week, especially away from the coast. well into the 80s in the bay. inland, going into the mid and upper 90s. now a look at traffic with alexis. good morning. >> good morning, drew. it is not going to be easy geting into san francisco today. we have road closures in effect due to the closure of the trans bay -- excuse me of the salesforce transit center. transit agencies using the former temporary terminal instead. so we are looking at a little bit of purple on our traffic flows as we zoom into street level here. the one running parallel to the embarcadero is fremont street. that is closed between mission and hourld. . another closure in moscone is for the deem force conference. a lot of green is good news. another hour or so, that will look much, much different. so far looking good at the bay bridge toll plaza.

no metering lights yet. what alexis is saying, prepare for the worst driving into san francisco. >> a sudden closure of fremont street yesterday was just a mess, alexis. >> yeah. bus services at main and fulsom streets. that's where amanda is now. >> reporter: good morning, matt, jessica. it's still pretty early for commuters here in downtown san francisco. we're only seeing buses pulling into the temporary terminal now. while it is sure to be a hectic morning, you should know this is all to ensure safety at the salesforce transit center. now, the closure yesterday caused quite a mess during yesterday's afternoon commute. more than anything, the sheer confusion about where people were supposed to go caused the chaos. yesterday's commute competed with the dreamforce convention that shut down portions of howard street and an evening

deck near fremont street. it is beneath the rooftop park. the center is closed indefinitely. the beams were inspected before and after installation. this photo taken by a san francisco chronicle photographer shows a worker inspecting the area in question. the executive director was when they were installing ceiling panels. >> phase one of the transit center started in 2010. in november of 201, steel assembly started. all the steel came from manufacturers in the u.s. that does include the cracked beam. this is according to the trans bay joint powers authority. a month ago, the transit center opened. and of course the emergency closure happened yesterday. in total, eight years and $2.2 billion in the making. and there is a legal dispute between the owners of the

millennium tower and the joint authority. >> a judge ruled transbay powers must big up some of the millennium's legal bills. the executive director said he didn't think the cracked beam had anything to do with the sinking tower. in the east bay, a private school employee is facing charges in a child molestation case. 71-year-old enrique pena worked at palmer school near walnut creek. contra costa said he molested a girl not at the school. we have conducted an internal review of the groundskeeper and can share that a thorough background check was performed and found that there was no criminal record. he is banned from campus while under investigation. >> new developments in the south

bay. a homeless encampment now has a six-month lease. the board of supervisors agreed to a pilot program. the new site is on rough between the union office and employee development office. they put the organizeden capment together without a permit with the hope that it could serve as a model for future homeless housing. it is exclusive to people who do not have substance abuse or mental health issues. amriville location apple got hit again. on the left is all the locations with grab-and-run thefts. we will show you the video. we don't have any of that. the crime involves 6 to 8 people at 12:30 in the afternoon. no connection to the crimes >> a police chase in hercules end indeed a fiery crash. now this man is in jail.

southbound 101, ran rafael, looking good at 15 minutes. alexis, thank you. as we approach the one-year anniversary, there is a push in sonoma county to improve emergency procedures. county leaders want to install 20 warning sirens to alert the public during emergencies. they, along with santa rosa city leaders, are applying for federal grants to cover the cost. it is an estimated $850,000. the specific locations for the sirens will be determined after the funding is approved. william priest was tracked down after running from one of the fires. the fire monday burned six acres.

center, so howard is close well. back to you. thanks alexis, the cracked beam was discovered 10:00 yesterday morning on the third-level bus deck, but the terminal wasn't closed or evacuated until 4:30 in the afternoon. abc 7 news reporter a amy hollyfield is live at the terminal where the inspections continue phorpbthis morning. amy >> reporter: good morning, jessica. for all of our viewers in the east bay thinking about getting into their car and heading over here to san francisco, you might want to rethink that plan. look at what awaits you. of this is traffic coming off thereit i clod at howard. cars are being diverted. it is a mess. we are hearing a lot of horns honking from frustrated drivers. this is something to be avoided if you can. this is all because of the new salesforce transit center. it is now closed. and some of the surrounding

streets as well because of a cracked beam. they consider the beam unpredictable. so they are keeping people and cars at a distance. they made the decision to shut it down around 4:30 yesterday. this transit center just is opened a little more than a month ago. commuters yesterday said they couldn't believe it. officials seemed shocked as well. >> it is very disappointing we have to in convenience the public. but it is a safety issue and we take it very seriously and we can't take any chances. >> reporter: here is a picture from the san francisco chronicle of a worker looking at the cracked beam. it was discovered 10:00 yesterday morning while workers were installing ceiling panels. it is in the ceiling of the third level bus deck. it is underneath the roof deck so it has five feet of dirt on top of it. they don't have any information suggesting this is a widespread
