be indecisive. it follows a request from dr. christine blasey ford's attorney. the e-mail calls the judiciary committee's deadline, quote, aggressive and artificial and calls the treatment of blasey ford cavalier. it followed a day when president donald trump doubled down on his support for judge brett kavanaugh. >> and i said we have to fight for him. not worry about the other side. and by the way, women are for that more than anybody would understand. >> reporter: the statements at a rally followed the president's tweet, i have no doubt that if the attack on dr. ford was as bad as she says, charges would have been immediately followed with local law enforcement authorities by either her or her loving parents. i ask she bring those filings forward so we can learn date, time, and place. susan collins, a critical vote in the confirmation process denounced the president's tweet. >> i thought that the

summer? >> as i understand it it was a really hard decision and she decided to confidentially provide the information to her congresswoman because she felt it was her civic obligation that has a member of this society that there was a background check going on. and she knows about information and analysis, and she felt that it was really important to share that information. she never intended for her name to come out. and she wanted it to be part of the investigation. >> what do you think ultimately is christine's wish and hopes for what comes out of this? >> i think she would wish and hope that women that experienced sexual violence and improper behavior will feel strong enough to confront those situations and that as a society we'll listen better and be more compassionate in our responses. >> like it or not, unfortunately, due to all that

rapist has been arrested. they were led to benicia resident roy waller. >> i have often said that dna is the silent witness to the truth. >> investigators used the info to put together a family tree. that led them to waller, who watched the description of the rapist. police arrested waller yesterday as he arrived at his safety specialist job at uc berkeley. investigators tied the nor cal rapist to at least ten attacks. one in 1993 in rohnert park. three more between that year in 1996. there were also attacks in chico and the sacramento area. cornell barnard spoke with one of the victims. >> a north bay victim is coming forward and sharing her survivor story because she wants the world to know the nor cal rapist

did not destroy her life. >> crying -- i don't normally cry a lot about this, but i have been waiting a long, long time. >> nicole earnest-payte said she felt so many emotions when she learned the man who raped her 27 years ago had been caught. >> it is interesting that when i saw his face i felt nothing. i felt completely numb. >> reporter: police say 58-year-old roy waller broke into her home when nicole was just 21 years old. >> i woke up to a masked man with his arm around me from behind like this and a gun at my head. >> reporter: she says back then police didn't buy her story. >> bottom line is they just didn't believe me. >> reporter: waller's neighbors in benicia say he was the last guy you would expect to be accused of being a serial rapist often doing the gardening outside of his home. >> it is disturbing knowing there is somebody in your commune who may have done such a heinous crime. >> reporter: they don't know if
