season. there is an evacuation center nearby. in the meantime, firefighters hope the weather cooperates so they can make progress on this fire. in napa county, crews will meet this morning and come up with plan for reopening. the delta fire burned 40,000 acres. there is still in containment. they hope to gain more ground and contain the flames. >> the biggest challenge is going to be the fire behavior. we hope for slightly more moderate fire behavior, less extreme with the slight weather change that we've seen. >> firefighters say the burn areas are challenge to work and because of the rough terrain and there isn't a good road system in place in case they need to

synagogue last week. >> i was very surprised tor that news. neighborhood. >> reporter: the police department is aware of the flier and while there are no specific threats of violence, the department will increase patrols around the synagogue. it's something they do every year during the high holidays. >> reporter: they released this statement quote these hate groups stand for the very opposite of our values of love and inclusivity. we are fortunate to have a warm and close knit community that will not be cowed by attempts to intimidate. we wish the entire community a sweet and happy new year. >> hopefully it doesn't escalate and hopefully we can put an end to it and find who did this. >> reporter: while they are small, they do exist and they have felt emboldened recently, especially in the recent political climate to express themselves. >> reporter: the adl says propaganda like this should be reported to the organization and local police so they could be documented. similar flyers were found in fl

in half. people felt a little rumble yesterday across the east bay. a 2.8 magnitude earthquake hit just after 1:00 in the afternoon. people reported feeling a quick shake but no damage or injuries. it was centered in oakland and caught the attention of many people. look at some of the reactions. one person compared to the a big truck going by her house and another person posted they thought a car had hit a wall in the garage or someone dropped a large piece of furniture and this sums it up well, felt that one. happening today, the annual pride parade and festival in oakland. let's look at some video. today's event kicks off at 11:00 and will end at 20th and broadway. it's free to watch and $10 to get into the festival. there will be food, drinks, various venddors and performers frances, we're less than an

here is a live look outside, the sun getting ready to rise. frances returns with the full forecast and what you can expect for the workweek coming up. dallas police have identified the officer who killed her neighbor. amber giger told investigators she entered the apartment thinking it was her own and mistook him for an intruder. >> reporter: an off duty dallas police officer who shot and killed her neighbor in his apartment said she believes she was in her home. >> i found inconsistencies and

discrepancies inntn even >> reporter: officials are not saying whether the door to the neighbor's apartment was unlocked when the officer entered or if this officer and the victim knew each other. the texas rangers are now handling the investigation. >> we have turned this investigation over to ensure total transparency. >> reporter: 26-year-old bothom john was a beloved pastor and neighbors are in disbelief at the way he died. >> he was like a ray of sunshine. you couldn't see bothom and not have the biggest smile on your face. >> bothom john was exactly the sort of citizen we want to have in the city of dallas. >> reporter: the victim's mother is demanding answers from the officer. >> i want her to come clean. speak the truth and forgive her but she could never forgive her but she can't give me my son

look at the sediment kicked up. four remaining foundations will be left in place and converted into observation platforms and boardwalks as part of a new park. tropical storm approaches the east coast. it's expected to travel between bermuda and the bahamas on tuesday and wednesday before approaching the southeastern states on thursday. virginia, north carolina and south carolina have already declared states of emergency. and another hurricane is making its way towards hawaii but this one is expected to weak en to a tropical storm. nonetheless, members of the task force three, the urban search and rescue team based on the peninsula are returning in preparation for hurricane olivia. the 36-member team was in hawaii for hurricane lane last month. all right. we're tracking hurricane olivia right now headed towards hawaii.

right now it is a category one hurricane level strength and it's going to weaken as it heads towards hawaii. it's moving, winds at 80 miles per hour heading west now and then by tuesday night closer to hawaii, it does drop to tropical storm level strength. tropic tropical storm florence will be gaining strength. it will reach category four by wednesday evening as it makes its way to the carolinas and virginia and parts of georgia. we'll keep an eye on that. here in the bay area. live doppler 7 and satellite tracking low clouds off the coast. the marine layer is shallow so we'll see quite a bit of sunshine today. it will be gorgeous. check out the live shot, pretty sunrise at 6:46 and some of the low clouds in the distance and even right there in the foreground pushing in from the

removed thanks to a concerned resident and help from 7 on your side. here is michael finney with the story. >> reporter: he turned his backyard into a turned into a love hate relationship after the branch came crashing down on his fence more than a year ago. >> we were overwhelmed because it was all over right here. >> reporter: his backyard sits on the edge of a childhood development center which is run by the oakland unified school district. he called the district but was told the alameda county public works department is responsible for maintaining the area behind both the school and his home. the department came to survey thend promised it would get back to him. >> nothing happened until july

this year when another branch fell. >> reporter: more than a year after the first incident, another fallen branch wiped out part of his fence and knocked down some of his plants. this time public works told him he needed to contact the school district. that's when he wrote the district, the school board and 7 on your side. john is with the oakland unified cool district. >> there was question whether it was our property or the county or someone else. once we determined it was ours, we made the determination we had to take care of any issue. >> reporter: the district hired a contractor who brought in a crane to remove the branchs that posed the most imminent danger. he is grateful for what has been done so far. >> i don't think they would have done it without hearing from you guys. >> reporter: you can see several of the cuts the workers made to reduce the danger. he however is fearful in a few more years, other branchs will grow bigger and pose a threat.
