the wrong reasons. suspected drug dealings, arres, aerse, just a slice of life documented by one man who is trying to make a difference. good evening. thanks for joining us. i'm larry beil. >> and i'm ama daetz. a the police who patrol that area send tweets about the many arrests they make, but it's not that easy. one man was arrested nine times for drug dealing just this year. the district attorney's office says after eight requests the judge finally agreed to deny bail and revoke his bail. >> you may remember a city lost convention tourism in july because people didn't feel safe due to all the drugs on the streets. one man at eighth and mission is doing what he can. we reached out to him. he's become a social media vigilante. >> abc 7's wayne freedman with

reach back and take stuff right here. >> reporter: police would arrest that suspect for theft. they have the video. quote, we have prioritized the area, police told us today. we've increased foot patrols, especially in the last couple of months to improve quality-of-life issues and increased drug activity, but it's still frustrating because with every street tweet, politicians have yet to get back. mayor breed was busy. >> we want them to know, hey, guys, this is a problem, and you've got to do something about it. >> reporter: until then he'll keep watching and posting beathem, the embarrassing dealing. >> you see he took it out of his mouth. there he goes. he's pulling out his money and he's -- hee took the money. and he's going to take it out of his pocket or his mouth.

a dedicated narcotics tip line. it's 1-800-272-2548. that's the number to call if you see drug activity in the city. if you need immediate help for a nonemergency you can call 415-553-0123. we've put all these links on our website, abc7news.com. now, the same kind of issues are also a problem in u.n. plaza near san francisco city hall. police are continuing stepped up patrols of that area. they parked the mobile command unit on the sidewalk. the department said earlier this month it was putting extra officers at u.n. plaza as a result of neighbor come planltds. mayor breed is promising to act face on a new state laws to temporarily take away the rights of homeless people to get them care. in a tweet he said the part of the bill that expands

conservatorship laws will help those desperately in need. on monday, she said getting people into housing and social service programs is only one piece of the puzzle. >> we've got to address the people who struggle with addiction and mental illness. we can do all the cleaning we want. we can hold residents accountable more. but we still struggle with people who we're trying to help. >> the bill applies only to san francisco, l.a., and san diego. it was another incredible day on capitol hill and in washington today. just in the past few hours president trump said he offered the fbi -- or ordered the fbi, excuse me -- to conduct a supplemental investigation into the sexual assaultgation against supreme court nominee brett kavanaugh. it came hours after the senate judiciary agreed to have the whole senate vote on kavanaugh but with one kav yotd. -- caveat. that came only after arizona

senator jeff flake said he wouldn't support brett kavanaugh unless the fbi conducted an investigation. >> making sure we do due diligence here. and i think it would be proper to delay the floor vote for up to but not more than one week. >> flake surprised everyone with his change of heart. many attribute it in the moment two sexual assault survivors confronted him. >> what you're doing is allowing someone who actually violated a woman to sit on the supreme court. this is not tolerable. you have children in your family. think about them. i have two children. i cannot imagine that for the next 50 years they will have to have someone in the supreme court who has been accused of violating a young girl. what are you doing, sir? >> i was sexually assaulted and

nobody believes me. i didn't tell anyone. and you're telling all women they don't matzer, that they should stay quiet because if they tell you what happened to them, you're going to ignore them. that's what happened to me and that's what you're telling all women in america, that they don't matter, that they should keep it to themselves because if they had told the truth, they're going to help that man to power anyway. that's what you're telling all of these women, that's what you're telling me right now. look at me when i'm talking to you. you're telling me that my assault doesn't matter, that what happened to me doesn't matter and that you're going to let people who do these things into power. that's what you're telling me when you vote for him. don't look away from me. look at me and tell me that it doesn't matter what happened to me, that you'll let people like that go into the highest critical land and tell everyone what they can do to their bodies. >> one of the women who protested today, the second woman you heard in that elevator confrontation tweeted the

afterward, maria gallagher on the left wrote in part, i feel relieved. jeff flake seems to have heard mine and ana maria archila's voices. she's 23 and never told anyone about her assault before today. the other one is from colombia. she now lives in new york. she works at the center for popular democracy, a nonprofit organization. >> that was really a powerful video there. a man brett kavanaugh is hoping to replace returned to his hometown talking to kids about the constitution, but the confirmation battle was never far from anyone's mind, even if they were reluctant to discuss it. >> this is justice anthony m. kennedy. >> reporter: retired supreme court justice anthony m. kennedy was born and raised in

sacramento and served. he served on the highest court from 1988 until this past summer. brett kavanaugh is one of his former clerks and is now seeking his mentor's seat on the court. getting him to comment is nearly impossible but he could have been referring to yesterday's tense day of confirmation hearings when he told the young people this. >> studying the constitution, talking about the importance of civility and the decent civil discourse that's necessary if the constitution is to survive. >> reporter: civility seems to be a hot topic these days. >> we're still bound by trance sparm sparntcy and civility and integrity, but i do think with media and so much interest and so much at stake here, it's not surprising, al though many would find it disappointing.

used a woman's fitbit to track down a murder suspect and that suspect is an elderly relative. police say he killed his stepdaughter in her home earlier this mon and then he staged it to look like a suicide. according to our media partner "mercury news." police used 60-year-old karen navarre rah's fit bit to determine the exact moment when her heart stopped. then they looked at surveillance video from surrounding homes and found out he was near the home at the same time. they say a small weapon like a hatchet or ax was used to kill navarre rah. the social network says hackers exploited a vulnerability in facebook's code which revealed the you as feature. they turned off that feature while they conduct a view.

2:30, you start to see a few showers begin to develop. very light, very spotty, 6:00 to 9:00, 10:00, isolated sprinkles not out of the question. you'll notice most of the focus is in the north bay. sunday morning still focused, but a few of these drops may slip into san francisco and along the coastline, so don't be surprised if you see a little drizzle out there just about anywhere by sunday. tomorrow morning you'll see drizzle. 40s to 50s. it's going to be cloudy and deaf nitzly on the cool side. for the afternoon, a mix of sun and clouds but a few showers in the north bay. temperatures similar to today. anywhere from 62 in half moon bay to 76 in antioch. the storm impact comes in a light level 1 for your tuesday. light showers, a tenth of an inch for most of you. let's fast forward to monday. a lot of clouds by 9:00 a.m. a few showers showing up going into 1:00 in the north bay and

tonight, breaking news on tonight, breaking news on this friday night. president trump is now asking the fbi to investigate sex assault allegations against his nominee. the fbi will now look into dr. christine blasey ford's allegations against judge brett kavanaugh after another dramatic day today. tonight, the republican senator who was stopped in the elevator by victims who told him their voices must be heard. that dr. ford deserves a fair investigation. then, just as the senate judiciary committee was about to vote. that same senator, jeff flake and his bold move, pushing for a one-week pause to give the fbi time to investigate the allegations. also tonight, the cameras were right there just moments after president trump learned of this surprise turn. his reaction.
