wind isthey are still on shore. numbers, low to mid-80s inland, 70s and the bay. tonight, a fire weather watch e. i'll explain what that means, how long it lasts and how warm for the week ahead, coming up. >> thanks, lisa. new overnight, police had to tow several cars after a side show. the department shared these photos of 42nd avenue and interstate 880. officers dealt with with a large live show. there were different locations in east oak lavnd. it happened around 1:30 this morning. police say people were throwing the crowd was firing gunshots. it's unclear if arrests were sc civic station bart center. passengers had to evacuate, some leaving all their stuff behind after the station filled with smoke. katie explains whatell phone

video, bart passengers evacuating the civic center station as it filled with smoke. >> a bunch of smoke. >> a lot of smoke on this. >> reporter: san francisco fire responded shortly after 5:00 to find people scurrying up the stairs to market street. >> strollers, bicycles, personal property. we found a teddy bear down there. the police are trying to get it back to its owner. >> reporter: this was the scene, once the smoke cleared. >> i think it could have been anything. it could have been fire. i see writing on there, so it could be, i don't know something graffiti related. it looks like fire. >> reporter: the culprit, a ceramic insulator that supported the electrified third rail. >> more of flash. the insulator failed, makes a lot of noise and light and smoke. but, it's brief. nothing is actually burning.

christine blasey ford agreed to testify. the date was ironed out afterward between her attorneys and the committee. some of the details are in the works. it's expected negotiations will continue later today like the order of appearance. tonight, members of the political activism group orchard city vigil will hold a vigil in a show of solidarity for ford. we have reaction to dr. ford agreeing to tell her story. >> dr. christine blasey ford will tell her story, which accused brett kavanaugh of sexual assault while in high school. mike pence promising the hearings will be fair. >> the president and i are confident that senate republicans will manage this confirmation properly with the utmost respect. judge brett kavanaugh will soon be justice brett kavanaugh. >> democratic political

volunteers gathered at snake and butterfly chocolate factory to make posters for the event. the vigil is set for 8:00 tonight in palo alto. a san francisco woman is behind a fund raising drive to put a full-page ad in the new york times. it's in support of christine blasey ford similar to one ran 27 years ago in support of anita hill. >> we follow in their footsteps and ask male allies to do the same, step up and get behind the women and anita hill and now dr. ford. >> in 1991, 1600 african-american women signed "the new york times" ad in support of hill. harris wants 1600 men to sign the ad she is planning. she's raised $60,000 of the $150,000 goal. abc 7 is staying on top of the developments in this story with

new this morning, investigators say embers from a fireplace sparked a house fire in walnut creek around 5:30 last night. the embers from the fireplace landed on the wood shingle roof and that caused the fire to spread to the attic. they were able to get the fire under control quickly and nobody was hurt. fema will provide nearly $4 million to rebuild a fire station that burned down in last october's fire.

according to democrats, funding and insurance payment of $5 million will ensure they can replace the fire station. fema committed $1 million in funding. a group of north bay officials, including chris christie lobbied d.c. for the money. major recognition for young sailors who rescued a stranded kayaker. it happened in the water off rich monld. the commander of san francisco projected members of the sea scout program with honors yesterday. the kids heard a coast card broadcast about the missing kayaker, then they spotted the kayaker in the water near the san rafael bridge. >> it was surreal. late at night, we saw them off the bow. we dropped the sail, came around for him, got him on board. >> the coast guard commander says the scouts saved the man's

life. he had been drinking in the 60-degree water almost six hours. a family is relieved after a judge ruled a 5-year-old girl will be able to take her cannabis based medication at school. it's treatment for a rare form of epilepsy. she can continue going to school and take her medicine with her. it overrules the law that it violated the laws that banned that type of drug on school drugs. the medicine is effective and the nurse administers it by mouth. >> within three to four minutes it stops. before, we would have been calling 911 for a prolonged seizure, 15 minutes, an hour or longer. this way, they can go on with their school day. >> the school district is pleased with the decision since it provides them with guidance on the issue of cannabis based medication on campus. a warning for parents. the amount of kids and teens

vaping in marin county more than doubled in two years. county health officials are addressing a state survey that tracked vaping among seventh and ninth and 11th graders. the largest increase was among 11th graders. it reflects a national trend. marin's board of supervisors is considering following other counties and banning the sale of vaping products. in the east bay, a protest outside wells fargo and jpmorgan banks. abc 7 news was in oakland at the wells fargo on lakeshore avenue. protesters raised several issues, including the wells fargo finances for profit prison corporations. they operatemmigration detense centers. customers can take action with the money. >> people that bank with us aren't doing anything intentionally wrong.

the proposed rule would make it more difficult for imgranlts that benefit from food stamps and medicaid to stay in the country. the plan promotes self-sufficiency for immigrants and ensure they are not likely to become tax burdens on taxpayers. however, immigrant advocates call it cutting illegal immigration without going through congress. lawmakers will take up a bill about airline seat sizes. they would set minimum requirements for seats to promote health and well being by providing much needed leg room and prevent them from bumping passengers who already boarded a plane. an alert if you plan to ride bart today. several stations are closed for track repairs. no stations running between 19th and lake merit. there will be buses to take through. there is no bus ser visit at
