field. it happened at two different games last night in the east bay. our media partner, the east bay times, reports the first player suffered head injuries at heritage high school in brentwood. less than an hour later a player at freedom high school hurt his back. both were flown to john muir medical center in walnut creek. a 5-year-o -year-old girl i north bay will be allowed to take her cannabis-based treatment at her school. a judge ruled that brook adams can continue attending public school and bring her medicine. the decision overrules the school district's stance that allowing brook on campus violated state and federal laws that banned that type of drug on school grounds. some words of warning today about sharks in the bay area. it has nothing to do with swimmer safety, but about protecting the sharks. coming up, advice from one marine sanctuary. >> this isn't right. nothing's right about this kid. hear from an airport worker

lo ofha f already bay. and it w expanding in the overnight hours. so here we go with that wide range in temperatures, chilly along the coast right now. half moon bay only at 55 at this hour. but you contrast that to inland cities, well into the 80s. san jose pretty comfortable at this hour at 78 degrees. cool in the city at 60. san rafael across the bridge in the north bay much warmer with the current temperature of 88 degrees. but this evening, fall officially arrives today, later on at 6:54 p.m. and what's actually happening, the sun's direct rays are right over the equator. so in the coming weeks, those rays will actually sink south towards the tropic of capricorn. that will give us shorter daysd february. but overnight tonight the first night of fall we'll see a mixture of stars and clouds out there. it will be seasonally cool, upper 40s to lower 50s across the region, oakla, that overnit

weather service has issued a fire weather watch for the areas shaded in orange. essentially elevations above a thousand feet where the winds will be the most active. that will create some drier air overhead. humidity will be low. under the breezy, dry weather pattern, any fires that start can easily spread. something we'll be watching heading into the early parts of next week. here's the accuweather seven-day forecast. plan the next seven days for you tomorrow, bright, breezy around here, temperatures where they should be this time of year. everything begins to change, once again, on monday, monday is a day of transition, warming back up into the 90s inland. by tuesday and wednesday, offshore winds will develop. that means everyone will be mild to warm. 70s on the coast. widespread 80s and 90s around the bay. similar to last thursday. and then gradually cooling off upcoming next weekend. but tuesday and wednesday, it is going to be hot, no matter where you live around here.

has the latest from washington. >> reporter: dr. christine blasey ford has accepted the senate judiciary committee's invitation to testify, although there are still details to be worked out. her attorney responding to the latest outline from the committee this afternoon saying we are disappointed with the leaks and the bullying that have tainted the process. we are hopeful that we can reach agreement on details. republican senate leaders had agreed on friday night to push back their own deadline amid ongoing negotiations with the woman woman who's accused brett kavanaugh with sexual assault. he has denied the allegation against him. president trump has been subdued turned critical on friday. tweeting if the attack on dr. ford were as bad as she filed. #why i didn't report, others telling their own stories. senator susan collins from maine, a key republican vote, critical of the president's tweet. >> i was appalled by the

president's tweet. we know that allegations of sexual assault are one of the most unreported crimes that exist. >> reporter: the vice president speaking at the value voters summit, confirming brett kavanaugh's -- >> i believe that judge brett kavanaugh will soon be justice brett kavanaugh, and take his seat on the supreme court. >> reporter: blasey ford's decision to appear before the committee sets up a high stakes hearing next week that will give kavanaugh's accuser the chance to tell her story publicly for the first time. a san francisco woman is leading an effort to take out a full-page ad in the "new york times" in support of christine blasey ford, just like an ad that appeared in support of anina hill 27 years ago. >> i call on all men of good standing and good will to step forward and say that you stand

at the fbi. >> reporter: trump was aply referng tth oubombshell memosynd mccabe who took over as acting fbi director when the president fired james comey. mccabe later fired as well. >> they're all gone. they're all gone. they're all gone. but there's a lingering stench, and we're going to get rid of that too. >> reporter: according to sources the memos are notes from a may 2017 conversation in which deputy attorney general rod rosenstein reportedly suggested mccabe or others wear a wire when meeting with president trump. and discussed invoking the 25th amendment to remove a president who's unfit for office. according to the memos rosenstein suggested he could recruit members of the cabinet to endorse the plan. but sources say none of this was ever carried out. the president was not secretly

recorded. one source says the comment about wearing a wire was sarcastic, and born out of frustration. rosenstein first called the times report inaccurate, and factually incorrect. later offering a carefully worded denial. i never pursued or authorized recording the president, and any suggestion that i have ever advocated for the removal of the president is absolutely false. now, the president and his allies are rounding on him. some calling for rosenstein to be impeached. >> what does rosenstein have to do to get fired? >> reporter: it's a question the white house has been facing for months. >> is the president going to fire rod rosenstein? >> i don't have any announcements at this time. the president voiced some frustrations. but beyond i have nothing to add. the va has the largest budget in its history, president trump signed off on a 6% funding boost yesterday. for the first time it pits the

agencies total spending, puts it over $200 billion. the funding includes $1 billion for new electronic health records system. the $5.3 for disabled veterans and their families and $206 million for veteran suicide prevention. veterans say this is great news. >> the va system is what i rely on, and what most veterans i know rely on. if it wasn't for the va system, i know, myself, i wouldn't be here anymore. >> several veterans, including that man, got to see president trump sign the bill at the official event in las vegas yesterday. developing news, a spokesman for an arab separatist group were behind a deadly attack. open fire on a military parade, the victims included military personnel and civilians. three of the attackers were apparently shot by security forces, one was arrested, iranian officials say they

suspect the separatist group in the attack. e ain an liia doctor and his girlfriend accused of drugging and sexually assaulting women is expanding. prosecutors say they're looking at over a dozen new leads. they say the crime could date back as far as two decades, marci gonzalez has the latest. >> reporter: overnight authorities releasing new details on their investigation into california surgeon once featured on a reality tv show. >> you seem too perfect. what's wrong with you? >> reporter: and his girlfriend. grant robicheaux and cerissa riley, they know more than a dozen potential victims with allegations going back as far as two decades, saying the pair preyed on women in bars and possibly on dating apps, like bumble and tinder where lauren hayden said she met the 38-year-old doctor last year. >> he tried to tear my top off. when i was saying no, it was

like he wasn't even hearing me. >> reporter: the orange county district attorney's office said in april 2016 robicheaux and riley gave her multiple drugs. six months later investigators say the pair drank alcohol with a woman at a bar until the victim was no longer conscious. she awoke and screamed for help until a neighbor called police. investigators believe there could be many more victims this other parts of california and the country. >> we're going to do all we could do to bring justice for these victims. >> reporter: the couple denying all allegations of non-consensual sex. their attorneys questioning why it took so long to file charges. >> if the police and the district attorney's office was so concerned about these allegations, one would think that grant and cerissa would have been arrested long ago. >> reporter: the district attorney's office detailed the

looking like, the floods are coming. >> reporter: a safety zone has been set up to protect the barrier separating a river from a toxic ash pond. it's a concern in north carolina too. flood waters already breached a barrier near an electrical plant pushing chemical by products into the cape fear river. saudi arabia now has its first woman main anchor at the television newscast. it shows her sitting next to co-anchor, the nation had its first female anchor. female presenters on lighter morning newscasts. hawaii's volcano's national park reopened to the public today. the only thing missing is lava. the park's website says there is no molten lava to see anywhere. most of that park closed in may. this is the first time in years

an honor went up today in memory of a fallen hayward police sergeant. a portion of state route 4 was named today for scott lunger killed three years ago during a traffic stop. the sign is between lowell road in oakley and brentwood. the man who killed him facing charges. he was 48 years old when he was killed. there's a new growing backlash against electric scooters. emergency rooms are reporting an influx of injuries of people riding the scooters. >> reporter: the alarm is starting to sound on the e-scooter invasion, a two-wheel collision at top speed. another scene, paramedics tending to the injured downed by an e-scooter. victor was riding last june in new york when he says his e-scooter brakes locked up. >> so basically i went face first. >> where did you land?

>> on the ground, my face on the ground. it was terrible. i had really bad lacerations on my face. >> he says a bystander found him unconscious and helped him the few blocks to his house. >> were you wearing a helmet. >> i was not. >> why not? >> i didn't think i was never going too fast. >> reporter: doctors and lawyers are seeing crashes like his every day. some are pushing back, accusing e-scooter startups of putting profits over rider safety. >> we're seeing all sorts of accidents occurring due to these twices themselves simply not holding up. brakes not working, wleheels falling off, basic stuff. >> and e-scooter riders can be hard to spot on the road. last month in cleveland a driver struck and killed a 21-year-old woman. the driver was under the influence and charged with homicide. >> i've had one patient who suffered a severe traumatic brain injury. >> reporter: no official stats g an influx in e-scooter related

injuries. patients are regularly coming in now requiring urgent surgery because the devices are so new insurance policies may not cover any resulting medical bills. in the past year california-based bird has launched shareable e-scooters rented via smart phone apps in more than 40 cities worldwide and is now valued at an eye popping $2 billion. >> the goal of bird is to reduce car traffic and trips. people have been trying to find ways to get americans out of cars for a long time. we think bird can have a big impact. >> reporter: bird says users should be 18 or older, and should wear a helmet. riders routinely break the rules. in a statement bird told cnn safety is our top priority. for those involved in any incidents with bird scooters, we strongly recommend reporting these to bird so we can take necessary action on our platform. >> the wheel twisted because the brakes, they just launch on their own.

>> reporter: victor sued the maker of his scooter, immotor didn't respond. for san an dres, he's issued his own verdict. >> would you ever get on one of these things again? >> no, no, way. >> reporter: samuel burk, cnn, new york. police are crediting mosquitos with helping them nab a robbery suspect. the man is loading up his cart with more than $1,400 worth of alcohol, running out the store with the booze to a getaway car. the store manager called police who caught up with the car and chased it. at one point, one suspect rolled out of the car and ran into a corn field. police swarmed the area, so did mo mosquitos. an hour later he gave up. he couldn't take the bites. >> we handcuffed him, he had 15 to 20 mosquitos on his forehead at the time. >> police think the guy would have stayed in the field until he could get a ride if not for

half moon bay, you are socked in with the fog, down to 54 degrees. so certainly chilly there. but 84 in san rafael. oakland 65 with that fog pushing into the east bay. so here's the call from accuweather over the next 12 hours. we will track that fog, as it moves in from the coast and around the bay shoreline, upper 40s to lower 50s is what we'll drop to in the overnight hours. it's where we should be really for this time of year. the 12-hour day planner on sunday, a blend of sunshine and cloud cover first thing in the morning. it looks like that cloud cover may be a bit slower to retreat back to the coastline than it was today. so gradual clearing tomorrow. by 4:00, it will be a breezy afternoon. but temperatures, pretty much where they should be for this time of the year. about 70s and 80s as we head towards 4:00 and 5:00 on sunday. highs in the microclimates, south bay, comfortable day tomorrow, 78 once again in san jose, exactly where we are right now. 87, much warmer in morgan hill, 76 the high in cupertino.

pretty much above a thousand feet we expect the winds to be most active and the winds will come out of the north, gusting about 35 miles an hour. that will dry out the atmosphere as low, dropping the humidity levels. the combination of breezy, dry conditions means any fires can start and spread pretty quickly. that's something to be watching tomorrow night into monday morning. know the winds are going to pick up in the north bay to finish off the weekend. the accuweather seven-day forecast, getting you into sunday, bright and breezy out there, a 180 with the forecast, warming right back up for the first week of fall. you can see by tuesday and wednesday, we get that offshore wind developing, which means everyone warms up, even the coastline. heading into thursday, friday, upcoming next week, we'll gradually cool off. but tuesday and wednesday, certainly hot no matter where you live. >> does that make you feel better, the cooloff part? >> that's for you. >> a little discord in the thomas house, stanford fan, number one son, oregon duck. >> oh, no. >> well, do you have a bet or a wager on the game?
