clinical psychology professor at palo alto university. chef kaoutsz brett kavanaugh of assaulting her in the 1980s amount a high school party saying he pinned her and groped her. she stpeufrt sent an anonymous letter. now that her name has been leaked, her name is public. >> we will consider all options. if we are trying to get at the truth, it should not be be used to get weaponized against powerful men. that's how this is going set up. >> about the incident, ford told the "washington post" i thought he might inadvertently kill me. he was trying to attack me and remove my clothing.

i category and unequivocally deny this allegation. i did not do this back in high school or any time. many are calling for his nomination to be put on hold while they investigate this claim. amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. thank you, amy. in the east bay, hospital officials are expected to discontinue life support for a 6-month-old who suffered a severe brain injury. this is kingston holmes. he has been at antioch on a breathing machine. he went into cardiac arrest a month ago. doctors gave them a letter friday saying breathing machines will be turned off today due to the irreversible brain injury. >> they just dropped this bomb on us. >> i think my son deserves a fighting chance because he is in fact, improving. >> his parents are looking into options they have, whether it's legal help or moving him to

another facility. hospital officials tell us they can't comment because of privacy laws. they say they feel for what the family is going through >> new developments at san francisco's hunters point ship yard. new concerns about the plans are retest the soil for radio activity. the navy's proposed fixed draws from an old plan developed in 2012 which aimed to cut costs. the old plan changed cleanup rules to declare more soil safe for development. that way the navy didn't have to pay as much money to hall the soil away. the plan also depended on the accuracy of data, which investigators later discovered was falsified. epa and state agencies have criticized the navy's plan to re-test the soil. >> a viewer in the east bay us this video of what sounds like a small explosion in bay point. it broke out saturday afternoon on water street just west ofared

caroli carolina. rescue crews are working around the clock to save people and animals stranded ana rivera from wtvd is live with a look at the conditions there. ana? >> reporter: good news. the conditions are getting much better here in wilmington ton. i know other parts of the state, people are seeing different things. the sun is shining here. the wind and rain are gone. you can still see the effects of the storm. take a look how far this water got up earlier this week. you can see the debris left behind. it came down onto this dock here. you can see all the trees left behind. and this massive power line that came down. these are major power lines powering part of this area of wilmington. now, i want you to take a look seeing now. the big issues have been the roads. no way to get around for -- to get out of wilmington and in wilmington.

the highways are blocked. the secondary roads are blocked too not only because of debris but floodwaters as well. right across the water over to wrightsville beach, another area hard hit completely without power. they can't even get back until the earliest tomorrow morning. they are hoping to get back as soon as possible. they're still not sure when that will happen. reggie and jessica. the people without power, any word when that will be restored. they're hoping to get it back as soon as possible. they don't have a timeline at this point. they say the reason that is so important is because they have sewage pump stations they can't get up and running. if they can't do that, streets will flood. that will be an even bigger problem than they're facing right now. reporting live from north carolina this morning for us. of course, mike, you have been tracking the storm this entire time for us. and a lot of the areas that we

see with flooding, they could get worse still in these days to come. >> it still takes time for all the water to gather in small streams, creating bigger streams, into the rivers, then to the lakes, possibly breaching a dam or two like they have already done. so, yes, some areas will start to recede tomorrow. that's when the electricians can finally get into areas where they can't get right now because the roads are impassable. this is doppler radar. it tends to underestimate rainfall totals just a little bit. tropical storms. all that gray you see, the whole southeast corner of north carolina in the northeast corner of south carolina right here, at least 15 to 25 inches. when the totals come from the rain gauges, i'm sure many will hit 30. we will see isolated areas of 40 like we talked about. here's what will happen. follow the green 6:00 this morning. you can see it moves right up into new england in time for tomorrow's morning commute. during the evening hours, it starts to pull out. by wednesday, florence is out over the ocean and heading for

hit the fill liens and southern china over the weekend. it hit saturday and slammed into southern china yesterday. it was the most powerful typhoon to hit hong kong in four decades with winds of 120 miles per hour. the snell fire in napa county is now 100% contained. the fire started nine days ago and burned nearly 2,500 acres between middletown and lake berryessa. it was fully contained saturday night. no homes or other structures were damaged. but berryessa was under mandatory evacuation orders two days. the cause of the fire stil under investigation. water restrictions were put in place after a cancer-causing

astronomical fall saturday. happening now, heavy rain from tropical depression florence is causing record flooding in the carolinas. this is new drone video taken this morning in fayetteville, north carolina. the storm has already claimed at least 17 lives. florence is the worst storm. >> so far what we are dealing with is the most catastrophic disaster this county has seen in the last 50 or 60 years. more than 170 roads are flooded in north carolina, leaving some drivers stranded. long lines are forming at the few open businesses as people venture out for the first time in days. the american red cross is organizing a relief effort. make a $10 donation by texting florence to 90999. you're going to get an emergency alert on your cell phone this week.
