those stories plus children unite in protest, fed up with their parents' constant use of cell phones. a sunday night thriller. what happened after aaron rodgers left the field with a knee injury and the packers went down 20-0. and this morning, the new miss america and the history-making pageant results. and we do say good morning, everyone, on this monday. we begin with hurricane florence getting stronger overnight. now posing an extreme threat for millions of people. >> the storm appears to be on a collision course with the carolina coast. florence is expected to become a category 4 storm today with 150-mile-per-hour winds and could hit the east coast by thursday night. >> people in the southeast are already preparing with sandbags and other supplies. governors in north carolina and south carolina and virginia now declaring states of emergency. accuweather's erin calandra is tracking the storm.

erin? >> reporter: good morning, diane and kendis. we continue to track hurricane florence. it is expected to develop into a very powerful storm over the next 24 hours into a category 4 as it treks toward the u.s. now we expect it to get close to the coast thursday night into friday. if you are in this red zone, you need to have a plan in place. start thinking about evacuations and certainly listen to your local authorities. we're also tracking hurricane isaac. it's a category 1, will be pushing off to the west weakening as it approaches the lesser antilles and we have flooding downpours. that's across the northeast, mainly pennsylvania into upstate new york. certainly a day you want to bring the umbrella. don't forget about that. kendis, diane, back to you. >> erin, thank you. and our other top story this morning. one of the most powerful executives in hollywood has resigned amid new sexual conduct -- misconduct allegations. >> more women have come forward claiming the former cbs chief les moonves used physical

violence and intimidation against them. >> reporter: this morning, the head of cbs is out amid new accusations of sexual assault and harassment. in a just published "new yorker" article, six additional women are coming forward with allegations against les moonves. phyllis golden-gottlieb told the magazine he sexily assaulted her in 1996. phyllis golden-gottlieb said, he reaches over and pulls me up, i mean hard, against the wall. golden-gottlieb said she kept quiet because she feared for her livelihood saying, he absolutely ruined my career. he was the head of cbs. no one was going to take me. massage therapist deborah kitay says moonves exposed himself to her during a session in the '90s. >> when i was at his home, i had brought my massage table and he was lying on his back. i had him covered up with a sheet, and he actually pulled the sheet off of himself and threw it onto the floor. i just picked it up and put it

back on him and said, you know, cover that up. >> reporter: these latest accusations add to those from seven other women who previously accused moonves of offenses ranging from unwanted advances to sexual assault. just last year the media mogul addressed the me too movement. >> i think it's important that a company's culture will not allow for this. >> reporter: in a statement released overnight, moonves called it a privilege to lead cbs, adding, untrue allegations from decades ago are now being made against me that are not consistent with who i am. critics are taking aim at a cbs board member's statement on moonves' exit that thanks him for his accomplishments, and some are expressing outrage over a severance package for moonves that could be worth more than $100 million, but this morning, that pay package is on hold pending an investigation by the company. and that said, cbs and moonves have announced they will donate $20 million to organizations that support the me too movement.

a dallas police officer who shot and killed her neighbor in his own apartment has been arrested, but the man's family says that arrest took too long. attorneys representing botham jean's relatives say they are happy officer amber guyger was arrested sunday night, but they say allowing her to be free for three days shows a double standard in yet another death of an unarmed black man. police say the officer entered jean's home thinking it was her apartment and mistook him for an intruder. >> black people are being killed for driving while black, walking while black. this you had him living while black and he still was shot in his own apartment. >> i don't know what to say to her. i know she took my life away. my very own life. >> officer guyger is charged with manslaughter. she is free on $300,000 bond. former president obama is taking on president trump disputing trump's claim of

responsibility for the economy. obama is hitting the campaign trail for democrats ahead of november's midterm elections and the white house is now firing back. abc's emily rau has the latest from washington. good morning, emily. >> reporter: good morning, kendis. we're seeing the race toward the midterms really heating up. president trump has shown influence, and now democrats are hoping president obama will motivate voters. with less than two months to go until the midterm elections, president obama is back on the campaign trail. >> we have a chance to restore some sanity in our politics. >> reporter: a few days before, directly criticizing his successor. >> sometimes the backlash comes from people who are genuinely, if wrongly, fearful of change. it did not start with donald trump. he is a symptom, not the cause. >> reporter: and the current administration fighting back. vice president mike pence appearing on fox news sunday. >> the truth is the american people in 2016 rejected the

video trying to identify the driver. authorities say they do not believe terrorism was behind a stabbing rampage in paris that left seven people injured. the attacker was arrested shortly after the mayhem near a movie theater who reportedly had a knife and a pipe. at least two british tourists are among those injured. the final phase of the flight 93 memorial has been unveiled ahead of tomorrow's 9/11 anniversary. the tower of voices is 93 feet tall and features a wind chime for each of the 40 passengers and crew who died when that plane crashed into a field in pennsylvania. it's dedicated to those heroes who fought back against the hijackers. the new york subway station destroyed when the twin towers collapsed has now reopened. trains rolled into the world trade center station this weekend for the first time in 17 years. wow. authorities in northern italy have confirmed an exciting discovery. during a construction project, workers dug up a stone jug under an old theater and found

here's alexis. good morning, mike. overall, we are looking okay right now. we started off with a what we thought would be a significant issue in the east bay. eastbound 580 we had a crash involving a semi and the trailer disconnected. i'm surprised how quickly they were able to clear this. all lanes are back open. you could see a little activity on the shoulder. no delays in the area. toll plaza, metering lights are not on. we should have 45, 50 minutes. crews are making progress on the snell fire that are affecting napa county. 200 homes have been evacuated. napa county sheriff gave some residents permission to go back in and get essential items from their homes. it is now 20% contained.

there's a creek in the area serving as a natural barrier and helping firefighters, at least for now. >> concern right now is just it's holding along cuda creek. if it jumps, it gets into the community area. we want to make sure we are confident that area is cooled down enough we won't have to re-evacuate people. >> no injuries reported, no structures lost. the cause of the fire is under investigation. cal fire said they should have a better idea this morning when residents could return home. now to our north. caltrans says part of interstate 5 in shasta county will be closed because of the delta fire. i-5 became a ghost road after the fire turned hills on either side into walls of flames. it has burped 30,000 acres since it broke out on wednesday. it is only 5% contained.

homes along the corridor are still evacuated. full containment of the devastating mendocino fires is expected today. firefighters on the ranch fire are working to contain the very last section of the fire by cutting hazardous trees and tending to soil erosion. that fire has burned 400,000 acres and is 98% contained. the adjacent river fire burned 49,000 acres. it was contained weeks ago. you can get constant updates on the northern california wildfires on our free abc 7 app. enable push alerts >> if you're just joining us, over to mike nico. we had quite the warm weekend. >> it was quite nice, wasn't it? a schooling trend is on the way. back to the fires real quick. the temperatures actually up about 55 degrees. 30% humidity not good.
