face to face with their alleged attacker after more than 20 years. >> i don't know if i glared, but i felt like i was glaring at him. >> reporter: the suspect allegedly started his crime spree in 1991. >> it was important to be here to stand up for those that couldn't be here, and to see him. >> reporter: investigators say they used dna evidence to crack the cold case. waller was arrested on thursday at uc berkeley where he worked for the last 26 years. waller's court appointed attorney expects this case to go to trial. >> we haven't seen the dna analysis. we're way too early in that stage. >> reporter: for the alleged victims, they say justice is on the horizon. waller will be in court next month where he is expected to enter a plea on october 30th. if convicted, he could face life in prison.

lawmakers in berkeley may be stepping in to protect protesters from a practice they say could put them in danger. ka lsohas more. >> reporter: protesters took on members of the alt-right next month, but they didn't know they have to face them again, online. but that's what happened after berkeley police arrested 21 people and tweeted out their booking photos and personal information. several, like jason, said the information was then used by alt-right sympathizers to harass them on line, a tactic known as doxing. >> my business reviews were slammed by white supremists, lowering the rating. >> so many were doxed by the at right, many of them were applying for jobs. >> reporter: some fear they could be in physical danger. supporters called on the city

council to step in and end the police department policy of posting suspect photos online unless they present a clear danger to the public. they have now introduced a measure. >> creating a policy to eliminate doxing and in a case where there is a felony or, you know, rape or some type of violent crime that is except. >> reporter: "abc7 news" attempted to contact police about their photo release policy but didn't receive a response. the city council will take up the policy change proposal tomorrow. supporters say it would ensure their right to protest would the threat of intimidation. >> we're united against hate, but the only arrests that were made were the anti-racists. that's an oxy moron for me. >> reporter: kate larson, "abc7 news." firefighters in san ramone put out a brush fire this afternoon. police helped in the response with a helicopter conducting water drops.

this was the second fire to break out in roughly the same area in the last 24 hours. homes were briefly evacuated. nobody was hurt. a grass fire that burned nearly 40 acres, was caused by a down pg&e power line. the fire started at around 4:00 yesterday afternoon near quinnby road. two cal fire firefighters suffered minor injuries. it should come as no surprise that fire danger is once again high in parts of the bay area. >> that's right. i'll show you where and how long the red flag warnings will remain in effect. the medical tests are in. the 49ers confirm what many feared about jimmy garafalo. it's been more than a decade since pandora changed the way we listen
