the stage is set on capitol hill with both supreme court nominee brett kavanaugh and his accuser ready to testify. >> i insisted we have an open hearing. i would have voted no this week absent her being able to tell her story. >> reporter: senator jeff flake, a key republican on the senate judiciary committee is adamant that the accuser, christine blasey ford be allowed to testify. seen here in a yearbook photo first told her story to senator diane fine stooind the washington post. alleging kavanaugh pinned her to a bed and groped her. adding, i thought he might inadvertently kill me. she says she managed to get away. the alleged incident happened when they were both in high school, some 35 years ago. in response, kavanaugh say this is is a complete ly false

allegation. >> it is an insult, insult to the women of america to rush this through. >> obviously, if judge kavanaugh has lied about what happened, that would be disqualifying. >> reporter: president trump while defending his nominee also uncharacteristically called for patience. >> i want the american people to be happy. think to do that, you have to go through this. if it takes a little delay, it will take a little delay. >> reporter: the hearing is set for next monday morning. two will testify separately but before the same page. kendis? >> a lot of people will watch it on monday. in rare move, president trump ordered intelligence officials to declassify fbi documented related to the russia investigation. the records include text flaujs former fbi director james comey.

and from the two former fbi officials who exchanged anti-trump text messages before tlex. democrats call the move reckless and irresponsible. they claim it's a desperate attempt to distract from special counsel robert mueller's investigation. overseas, an historic meeting between the leaders of north and south korea just getting under way. kim jong-un hugging the president. it's the first time in more than a decade that a south korean leader has visited the north. the two will discuss ways to establish peace on the peninsula. a new report estimates damage from hurricane florence could top $20 billion. that storm not over yet. the cape fear river is set to crest today. residents have been warned to pick a side of the river stand there. as the storm moves north, it's already spawned a deadly tornado in virginia. millions of people in the

pulls through. 6-month-old kingston holmes has been in coma since going into cardiac arrest. they received a letter informing him his life support would be discontinued by 1:00 p.m. monday due to irreversible brain injury. they said doctors made the decision without consulting them. a rally was held in oakland for the boy. eventually the decision was reversed to give the family more time. he was transferred to stanford children's hospital last night. >> he is moving. he's wiggling his toes. he is moving his foot. his feet as well as his hands. his breath has gotten tremendously better. >> reporter: ucsf said they couldn't comment on kingston's case due to privacy laws but said the parents were notified
