southwest. a live look at wilmington, north carolina. winds extending outward knocking down trees and power lines. emily is live in washington now. >> reporter: we are getting the first reports of injuries caused by the storm. police tweeting that a tree fell on top of a home and at least one person was taken to the hospital. more victims could be inside. hurricane florence is unleashing her fury. hurricane florence lashing the carolinas. the slow storm delivering sheets of rain and ferocious winds topping 105 miles per hour in wilmington. waters rising rapidly. >> rainwater and surge are forcing sounds and rivers over their banks. >> in north carolina waves reaching first floor windows prompting emergency situations. >> i have never seen this kind

weather. >> it is putting everything in a pattern hold. it will stay the same until florence starts to take off. here is a look at florence. you can see what she is doing right there, 75 miles per hour winds. here is where the strongest winds are in the red. that is where we'll have the fastest storm winds. we also have the threat of tornados to the north where it is always the most dangerous part of the storm, the northeast quadrant. this goes until 5:00. we could have faster winds that could topple more look at the path. it made a right hand turn at the coast and keeps following the south. it is heading into south carolina. don't watch the winds. they are 65 but look at all of the yellows and green.

and out of court in oakland today without any new answers. john was supposed to ent aer e a plea. >> there are still missing police reports and basic information. >> he is accusedover stabbing 18-year-old wilson to death in july. her sister was also stabbed but survived. police have called the attacks random. the wilson family did not want to comment this morning after the hearing. >> any time you're in custody it's a difficult situation when you're suffering from mental illness. it's hard. >> there was also video of the attack which the defense team is hoping to

detectives have taken a possible child predator off the streets. we are live with -- they say his jobs gave him access to a lot of he had a part time >> he reached out and told us he heard his son talking at inappropriate behavior and was questioning some of the information that he heard. >> it lead to an investigation where detectives say they found

at least five victims. they are not names the child care web site or ride sharing company used because none of the victims so far are associated with them. they say these jobs could have given them access to more victims. >> parents are offense times buput off by the fact when they think this person was a perfect baby-sitter, great with their kids and that's the tactics that they use to manipulate their victims and come into these situations. >> detectives say more victims could be any where in the bay area. that's why they say anyone who has children and came in contact with should call police. could yellow tag the gleaming high-rise being called the leaning tower of trouble. me lmillenniumemillenniumemill n

crane that would allow look at damage from outside the building. if these are not met the city could yellow tag the building. yellow tag means people can still live inside but there is a potential hazard. the early day statue in civic center plaza has been removed. city crews loaded the monument onto a track early this morning and hauled it away. only the pedestrian stool remains. this is video of the statue before it was taken down. it showed a native american at the feet of a missionary. some called it racist and demeaning. board of appeals voted to remove it on wednesday. president trump's former campaign chair has cut a deal with federal prosecutors. still ahead, what his attorney says his client is ready to do.

280 miles wide at least the most powerful. look at i broaden it out. it is drawing in. it will push rain up towards washington and new york as we head through the weekend. this corridor will be soaked and saturated by the time we get to monday and tuesday. you can see nearly 600 miles to the northern part of what florence is doing. this is the way it looks in myrtle beach right now. we did have a live shot. it looks like it tiemd omed out. quite a doesn't it look quite inviting? passing high clouds today, autumn breezes. it will hold through because florence is clogging the weather pattern and holding everything

up. here the phenomenon. you may know it as a cloud punch hole. the water and the ice crystals go to this one area and sink. it takes away the cloud cover. it takes away the thickness the couplouds. it is unusual for us to get it but it's out there and a lot of people are seeing it on twitter. it is absolutely amazing. haven't seen one of those in a long time. here is the bowl of air locked over us. it will keep us cooler than average. with the jet stream sitting on top of us it was running about 110 miles per hour. we are having wavesov of high clouds roll through. look at these temperatures urnds

beneath. mid-to upper 60s. we are supposed to be 70. we have 69 to 74 degrees around the bay. you can see mid-to upper 70s in the north bay and upper 70s and near 80 in the south bay and also east bay valleys during the afternoon hours. this is the way it looks right now. you can see the high clouds rolling through. they will thin out a little bit during the afternoon hours. it will jump our temperatures from the 60s at noon into the 70s around the bay and inland. mid-to low 60s by 6:00. make sure you your coat. at 12:00 mid-50s. all right. turning it over to sports real quick. record 11 game losing all right. let's talk football. it is 68 warming to 73. have the sunscreen there and also over at cal where idaho

happening today the warriors will celebrate a major milestone. a topping out ceremony will be held at 12:15 this afternoon. all 1,200 construction workers as well as the warriors will autograph the final beam before it is hoisted into place marking the completion of the steel part of the new arena. it is expected to be completed next september in time for the 2019 season. if you're looking for something fun to do this weekend and a bit of food to go along with it we have you drop by the pop-up boutique and try their crepes or moon cakes. they will be open saturday and sunday located at mason and eddy streets. they started selling cakes at some of the new york top restaurants in 2002.
