hour and breezes picking up once again. tomorrow temperatures will be warm in the upper 80s and we're expecting a cooldown to head our way tuesday, wednesday, even lasting into thursday. certainly that will help. it will bring up the relative humidity. not going to get too much in the way of fog but those cooler temperatures certainly will help out and it looks like temperature will warm up just a little bit the end of the week. for the short term, it's breezy, still quite warm and we're not going to see any help from the marine layer any time soon. >> the cooler temperatures, wish they were a little built quicker. to our north now, interstate 5 remains closed because of a wildfire in shasta county. the fire started on wednesday and flames are burning on both sides of the roadway. nearly 50 miles of the road are closed. they need to clear away dead trees and make fixes to the interstate. the fire has burned more than 41,000 acres and it's about 15% contained. the complex fires are

nearing complete containment. firefighters on the ranch fire are working to contain the last section of the fire by cutting hazardous trees and tending to fire erosion. that fire has burned 48,000 acres and is 90% contained. the adjacent river fire burned 90,000 acres and was contained week ago. full conta >> remember, you can get updates on the delta fire on our abc 7 7 news app. right now police are investigating an officer-involved shooting in gi gilroy. it happened near a school full of fifth and sixth graders. police were following a stolen car. the car drove where younger students were taking part in a sports event.

someone found kite ak bthe kaya the owners. that person called authority. deputies searched the shore. they searched the open ocean for the owner. so far that person has not been located, but calfire told abc 7 news there are no reports of anyone missing. in just about 90 minutes when the sun goes down, the jewish holidays begin. people at five synagogues may be on high alert after anti-semitic fliers naming a white supremacist group were found. they said the group mentioned on the flyer was involved with the white supremacist rally in charlottesville. they have since retreated to on-li on-line. they found the flyer outside the synagogue last week. in a statement they said they will not be cowed by attempts to intimidate. the police department said they will increase patrols as they do every year around the high

holidays. muni has rolled back trading time for operators in order to put more drivers on the streets, according to the examiner. training time of the new luvs has been cut from 50 hours to 40 hours. they are concerned with the practice saying operators need the additional time to familiarize themselves with the new fleet. muni has been dealing with a chronic shortage of operators because of the lack of new hires and the ongoing training that has led to ex tense si delays systemwide. tomorrow bart will be extending rides to warm springs. they will offer rides friday and saturday to the warm springs station on the green lines. riders will no longer have to transfer. the board of supervisor's health committee will meet tomorrow to talk about pop-up restaurants. the hearing comes on the heels of county health inspectors targeting numerous pop-ups and

shutting them down. one of those pop-ups was shut down last month, called nokni. they lack proper permits. they hope to get some clarity about the health regulations of pop-ups. the park theater closed in 2001 and is one of the last remaining single screen theetats in the state. a developer was planning to buy the theater but backed out last month. the city council will be talking about what to do at their next meeting tomorrow. it's at 7:00 p.m. members of the public are invited to come and weigh in. they defended their final title at the oracle arena late this afternoon. abc 7 news were there yesterday as hundreds of gamers showed off their skills for the on-line battle lick of the legends game.

a group of neighbors is returning home more than four months after a spewing volcano in hawaii forced them out. since the eruptions began on may 3rd, residents from the big island say they've been checking on their homes daily. parts of the neighborhood still don't have power after hot lava buried down power poles. one man checked on his neighbor's house. >> we've got some dead tree issues and some other stuff, but mostly it's going to be a big job getting all the pumice off the ground. it got hit here pretty hard. >> it's a step forward. it's kind of hard. like i said, it's been a long four months. >> experts cannot

cayk iri luaeh volcano will erupt again. you can see that funnel form over chesapeake bay. it didn't last long but it did damage trees because of the rain. the mayor of louisiana is taking bold steps against nike. it started after nike made colin kaepernick the face of their "just do it" campaign. now the mayor of kenner, louisiana has banned their department from buying nike products. the affiliate station in baton rouge said the memo was being circulated on social media, and a city councilman confirmed it, writing on line he wants to meet with the mayor about the issue. a spokesman told local media he has no comment. miss america being crowned right here tonight on abc.

it's going to sit here another day. it's going to deepen not until tuesday and wednesday. we'll make an impact in the bay area with gusty winds and much cooler weather. as we take you to the tropics, this is hurricane olivia. category 1 winds at 70 miles an hour that continues to move to the west, and as it does, it will weaken. as it moves over the hawaiian islands, they'll see very heavy rain, large swells and damaging earth. tropical storm gordon has been bringing very heavy rain to the atlantic, and in its path, much of the east coast will be florence, which is intensifying rapidly into a major hurricane. right now it's at 85 miles an hour, but look how quickly it increases by wednesday into thursday. it's forecasting to hit land anywhere from the southern part of north carolina. and the landfall isn't what we're particularly noticing here. it's really the heavy rain and

the storm surge and how this will linger for several days. already they're looking at flooding there, and this is really going to add insult to injury for much of the mid-atlantic basin. back home 64 in san francisco. it is 73 in mountain view. you can see the haze there. 83 in morgan hill, 61 in half moon bay. it's getting kind of gusty on the water here. temperatures dropping out of the 90s in the valleys, but still warm. concord 88, 81 in livermore and santa rosa. nee you'll notice how gusty it is in half moon bay and san francisco. primarily coming out of the northwest the next couple days. we had some cooling in the last five hours. look at the golden gate bridge. you'll notice fog free. just some patchy fog on the san mateo coast towards morning. cooler and breezier tuesday and wednesday. air quality will be better on the east bay.
