accusations were true,at do you? >> from what i understand, it's very, very common for people that have experienced sexual abuse to feel traumatized and not come forward. from what i have read and from what i understand, it's the most common response, to feel like, to worry about how that information would be treated. so, i'm not surprised that she struck -- anyway, i was disappointed in the president's comment. and, i think the way he could have handled this differently was he could have said, thank you for sharing this information, we'll look into it. it would have been that simple. >> what do you think, ultimately, is christine's wish and hope for what comes out of this? >> i think improper

roy charles waller. >> he's accused of a series of tacks from sonoma over 27 years. laura anthony is live with the details on the arrest and the dna that led them to waller. >> reporter: we are in woodland. this is where one of waller's alleged victims was attacked. this investigation mirrors the technique used to catch the suspect in the golden state killer case. five months ago, they used in the rapist case. after three decades and ten cases, investigators say they findly got their man, the man they believe is the norcal rapist. roy charles waller was arrested thursday when he arrived for work at uc berkeley. >> i have often said, in my

accountable. >> waller is married a uc ber n sacramento jail. >> he's a real-life boogey man. he snuck into their homes, and attacked them. >> reporter: that was the district attorney from this county, yolo county. he told me he would not be surprised if more cases or victims are linked to the suspect, roy waller. he's been charged in ten cases. his arraignment is set for monday afternoon in sacramento. in woodland, laura anthony, abc 7 news. >> thank you. i want to give you the time line. the first attack the norcal rapist is linked to was park. the fourth in 19196 in martinez.

richmond. you can see flames and smoke billowing from the back of the bus. traffic was moving by slowly. sky 7 was overhead for the aftermath. firefighters haven't said who was on the bus, but once sky 7 flew over a safer portion of the freeway, not far from the bus, firefighters were seen talking to people who appeared to have luggage with them and a pile of backpacks. chp is investigating a bus crash on the campus of santa rosa high school. the bush crash i aig 7:30. no students had to be taken to the hospital. golden gate district decided not to shut down lanes because of the concert with def leppard and journey. >> abc 7 has the details.

>> the bridge district is apologizing for traffic and adjusting. there will be no construction on the bridge tonight. what about bluegrass and fleet week coming up? they say they are taking it one event at a time. they have a project that they need to complete. here is a look at what traffic looked like last night on the approach to the bridge. this was taken by someone who works at night and faced this as a commute in san francisco, headed to the bridge. traffic was at a standstill because the bridge district is shutting down lanes in both directions. the second issue, last night, the zac brown band/eagles concert at at&t park. that created a nightmare. tonight there's another concert, def leppard and journey. >> we are going to halt ivs capa easily.ight, keep thea however, going forward, there o

overnight from time-to-time. >> reporter: here is what they are working on. a suicide barrier, like a metal net to catch people who jump off the bridge. it will take three years to install it. the plan is to shut down lanes every night monday through friday to give crews room to work. tonight, they will make an exception. they need to complete the project. they don't want to delay it too much, but respond to the needs of the community. it will be a case by case situation. reporting from the golden gate bridge, abc 7 >> sxheacramento barber is responding after a colin kaepernick doll was seen hanging from a noose. it's a doll dressed like kaepernick, the former 49ers quarterback, hanging from a ceiling. the owner says it has been in his shop since 2016. >> i'm a die hard 49ers fan.

larry. roy waller worked here at the building behind me on the uc berkeley campus for 26 years at a safety specialist. he is now on investigative leave. here in the uc berkeley environment health and safety department, he worked as a safety specialist since 1992. he managed the training use for use of equipment on campus, including forklifts, aerial lifts and res praters. dna evidence led to his arrest. >> it's an unfortunate situation. it had to be around a campus where there's a lot of, potential victims. >> reporter: some students say it was unnerving when they got a copy of the e-mail, emphasizing that none of the crimes he committed took place on or near campus. this is nonetheless deeply unsettling. >> disturbing. i'm glad he got caught.

>> surprising that didn't get discovered until recently. >> reporter: uc berkeley pledged that ucpd will be reviewing any open sexual assault cases to determine if any might be related. the university says they didn't start fingerprinting employees until 2004. no comment from co-workers. >> leslie, any sense of how many rape cases will have to be looked at to see if there's connection to waller? >> reporter: we are trying to connect the dots on that. according to fbi data and the daily californians, there's been a huge spike, 44% in recent years. the number of rape cases reported. of course that's accelerating last year with the metoo movement. data shows a steady increase in the reporting of rapes over the last six years. of course, berkeley police have gotten their own reports in the perimeter around the campus.

there's certainly a lot that has to be investigated. at uc berkeley, abc 7 news. >> thank you, leslie. just in the past two hour, lawyers for the southern southn califoria talk about the charges their client is facing. they are expanding their investigation into more possible victims. a lawyer for dr. grant says he thinks the authorities are so concerned about the allegations he would have been arrested by now. they are charged with assaulting two women. people have been flooding their phone lines. >> because of your help, we have received over 50 calls and established over a dozen credible leads to potential victims. >> his girlfriend is facing charges. both have been released on bail. major new developments in the special counsel investigation into russian interference in the 2016 presidential campaign.

abc news learned michael cohen met with mueller's investigators several times in sessions that lasted hours. sources tell abc cohen is talking voluntarily, not part of a deal. cohen is cooperating with state authorities after pleading guilty to campaign finance crimes, regarding to payouts to women claiming they had affairs with president trump. >> if you are donald trump, this opens up, in my mind, an entirely new concern with regard to this investigation. >> abc sources say the talks focus primarily on financial and business dealings, as well as possible collusion between the trump campaign and russia to influence the 2016 election. they are looking into weather the president or his associates discussed a possible pardoning for cohen. deputy attorney general, rob rosenstein is denying a report

that suggests he might secretly record donald trump in the white house to expose the chaos in the administration. rosenstein says the story is inaccurate and facttually incorrect. however, abc news confirmed the n news from multiple sources. the report says rosenstein floated the idea of trying to remove trump from office. a student pilot is in custody after police say he hopped a security fence at florida's melbourne international airport. victor has the details. >> reporter: the student pilot who attempted to steal an airplane is in custody. it was around 1:00 a.m. thursday, authorities say the 22-year-old left his car running outside the airport. he jumped a barbed wire fence and boarded this american airlines airbus 321 jet that

normally holds 200 passengers. he was stopped by two technicians that happened to be on board. they tackled him. he took off running on the tarmac before police arrested him a minute later. he is facing several charges including tre including trespassing and attempting to steal an airplane. the fbi is investigating as they work to determine a ending their business relationship with alex jones and his website info wars. in a statement, they say a review found instances that promoted hate or discriminatory . rejoice.

apple. >> reporter: it starts at just under 1,000. both phones promise to be faster with an extended battery life. crowds were not as large as years past, making it easier for people to get their hands on the new toys. in palo alto, abc 7 news. two members of congress are calling on google to address concerns that youtube might violate the privacy of children. rhode island democrats sent a letter to google's ceo for details about how the service collects data. the letter comes months after privacy advocates filed a complaint with the federal trade commission accusing them of violating the law and collecting information from children under 13 without their parents expressed consent. >> walmart sounding their alarm with the latest tariffs. michael finny looks at how mom

and pop consumers could be hit in the pocketbook. >> it could cost you. walmart says pet products will go up if the tariffs are implemented. that makes sense. president trump seen here in china during a previous visit said a new round of tariffs beginning monday will start at 10% and rise to 25% at the start of the new year, if a new deal isn't made. walmart predicts if that happens, customers will pay more for many items in stores. china announced they would levee tariffs on $16 billion on u.s. goods. it urged the two countries to resolve their differences. >> what we have been seeing for months and months is becoming law. you can freeze and unfreeze your credit report for free. it makes it impossible for

a major milestone has been reached in the east bay. a dam has been completed at the calaveras reservoir. it sits nearly on top of the calaveras falls. david louie explains how this replacement project will boost reliability. >> reporter: one of five bay area reservoirs that supplies drinking water to 2.5 million customers in the county and the largest. the capacity is reduced to 40% due to seismic risk. the fault runs 1500 feet of the reservoir and the dam was deemed unsafe. a new dam has been under construction for twors reached 775 feet. it's designed to withstand a 7.25 magnitude earthquake. it actually has the ability to wiggle a bit, so if there

shaking, it won't fracture because of the alignment of the falls. it should be in good shape following an earthquake on the fault. >> reporter: this is time lapse video shot by the utilities commission. the project ran into delays because of an gent landslides on the site that required fill work to stabilize. that doubled the cost of the dam to $823 million. a lot of material having been moved to create the dam. enough material that would fill levi stadium four times. now that the dam is completed, the reservoir can be filled to capacity for the first time in 15 years. it promises reliability to millions of customers if water from the sierra is interrupted. it was built wide from the base and can be built higher for storage capacity, if needed. this is part of $4.8 billion needed to make it safer.
