where you live. this is abc 7 news. two major decisions in washington, d.c. are in limbo at this hour, deputy attorney general rod rosenstein's job could be on the line, and questions continue to swirl around president trump's supreme court pick, brett kavanaugh, as another woman comes forward with accusations. thank you for joining us, i'm jessica castro. it appears deputy attorney general rod rosenstein's job is safe at least for now. rosenstein went to the white house this morning expecting to be fired, but was not. this is video of him leaving a short time ago. multiple reports say rosenstein spoke with president trump who is in new york by phone today and that the two are expected to

meet at the white house thursday, and this all follows friday's "new york times" report that rosenstein floated the idea of secretly recording president trump last year and that he raised the idea of using the 25th amendment to remove president trump as unfit for office. rosenstein has denied those reports. also happening in washington, d.c. this thursday, dr. christine blasey ford is set to testify before the senate judiciary committee. this as another woman now comes forward accusing judge brett kavanaugh of sexual misconduct. and this is video from washington, d.c. just within the last few hours, a group filled the capitol rotunda protesting kavanaugh, a second accuser says kavanaugh drunk edge exposed himself at a party while both were freshmen at yale. janai norman breaks down the latest claim and the response in washington. >> reporter: judge kavanaugh's

nomination has already been plagued by one accusation of sexual misconduct and now he's facing another, just days before his first accuser is et is to the man hoping to become the next supreme court justice now facing new sexual misconduct accusations. a second woman, deborah ramirez, judge brett kavanaugh's yale classmate is accusing the embattled judge of sexual misconduct. "the new yorker" reporting she remembers kavanaugh had exposed himself at a drunken dormitory party. despite the new allegation the president is standing by his no, ma'am into he. >> there is a chance that this could be one of the single most unfair, unjust things to happen to a candidate for anything, but i am with judge kavanaugh and i look forward to a vote. >> kavanaugh denies the claim saying, quote, this alleged event from 35 years ago did not happen. the people who knew me then know that this did not happen and have said so. this is a smear, plain and simple. ronan farrow co-wrote the story. >> it is not accurate to say

that those who knew him at the time dispute this. we talked to a roommate from the time that was living with him when this alleged incident took place who said he was indeed frequently drunk, that he took part in activity that made him unsurprised about i this claim and that he found this woman credible. >> this sounds days before dr. christine blasey ford the first woman to lodge sexual misconduct allegations against kavanaugh is set to testify on capitol hill. late july detail the alleged incident in a letter to senator dianne feinstein writing kavanaugh was on top of me, he tried to disrobe me. with his hand over my mouth i feared he may inadvertently kill me. >> kavanaugh has decide both accusations and one democrat is referring to both allegations to be referred to the fbi for investigation. janai norman. and support is building for the two accusers. another rally is scheduled for tonight, this one at uc berkeley. we are in palo alto last night,

hundreds behind the streets all showing support for blasey ford. we are expecting to hear from her for the very first time on thursday. again, that is when the palo alto university professor is scheduled to testify in washington. >> knowing her i think she will do just great. i just really hope the court listens to her because she has a lot to say and i know she's telling the truth. >> supporters are expected to gather again tonight, that rally at uc berkeley scheduled to begin at 5:00. abc 7 news is following all developments as they happen. you can get alerts right on your phone, just download the abc 7 news app. new at 11:00, authorties in the east bay are investigating a crash involving a chp officer. the officer was on a motorcycle that collided with a car just before 9:00, sky 7 was over the scene in richmond and this is ularbound hospital as a precaution. that officer is expected to be okay. the other driver remained on the

scene. developing n folks living there have less than an hour to vacate their current lot to another one just down the street. that new lot is already established as a homeless encampment for more than 20 other people. abc 7 news reporter amanda del castillo is joining us live in san jose with details. amanda. >> reporter: jessica, the initial plan was to remove the people living in this encampment out and then bringing in that other homeless group, but now you can see that contractors and county crews are busy clearing brush and prepping the lot to house both groups. two homeless encampments along rough drive were facing deadlines. for the 20 living here. >> we were told to vacate the premise by 9:00. >> reporter: but plans have since changed. the lot was going to be cleared and prepped for another homeless group living at homeville laj. homeless advocates set up hope

village in a state-owned parking lot before being moved outside seiu union offices. the county says the two encampments will soon share this lot. >> we have asked them not to remain here while the crews are working which will be through wednesday, but after thursday they can come back if they need to. >> reporter: hope villagers are being required to leave a temporary lot they've called home for the last week by noon today. crews will take the next few days to transform the other nearby lot into a space for both hope village and current campers. >> rather than them having to move they are just going to move to the back and we will take the front and try to coexist. >> hope villager charles nelson says the six-month stability he and his neighbors will soon have at the new location is more than he could have ever imagine. he says he's hopeful the two camps will learn to coexist. >> as long as we're moving towards something it's not a problem. >> reporter: here is another live look at the lot that is

currently under construction. now, until it is ready campers are being given vouchers to stay at area hotels from both groups, i should mention. now, once this location is complete the two groups will be separated by a fence. i'm reporting live in san jose, amanda del castillo, abc 7 news. we are expecting also an update today on a fire that injured two firefighters in the south bay. i want to show you time lapse video of the fire in east san jose. it burned more than 30 acres and is 50% contained. firefighters' injuries are considered minor so that's a bit of good news. high fire danger in some parts of the bay area today, we do have another red flag warning. mike nicco is here to explain what we need to know and when that lasts until. >> yeah, it's happening, it's that time of the year, it's the worst time of the year for fires. it's not only us, it's also the national forest up to our north, red flag warning until 11:00 tomorrow morning, the central

valley from redding down to yosemite is until 5:00, that's 2.4 million people. then you get into our neighborhoods and it's mainly above 1,000 feet for the east bay hills, diablo range and north bay mountains. solano county and up around lake county it is all the way down to the valley floor and that fire danger goes until 5:00 tomorrow afternoon. that's due to a northerly wind that could gust up to 25 miles per hour, but everything is so dry out there right now that even if the winds are around 10 to 25 like they are right now anything that does develop will spread rapidly because everything is so dry. we've got some heat in the forecast coming also, we will talk about that. back to jessica for more news. the bay area man accused of being the norcal rapist is set to appear in court in sacramento today. police arrested 58-year-old roy waller of benicia thursday when he arrived for work at uc berkeley. investigators say dna samples

plus evidence from several crime scenes led them to him. waller is charged in sacramento county with 12 counts of sexual assault against two women. authorities think he also committed at least ten other assaults including attacks in rohnert park, sonoma, vallejo and martinez. legendary comedian bill cosby is in a pennsylvania courtroom today for the start of his sentencing hearing following his conviction in april for drugging and molesting a woman in the year 2004. the 81-year-old could receive anywhere from house arrest to 30 years in prison. abc news reporter elizabeth hur is joining us now live from norristown with details. elizabeth? >> reporter: arrived and -- >> reporter: bill cosby back in court in pennsylvania facing possibly years behind bars. the former comedian found guilty in april of three felony counts of aggravated indecent assault

for drugging and sexual assaulting andrea constand in his home in 2004. >> each of the charges carries a ten-year maximum sentence. >> reporter: cosby will not speak in the sentencing hearing nor wilfy on his behalf. cosby's first trial ended in a hung jury, but a retrial resulted in that guilty verdict. one of the 12 jurors who convicted cosby explaining which key evidence led to his downfall. >> i think it was his deposition, really, cosby admitted to giving these quaaludes to women, young women. >> reporter: more than 60 other women accused cosby of sexual misconduct, including chalen lasha who now contend cosby must pay for his crime. >> i pray it's 30 years. he deserves every year. we all suffered a lot. we have stood up for many women and he needs every single year. >> reporter: cosby has always maintained any sexual encounters

with constand and other women were consensual and now he could be sentenced to up to 30 years in prison or sent home on probation. elizabeth hur, abc news, norristown, pennsylvania. new fallout this morning in the case of a white police officer accused of fatally shooting her black neighbor. she has now been fired. the dallas police department dismissed amber guyger today weeks after she shot and killed botham jean outside his own apartment. now, court records show that guyger thought she was in her own home and that jean was a burglar. guyger is currently out of jail on bond. happening now, abc 7 news was at san francisco's moscone center where crews are putting the final touches in place for tomorrow's dreamforce conference. sales force's annual customer conference is expected to bring in 170,000 people to moscone center. the conference has closed howard street between third and fourth

welcome back. new at 11:00, we have learned the latest round of recalled ground beef was likely sold at safeway, target and sam's club stores. officials say more than 130,000 pounds of ground beef from cargill meat solutions may be contaminated with e.coli. one person has died and more than a dozen others have gotten sick. the meat was produced june 21st. cargill issued a similar recall last month. you can find all the recall details on our website abc7news.com. in the east bay a group of neighbors are fighting the construction of a large mall that features an ikea. tomorrow the dublin planning commission will vote on whether to recommend the city council approve or reject the project. the mall would be built on the corner of 580 and hacienda drive. some neighbors in the area argue it would make traffic worse and compete with local businesses. if the council approves the mall, it is set to open in the summer of 2020. you will soon be able to

with mike nicco. >> i actually went friday night and yesterday. so it was a fun time this weekend at the coliseum. 35,000 yesterday and nobody left until the team left and gave them a standing ovation as they left. that was really classy. it was really nice. let me show you what's going on in morning, a few fingers of fog out there, a lot of haze showing up from mt. tam. we do techniqcally have an offshore wind above the marine layer. you can see the clouds hig hugging the coast. it's already 65 in san francisco to 70 in san jose, 68 in santa rosa, 66 napa and nearing 80 in many of our east bay valley neighborhoods. here is a look at some of those haze, not a spare the air day, just hazy sunshine due to the building warmth and stagnant air. the high fire danger continues through tomorrow afternoon at 5:00 and cooler than average temperatures for the weekend. high pressure and low pressure pulling most of our wind offshore and that's why we're seeing temperatures like this in the south bay, 90s around morgan hill and gilroy, 82 milpitas, 86

san jose. on the peninsula, 74 to 84 is your spread, a pretty big one for you. then we will have mid 60s along the coast this afternoon and we will near mid 70s in downtown and south san francisco and sausalito. mid to upper 80s through most of the north bay, low to mid 90s. the most comfortable weather along the east bay shore is in hercules, richmond and berkeley, mid to upper 70s. definitely uncomfortable in our east bay valleys with low to mid 90s. we have six games left in the giants season, all at home, they start tonight, padres in town, filipino heritage night. dropping down to 59, it will be cool but not quite that breezy. most of the breezes are right across the golden gate bridge. as we braj down your 12 hour planner 62 at the coast this afternoon, 79 around the bay, 91 inland. we will be in the 50s, 60s and 70s at 8:00 and just 50s and 60s by midnight on our way down to 40s and 50s. it continues to be very cool during the overnight hours. here is my accuweather seven-day

center. the winter themed park will feature a 6,000 square foot ice rink and lighted forest. it is set to open november 30th. tickets will be 15 bucks and of course san francisco traditionally have the two winter ice rinks, one at union square, another at the embarcadero center, but you can never have enough ice rinks during the winter time. >> they're always busy. >> and it's going to be a nice day for some ice and a cold drink. that's what you said earlier. >> exactly. that's where you want your ice today, especially inland where the temperatures will hit 90 for the first time this week. >> enjoy the day.
