in laughter. >> the president ridiculed christine blasey ford at a rally in mississippi last night, even though he described her as credible just last week. he told the crowd that kavanaugh's life is now in tatters, suggesting it was destroyed by false accusations, and then he went on to mimic ford's struggle to remember certain details surrounding the alleged sexual assault. >> i had one beer, right? i had one beer. well, do you think it was -- nope, it was one beer. oh, good. how did you get home? i don't remember. how did you get there? i don't remember. where is the place? i don't remember. how many years ago was it? i don't know. i don't know. i don't know. >> well, an attorney for dr. ford blasted the president's comments as a vicious and vile attack, and this morning there are reports the fbi could wrap up its investigation on brett kavanaugh as early as today. that's two days ahead of the

deadline. >> this all comes as "the new york times" has published a 1983 letter that kavanaugh wrote to his friends about a planned his friends about a planned beach week, saying they should obnoxious drunks. abc's cecilia vega has more on the investigation. >> reporter: president trump sounding optimistic about the fate of his supreme court pick. >> judge kavanaugh is doing pretty well, it seems to me, over the past 24 hours. a lot is going to depend on what comes back from the fbi in terms of their additional number seven investigation, but i think that judge kavanaugh's doing very well right now. >> reporter: friday's deadline to complete the fbi probe quickly approaching and attorneys for a second accuser, deborah ramirez, brett kavanaugh's yale classmate who told "the new yorker" he exposed himself near her face, revealing she was interviewed by investigators for more than two hours on sunday. her attorneys say she provided the names and contact information of more than 20 additional witnesses and that it was a detailed and productive interview and the agents were

clearly motivated to investigate the matter in any way they were permitted. the fbi also interviewing key witnesses, including mark judge, kavanaugh's high school friend seen here in their yearbook. the man christine blasey ford says was in the room during the alleged attack at that high school party 36 years ago. >> what is the strongest memory you have? the strongest memory of the incident, something that you cannot forget. >> the laughter. the uproarious laughter between the two and their having fun at my expense. >> reporter: so far the only public details about that interview come from judge's attorney, who confirmed mr. judge has been interviewed by the fbi but his interview has not been completed. we request your patience as the fbi completes its investigation. mr. judge completed his fbi interview. we are not commenting on the questions the fbi asked mr. judge.

with kavanaugh's nomination hanging in the balance, president trump was asked what message he's sending to young men. >> well, i say that it's a very scary time for young men in america when you can be guilty of something that you may not be guilty of. this is a very, very -- this is a very difficult time. somebody could accuse you of something and you're automatically guilty, but in this realm, you are truly guilty until proven innocent. that's one of the very, very bad things that's taking place right now. >> reporter: and before he walked away he offered his message to women, too. >> your message for young women, mr. president? >> women are doing great. >> reporter: and now a new letter from christine blasey ford's legal team to the fbi. they say they have sent letters and e-mails laying out witnesses and evidence to the fbi, and they say they've received no response. they are calling this inconceivable. we have asked the fbi for a

comment. so far they are not responding. president trump said he's fine with the fbi interviewing brett kavanaugh or blasey ford. is cecilia vega, abc news, the white house. hillary clinton is talking about the kavanaugh controversy for the first time during an appearance in washington, she called his testimony last week very defensive and unconvincing. she also burst into laughter about kavanaugh's claim that the allegations against him are to get revenge for her election loss. new york state is looking into a bombshell report accusing president trump and his family of decades of financial fraud. >> "the new york times" says the president received the equivalent of hundreds of millions of dollars from his father, mostly through dubious tax schemes. the report says by the age of 3 the president was earning what amounts to $200,000 in today's money and he was a millionaire by the time he was 8 years old. abc's brad mielke has more. >> hey, guys. yeah, we have been looking for details about donald trump's finances ever since he started the campaign. "the new york times" just completed an exhaustive review of his parents' money.
