newscast. wanda barzee expected to walk out sometime this morning. the 72-year-old was convicted of helping kidnap smart from her utah home in 2002. she was supposed to be released in 2024 but authorities miscalculated her time served. smart says she does not know how all the conditions of barzee's release but a federal agent said they will be be keeping a close eye on the convicted kidnapper. meanwhile, brian david mitchell is now serving a life sentence for the crime >> new dominanour media partner news reports the city council voted for a proposal last night. it says up to 5 elected officials can be away from the city at the same time as long as it doesn't affect the meeting. many visited japan to mark 630 years of being sister cities.

hi, elizabeth. >> reporter: good morning to je. dr. ford's lawyer say this is a serious situation. and there is no reason to rush a public hearing. but republicans, well, they say in their view there's no reason to delay it. this morning dr. christine blasey ford is standing firm. no fbi investigation, no testimony. in a letter to senate judiciary chairman chuck grassley obtained by abc news, ford's lawyer writing, quote, "a full investigation by law enforcement officials will especially sure the crucial facts and witnesses in this matter are assessed in a non-partisan manner and that the committee is fully informed before conducting any hearing. "adding her life has been turned upside-down and she will not be be appearing on capitol hill on monday. overnight, grassley responding in a statement, "dr. ford's testimony would reflect her personal knowledge and memory of events. nothing the fbi or any other investigator does would have any bearing on what dr. ford tells the committee, so there is no reason for any further delay.
