governor said the message to the trump administration is simple, not here, not now. we will not let the federal government pillage public lands but some say that's not enough because the governor is approving on shore drilling projects throughout the state. >> we need governor brown to set a new bar by saying no to new oil wells. >> reporter: moving away from fossil fuels toward removable energy is a movement even dinosaurs seem to like. there are street murals in

most offering solutions to climate change made with clay-based non-toxic paint and they hope they stick around in time for next week's summit. cornell bernard. an effort to protect oceans is making its way to the middle of the pacific. sky 7 flew over the bay as this boom began the trek into the ocean. the 24-year-old dutch inventor is hoping the boom will corral plastic litter between california and hawaii. >> we love the marine life so we want to save them from the harmful plastic out there so all of the design we've done is with that in mind. we don't want to harm, we want to save them. >> the organization believes the great pacific garbage patch can be cut in half. people felt a rumble, a 2.8

magnitude earthquake hit. it was in oakland, people felt reporting a quick shake but no damage or injuries. it caught the attention of many people. look at the reaction. one person compared it to a big truck going by her house and another person said a car hit a wall in a garage or someone dropped a large piece of furniture and this sums it up well, felt that one. happening today, the annual pride parade and festival in oakland. this is video from last year. today's event kicks off at 11:00 a.m. and will end at 20th and broadway. it's free to watch. 10 bucks to get into the festival. there will be food, drinks, performers and vendors and the performers will be on four different stages, frances, so a lot of people heading out later this morning for the event and should be fun. >> yeah, it will be sunny much like yesterday. cooler if you're headed to this up to the low 70s.

hurting. yesterday was cannabis education day. abc 7 news was there as marijuana advocates, retailers and community groups set up booths for residents to check out. every contra costa city voted to legalize recreational marijuana but organizers say no cities east of the tunnel have permitted cannabis manufacturers or retailers to exist. the goal of yesterday was to work toward fixing that. >> that's one of the things we're doing today is getting out into the park and letting people see how normalized we really are. we're your neighbors, we're here to help you. >> reporter: concord's mayor provided opening remarks. the mayor of walnut creek par participated in a panel. it's finally over, every piece of the bay bridge that needed to be removed is gone. in a matter of seconds

yesterday, caltrans successfully imploded the last two remaining piers. traffic on the bridge was tem e temporary stopped and the bike path was closed. take a look at the dark cloudy debris and sediment kicked up. four foundations will be left in place to observation platforms and boardwalks as part of a new park. tropical storm florence is expected to become a major hurricane tomorrow as it approaches the east coast. florence is expected to travel between bermuda and bahamas tuesday and wednesday before approaching the southeastern states on thursday. virginia, north carolina and south carolina have already declared states of emergency. another hurricane is making its way towards hawaii but this one is weaken to a tropical storm when it reaches the islands next week. nonetheless, members of the bay areas task force three based on

the peninsula are returning for preparation of hurricane olivia. the 36-member team was just in hawaii for hurricane lane last month. welcome back. i wanted to show you the track for hurricane olivia that chris just mentioned. so we'll check out hurricane olivia, which is a category one right now. it is heading directly west towards hawaii and then it is expected to drop to tropical storm strength by tuesday as it heads towards the hawaiian islands. chris was talking about tropical storm florence in the atlantic. here is where it is right now and it is expected to gain hurricane level strength up to a category four moving with 140 mile per hour winds heading towards the carolinas as you can see along the east coast and the center of the hurricane can travel anywhere in that cone. so that's why you can see virginia is getting ready, as well. here is a look at live doppler 7

back to local weather for us. another gorgeous day. we have low clouds to contend with along the coast and that will start to spread, as well during sunrise. so the next couple hours but it is confined mainly to the coast right now. here is a live shot looking down at san francisco. look how clear it is. it will be a sunny, bright day once again. it's 55 in san francisco. oakland 54. morgan hill cooler at 48 and half moon bay 55. this time from the east bay and emeryville, looking out towards the bay bridge and cooler temperatures through parts of the north bay, santa rosa 53, napa 54, as we look from explorinexplori can see the pretty lights. this is what you can expect. patchy low clouds once again along the coast. it could spread into the bay in

the next couple hours but lots of sunshine with cooler numbers compared to yesterday and then much cooler midweek. we're also going to be contending with hazy skies through parts of the north bay due to fires. in san francisco today, there is a giant race at at&t park. perfect weather. cool and clear. temperatures will be in the mid 50s when it starts hanging onto the 50s during the 10:00 hour and if you're still sticking around, it will be a mild afternoon. mid 60s by 1:00 with sunshine. in fact, sunshine for everyone today. highs range from the 60s to near 90. san rafael 82 and warm and and santa rosa 87. san mateo 73, oakland 72, san jose 82 degrees right now. also going to be a great day to head to the beaches because we'll get lots of sunshine but the breeze will pick up this afternoon and that's why temperatures will stay mainly in the low 60s through ocean beach

degrees and bring the sunshine, high u.v. index. here is the seven-day forecast. we have warm temperatures inland but again, slightly cooler compared to yesterday around the bay, perfect weather. upper 70s in some of the warmest locations at the coast low 60s and a wide range of temperatures tomorrow but much breezier and cooler conditions come our way on tuesday and then wednesday and thursday will likely be the coolest days of the week. we'll be well below average before we start to warm things back up into next weekend. >> so cooler and comfortable for the week ahead. >> yes, i like it. some people might find it too cool but i enjoy it. >> frances, thanks. just ahead, danger removed from an oakland

still flat. here. try this. and... ♪ ooh, heaven -- nailed it. . an imminent danger has been removed from a neighborhood thanks to 7 on your side. michael finney has the story. >> reporter: it was a fertile paradise in oakland. he grows egg plants and lots of tomatoes. he also loved the tall tree growing behind his home but it turned into a love hate relationship after the branch from that tree came crashing down on his fence more than a year ago. >> we were really overwhelmed because it was all over, like, right here. >> reporter: his backyard sits on the edge of a childhood

development center run by the oakland unified school district. he called the district but they said the public works department is responsible for maintaining the area behind the school and around his home. the department came to survey the area and promised it would get back to him. >> nothing happened until july when another branch fell. >> reporter: more than a year after the first incident, another fallen branch wiped out part of the fence and knocked down plants. this time public works told him he needed to contact the school district. that's when he wrote the district, the school board and 7 on your side. john is with the oakland unf cool -- school district. >> once we determined it was ours, we made the determination to take care of any issues. >> reporter: the district hired a contract that brought in a

september is suicide prevention month. an iraq war veteran on the brink of ending it all is sharing how she took back her life with a bike. >> reporter: approaching the iconic span of the golden gate bridge, a moment 4,000 miles in the making. sarah lee is on the final leg of a journey of a lifetime. >> a lot of healing took place. >> reporter: for five months beginning in virginia through ten states and over 200 communities, sarah rode away her pain. a journey that almost never began after her return from deployment. >> you kind of forget who you are and what you're capable of and you just kind of deteriorate inside a little bit.

north bay, coast and central bay expect hazy skies in the north bay due to the fires. temperatures for today will be close to yesterday's numbers, although cooler in some spots. so look for some upper 80s through santa rosa. san rafael 82 and san francisco 67 and oakland 72 and san jose 82. very bright sunshine, as well. still warm inland, concord 90 as well as antioch and if you're headed to the beaches, you need the sunglasses and sunscreen today because there will be lots of sunshine, not a lot of low clouds throughout the day and high u.v. index but sea breeze in the 60s there and santa cruz much more comfortable at 76 degrees. today is the oakland pride festival in celebration in oakland, so we'll start off with bright sunshine near 63 degrees. we'll be warming up into the low 70s during the afternoon hours. the breeze will pick up in the afternoon so temperatures will start to drop at 4:00 and then
