home. the fire is burning 40 miles north of napa. it's burnt nearly 2,500 acres and it's 45% contained. >> and it has been nearly a year since a firestorm raced through parts of the north bay. this morning the marin county board of supervisors will hold a meeting that includes a report about lessons learned from the fires that killed 44 people. >> sonoma county is working on a more effective emergency alert system. abc7 news reporter kate larson went inside sonoma's emergency operation center where crews tested that system for the first time. >> reporter: sonoma county emergency management that started 300,000 calls that started like this -- >> there will be a test of the emergency alert systems on september 12th. >> we're testing our warning system. >> reporter: christopher godly is the sonoma county emergency

right now florence is a powerful category 4 hurricane. this video shows you what it looks like in the eye of the storm. florence is expected to make landfall on thursday. people in north and south carolina, also virginia, being told to evacuate. the governors of those states have declared states of emergencies ahead of the storm. major airlines are letting you change your reservations if you're traveling through airports affected by florence and they include alaska, delta, front tear, jetblue, southwest. you're never more than seven minutes away from my accuweather forecast. florence had 145-mile-an-hour winds when we went to bed. it's down to 130. that doesn't matter. still going to be a devastating hurricane. let's see where it goes and when it finally gets there. the track has wobbled a little to the north but it's still hitting the outer banks of north carolina with its most powerful bunches, about 130 miles an hour. that hasn't changed. the fact it's coming in when

miles an hour. that will blow smoke towards san francisco. winds are fairly calm this morning. you can see there's hardly any clouds out there. enjoy a lot of sunshine early. temperatures in the upper 40s to upper 50s. where we started off yesterday. we'll end up pretty close to yesterday's temperatures. cooler at the coast. 70s around the bay and 80s inland at 4:00. 60s and 70s at noon. remember, it will be a little breezy this afternoon. let's get a check of the morning commute. what's up? >> not too much at this point. we did have earlier trouble spots. we're looking better in both of those areas. taking you into the 101 corridor in san francisco. we did have some overnight roadwork. lanes scheduled to be blocked for bridge work until 6:00 a.m. on southbound 101 approaching cesar chavez. looks like that's picking up quickly. a couple moments ago t to 11 miles an hour. looks like it's faster than that

now. bay bridge toll plaza, meters on at exactly 5:30. breaking new in the north bay where a wildfire is burning at a state park. >> evacuations are in effect in marin county. you can see where the fire is burning. it's happening at samuel p. taylor state park. >> reporter: we're at the evacuation center. some out here in it the cars. we're told they didn't know until midnight they weren't going to be able to go back home. here's a look at the fire burning last night. overnight marin fire says it is starting to make progress on containment. they got it about 10% contained. residents say it was scary. the fire was huge. as evacuating, they couldn't help but remember last year's deadly fire. >> the sonoma fire is fresh in our minds and our community center was an evacuation center

for ten days last october for the sa none ma fires. and now evacuation center for our own community. >> reporter: those living along mountain king road and alamo road are evacuated. firefighters say about 20 to 30 structures are being threatened. the red cross is at the community center offering help to anyone who needs it. live from marin county, amy hollyfield, abc7 news. >> thank you. to a different interstate 5 in shasta county is reopening but they could change it again if flames change

the event begins tomorrow. yesterday people gathered at san francisco's exploratory yum to talk about biodiversity. >> this is wonderful for the world. not just this country or other countries, but for the world because we're all living in this planet. new details in that frightening muni bus crash. the driver is a 66-year-old man who has been a long-time bus officer. dash cam video. veering across lombard street. we brought this to you as breaking news. the bus hit a parked car, snapped a tree and crashed into a business. jenis patel couldn't believe what was happening in front of him. >> it was a total shock.

i can't even say a word. for at least ten minutes, my entire body was chaking. >> the bus driver will be treated for life-threatening injuries. three passengers are recovering after getting hurt. officials hope to learn what went wrong from the on board cameras. a new effort to keep you safe in ride shares. today's san francisco district attorney will announce a new safety campaign and this comes after several recent ride share attacks around the bay area. we don't have details but a representative from uber will be at the conference. one in five marijuana products fail state safety tests. the state began requiring the tests in july. the associated press over the last couple of months nearly 11,000 samples were tested and 2,000 failed. some products failed because of unacceptable levels of pesticide and bacteria. industry experts say the

by noon it's 62. 59 by 8:00. east bay valley, look at that. the 90s are gone. we start off at 65 at 8:00 to 77 at noon to mid-80s in the afternoon hours. what a gorgeous evening. 70 at 8:00. our last stop will be the peninsula where it will be in the 50s. 68 at noon and hanging out in the mid-70s. jacket weather, 62 by 8:00. we started off with a potentially really serious situation. what's going on now? >> well, fortunately, that did clear. we're still working on recovering in the walnut creek area. doesn't look that great right now, does it? d't bie we have anythinghat now. looks like we're having a tough time bouncing back from that.

we can check that out on our traffic maps as well. maybe a little residual delay. averaging about 26 miles an hour through both of those stretches. a quick stretch of drive times. overall we're looking good. santa rosa to petaluma, 14 minutes. northbound 280/68 to highway 85, that's 16 minutes on highway so 1. we'll take you live to new york city for a special report as we approach the moment
