60s at the coast at noon. barely 70 around the bay. barely 80 inland. at 4:00, a warming trend is coming back. 79 around the bay to 91 inland. i'll let you know how long that will last. frances has an update on the morning commute. >> a couple problems in the hayward area. that's why things are really slowing down. southbound 880, two accidents. one near a street. this one involves a big rig with injuries as well. and one in that area. another three-car crash. that's why traffic is backing you up southbound 880. your best bet is city streets around that to get towards highway 92. once you get across the san westbound out of hayward into foster city. that may be due to all the traffic backed up because of the accidents. bay bridge toll plaza still looking good right now.

an earlier stall and debris on the upper deck of the bay bridge. but things are back to normal. jessica, matt? thanks, frances. the supreme court showdown intensifies this morning. senator dianne feinstein is calling for the is senate judiciary committee to postpone brett kavanaugh's nomination. >> her letter to chuck grassley comes after another woman has accused kavanaugh of sexual misconduct. ramirez is the second accuser to come forward. >> christine blasey ford has agreed to testify before the committee on thursday. kavanaugh will tell his side of the story after ford testifies. >> the "new york times" reports they will give his calendars of the summer of 1982 to show he did not attend the party where ford claims she was attacked. support is in the bay area continues to build for the two accusers. >> another big rally is scheduled for uc berkeley. amanda is live in palo alto

where supporters gathered last night. >> reporter: yeah. matt and jessica, supporters of christine blasey ford have remained consistent in their message to her, saying we have your back. that was no different last night when neighbors gathered at this normally busy intersection in palo alto to he really echo that phrase. hundreds of blasey ford support issers were standing shoulder to shoulder on every corner of el camino real and 'em tpwarbg darrow road. embarcadero road. they have remained critical about coming forward. according to blasey ford's lawyers, she has since become the target of vicious harassment and death threats. >> we're going to hope that things are able to calm down and she can return to her life, but it's really not clear.

>> reporter: that was one of hundreds of supporters last night. blasey ford is scheduled to testify thursday in washington. it's unclear how the new allegation against kavanaugh will play out. but up until her identity was revealed last sunday, blasey ford and her palo alto. right now she is still in hiding. amanda, thank you. on a related note, the mayor is revealing she was the victim of sexual assault. >> she opened up about it to cornell bernard. >> i've only told one person ever. >> she is revealing a sperm secret that she only has shared with her sister. >> sit somewhat liberating but also somewhat frightening because you really do feel vulnerable. >> she was assaulted twice in the 1960s, the first time as a teenager getting a ride home

a service dog shot on the freew freeway. the dog had to be put down. the driver had injuries to his neck, but he is out of the hospital. he said laila the dog was put down yesterday. freit freitag had the dog sit issing there when the shooting happened. he started a go fund me for vet

bills. you can find a link at abc 7.com. chp still looking for the person who opened fire. a fire injured two firefighters in the south bay. take a look here. this is time lapsed video of the fire in east san jose. it burned more than 30 acres and is 50% contained. the firefighters's injuries are considered minor. and fires became an issue in the east bay. embers spark sed a second yesterday. ten acres burned near willow pass road and highway 4. crews got both fires under control yesterday afternoon. and if you are slowed down on interstate 580 yesterday it was probably because of a carr fire that spread toe grass in pleasanton. and here's where it happened on the map between santa rita and el charo road 7:00 last night. it burned the fence of a home. crews worked quickly to limit the damage.

this morning we are still watching a red flag warning, mike. that's right. it's for elevations above 1,000 feet until you get up to clear lake and solano. then it is closer to the valley levels. you have to be careful for the next, well, just about 36 hours. here's a look at what's going on with temperatures. 50. sunny side to 54 in financial and ocean beach and the ferry building. temperatures kind of cool in san francisco. downtown, 53. daly city, 49. hillsburg, 46. american canyon same thing. 47 in walnut creek. 49, pleasanton. even 46 in palo alto. santa clara, 47. saratoga, 49. the rest of us in the low to mid-50s. you can tell the longer nights, dry air and lack of clouds allowing us to cool off nicely. in fact, winds only 10 miles per hour in the west. a little easier to drive. at the beaches, sunny and calmer. around the bay, peaceful and

calm conditions. north bay prbgs we start at 59 this morning. fog along highway 37. 83 at noon. low 90s in the afternoon hours. down to 70 by 8:00. quite a dramatic drop. 56 this morning, we go to 72. hang out in the upper 70s this afternoon, back down to 65 degrees by 8:00. so today a little bit warmer than yesterday. and that continues to build in my accuweather forecast. i'll see you with those numbers next. frances, is that you again? >> it's me. hi, guys. good morning, everyone. a hot spot in hayward. two accidents on southbound 880. so traffic is crawling through the area as you make your way southbound on 880 from 238 to san lorenzo into hayward. one of the accidents involved a big rig. injuries were reported. now they are saying the vehicles are off to the right-hand side. we are still picking up a lot of slowing in the area. we'll keep track of this for you. of course if you want to avoid

with her at a los angeles hotel in talk about a film project. he arrived with a male chaperone. she made the other man feel unwelcomed. the escort decided to leave them alone. she offered him champagne, pushed him on the bed, and assaulted him. at the time she was 37 while bennett was 17. she was one of the first women to publicly accuse harvey wine steep of sexual assault. her attorney firmly denies the accusations. the sheriff's office is spending more than double the amount on overtime pay. mercury news says that's why county supervisors will consider investigating the sheriff's office for overuse or possible abuse. its budget is roughly $60 million. sheriff lori smith is part of her jail reform plan which she said the supervisors supported.

immediately postpone the nomination proceedings for judge brett kavanaugh. >> reporter: just after the senate announced the details of dr. christine blasey ford's testimony against judge brett kavanaugh a second person announced she had a me too moment with the nominee for the supreme court. this woman, deborah ramirez, a former yale university classmate, said he exposed himself to her at a party 35 years ago. according not new yorker. ramirez says her incident handled at a drunken dormitory party. she said she was forced to push his body participant away from her. >> when someone steps forward and accuses someone of sexual assault, it needs to be taken seriously. >> reporter: earlier democrats had been urging chuck grassley to slow down kavanaugh's nomination. they asked for additional witnesses at the hearing and an independent investigation. grassley has accused the democrat of playing games overnight releasing this statement, they are more interested in a political takedown than pursuing allegations through a bipartisan and professional investigative process.

and christine blasey ford. again, there are more people who may be called. certainly we know the democrats are pushing for that. alana zach, abc 7 news. reporting for us. thank you. area map accused of being the norcal rapist is due in court in sacramento. he was arrested thursday when he arrived for work at uc berkeley. investigators say dna and evidence from several crime scenes led them to him. he was charged with 12 counts of sexual assault against two women. authorities think he committed 10 other assaults including sa nova, vallejo, martinez. for the second time in just a month, the apple store at santa rosa mall has been hit by thieves. this shows several people running from the store yesterday

afternoon. they stole multiple devices. accrding to the press democrat, police took one person into custody. investigators are looking for cell phone video or other information to help identify the thieves. in late august, thieves stole more than $35,000 worth of merchandise from the same store. there have been other recent thefts at apple stores in walnut creek, burlingame and los gatos. happening today, the u.s. supreme court could decide whether to take up the martins beach lawsuit. tech billionaire purchased 89 acres of land surrounding the beach in san mateo county and closed it to the public. a california's appeals court forced him to open up the gate. the court said he violated state law by blocking public access without a permit. he wants it reversed on the grounds he doesn't need a permit for a gate on his own property. you're never more than seven

subscription radio company sirius xm is buying oak land-based pandora. the $3.5 billion stock deal was just announced earlier this morning. and analysts view the deal as a way to move beyond cars and into homes and mobile devices. sirius, look at this. with 36 million subscribers. pandora has 70 million monthly active users. quite a difference there. the boards of both companies have approved this deal. it needs approval from pandora shareholders. shares are soaring in pre-market trading with investors clearly excite build this deal. the deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2019. happening now, the man once considered one of america's most beloved celebrities, bill cosby, faces sentencing for sexual assault. the disgraced 80-year-old actor

the last two home series of the season for the giants begins tonight with the padres in town. filipino heritage night. 62 at 7:15. dress accordingly. mike, thank you. a new law signed by governor brown will require garage doors work during a power outage. it was inspired by the wildfires that tore through northern california in 2017. starting next july, any automatic garage doors you buy have to include a backup battery that kicks in during power outages. at least five people died during last october's wildfires because they could not open their garage doors to drive to safety. moms have another reason to breast feed newborns. a new study out of canada says babies gain weight slower and have a lower risk of obesity from those who breast feed. researchers emphasize even pumped breast milk is superior to none at all. all right.

got a couple of hot spots for you. it is happening right now and has been going on all morning because of a couple accidents. southbound 880 is a crawl as you make your way through hayward causing about a 10 to 15 minute delay. side streets might be your best bet. it will be a mess south of market district. traffic will be jammed because of the dreamforce conference. keep that in mind. you may want to consider mass transit, biking or even walking. here's a look at the bay bridge toll plaza. things are backed up taurld the foot of the maze. and i told you about the traffic hot spot. mike's got some hot spots as well. i do. absolutely. walnut creek is going to be one of those. concord, to your be north. the whole east bay valley in the 90s. 9 degrees above average. even san francisco a little bit warmer than average at 73 this afternoon. good thing because we have the warmer air without the poor air quality. moderate everywhere today through thursday.
