affordable option. >> you already have your seat. you can wait until then. >> there you go. >> thanks, carlos. developing news, we now know what attorneys for dr. christine blasey ford want in order for her to testify in washington. >> blasey ford is the palo alto woman who accused supreme court nominee brett kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her while they were in high school. a source close says she wants no time limit on her statement, she doesn't want kavanaugh in room when she testifies, and she wants kavanaugh to testify first. they raised the prospect of a subpoena for kavanaugh's friend mark judge. they discussed thursday as the possible hearing date, not monday. so far there is no decision on if or when she'll testify. kavanaugh has repeatedly denied the allegations by blasey ford. president trump is backing him. >> and i'm not saying anything about anybody else. but i want to tell you that brett kavanaugh is one of the finest human beings you will ever have the privilege on of knowing or meeting.

>> yesterday the white house released a letter from kavanaugh saying he will be there for monday's scheduled hearing. we're learning new details from the peninsula dr. blasey ford confided in for the first time. >> she said she was surprised to learn about the allegation back on july 20th and was initially unsure what to do. over the course of an hour and a half, she laid out details in an encounter in high school involving kavanaugh. she has lived for decades with scars from a traumatic event. >> she has exhibited extraordinary courage to come forward. she did not want this. she's not seeking -- she never was seeking the limelight. she doesn't have a political bone in her body. >> congresswoman says she believes dr. blasey ford. she said there needs to be an fbi investigation to flush out evidence and hear witness testimony.

police outside baltimore, maryland are investigating a motive behind a deadly shooting at a distribution center for rite aid. authorities say a 26-year-old woman who was a temporary employee opened fire at the building yesterday morning. three died and three others were hurt. the suspect died at the hospital from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. this was the third workplace shooting in 24 hours. there were also shootings in wisconsin and pennsylvania. google employees considered ways to tweak search results in response to the trump administration travel ban, according to the wall street journal. reporters reviewed internal google e-mails in the days after the travel ban was instituted. they found that employees floated ideas about ways to tweak the search functions to show people how to support pro-immigrationro contact their lawmakers. google says none of the ideas were implemented and they don't

manipulate search results to implement political views. >> silicon valley leadership released these results. they show 68% support google's mega development. 24% oppose it. 8% undecided. most voters like the project down 11% from february. 79% said they supported the expansion of google into downtown san jose. in the east bay, business owners and police are working together to try to stop robberies and thefts. so far more than a dozen store owners have taken a free class offered by san leandro police. officers teach for two hours inside a classroom. they visit stores and suggest ways to make a business safer. >> when i went through the program, i learned amount of things. how to hand the cash. how to -- how much money you should put in the cash register. >> reading every customer that comes into the business so the person coming in knows that the

night. it may cause issues the next few years. >> amy hollyfield is live at the bridge with more details on lane closures tonight and why. amy? >> reporter: hi, matt. yeah, this lane closure situation is the new reality for marin county residents. this is expected to happen for the next three years. take a look at what it is doing to traffic. this was shot by someone who was stuck in it. this is the approach to the golden gate bridge. traffic was barely moving or even stopped at times. this is because construction has started on the suicide barrier that they are putting on the bridge. they will be shutting down at least one lane in each direction every night for the next three years. it probably didn't help there was an eagles/zach brown concert last night at at&t park. this is one one event can do to your drive on the golden gate bridge.

>> reporter: though he is being called to testify in front of the senate again to answer sexual assault accusations >> so we'll let it play out. and i think everything is going to be just fine >> reporter: on fox news, questioning the the allegation. >> why didn't someone call the fbi 36 years ago. >> reporter: dr. christine blasey ford is accusing kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her in the 1980s, a charge he denies. her lawyers currently negotiating when she will appear before the senate judiciary committee, saying she is prepared to testify next week but saying monday is not possible. according to a source for the negotiations, her lawyers and chairman chuck grassley's office now reportedly discussing thursday for her to testify. ford does not want kavanaugh in the room when she testifies and she wants him to testify first. blasey ford had originally requested an fbi investigation before her testimony. her lawyer saying that is still her strong preference but no longer seemed to be insisting on it. democrats are accusing republicans of strong-arming her as to when she will testify. but grassley said he has offered several times. >> we offered one more close said session or two ways of doing it by transcript. >> reporter: kavanaugh continues to categorically deny these accusations. he said he looks forward to testifying before the committee and continues the hearing as soon as possible so he can try to clear his name. linda lopez, abc 7 news.

okay. thank you, linda. blasey ford's family is breaking their silence to defend her. >> this morning in an abc news exclusive interview, her sister-in-law said the story was leaked out with some inaccuracies. >> i think she doesn't want her story misrepresented in the way it was leaked. but i think she also feels strongly the story needs to be heard by the american public. they need to know what this man did in his youth so that he's held responsible. you can see much more with blasey ford's sister-in-law coming up at 7:00 a.m. on gma. the deadline is 7:00 a.m. for blasey ford to announce if she will testify on monday. we'll send out an alert when the decision is make public. in the south bay, police are trying to find a driver who hit and killed a woman. the 77-year-old woman was walking just after 7:30 last night when a dark blue mini van or suv hit her.

the driver never stopped. the woman was taken to the hospital where she died. the police have not released a description of the driver. the dmv is promising all offices will be back to normal today. a line of people waiting to do business stretched out the door yesterday. the dmv said a state-wide router issue stopped services and transactions from being processed. workers weren't aware of the problem until they came to work. >> of course when they're wrong, they're wrong. they don't go smoothly. i have to accept it. there's nothing i can do about it. >> the system started coming back up after two and a half hours. the outages at some locations lasted four hours. kwraoe here's a look at the temperatures in the south bay. 72, lowe's al toes. los gatos. 50s. morgan hill, 49 degrees.
