one-hour increments. and tonight, jamie roche, kavanaugh's freshman roommate at yale in the fall of 1983, came to abc 7 studios to dispute what the supreme court nominee told the senate committee last week. he says he's not been interviewed by the fbi by what he describes as heavy drinking by kavanaugh. >> brett stood out for his drinking. people drank a lot. i drank a fair amount then. but brett's drinking was unusual. as i was watching or listening to and then reading and ultimately watching the testimony, is that i couldn't believe what i was hearing, because i would be in that room and he would come down and he was slurring and yelling and making loud noises and, yeah, very drunk. >> he tells abc news that he knew debbie ramirez, the fellow

student to accuse kavanaugh of sexual misconduct and believes her. here's the very latest from washington. >> this evening, the senate will receive the results of the fbi supplemental background investigation of judge brett kavanaugh. so i'm filing cloture on judge kavanaugh's nomination this evening so the process can move forward. >> reporter: the fbi was given until friday to investigate sexual misconduct claims against judge kavanaugh, but turned in their report early. all 100 senators are expected to have access to the report in a secure room in rotating time blocks starting at 8:00 a.m. for republicans, trading off with the other party every hour. for days, dr. christine blasey ford has been asking when she will be interviewed. kavanaugh has fully denied the allegations. earlier the white house said

they would not be interfering in the investigation. but ranking member of the judiciary committee claims the white house did just that, writing that this raises serious concerns that this is not a credible investigation. the white house spent much of wednesday on the defensive after president trump supporters laughed and applauded as the president mocked blasey ford. >> how many years ago was it? i don't know. i don't know! >> he's pointingointingointingog inconsistencies. could have corroboration for her inconsistencies. claims? can you fill in her factual inconsistencies? >> certainly the testimony by dr. ford was compelling. but you can't make this decision based on emotion. >> reporter: but now with the report in and a vote expected this week, the focus turns back to the senate and that handful of undecided voters. >> rallies were held around the bay area to oppose judge

calling a suspect seemed mentally channeled or on dr-- cd or on drugs and the sheriff's department says attack eed a deputy. this shows a man wandering around in the middle of the day. >> he kind of was mumbling, yelling, what do you want? what do i do? >> reporter: dennis owns a tanning salon and saw self-deputies surround the man. surveillance video from a hotel shows him in the street, as deputies arrive on scene around 1:00 p.m. he saw deputies toews the man, who fell to the ground and then got up. >> he came running towards me on this side of the street, and i was out in the street at that point, and i told him, get down, just sit down. >> reporter: the sheriff's department says the man assaulted a deputy, who was taken to the hospital. he says after the man got into another scuffle with deputies, he didn't look good. >> i noticed his chin was into

his chest, and he was drooling. >> reporter: he was later taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. how did he get tased? >> that's a detail we're investigating. >> reporter: the district attorney says his office will find out how the man died. >> the crime lab has to do its full assessment of everything, including the taser, to find out was he struck by it, and in essence, why did he die? and did the police, law enforcement here improperly use force? >> reporter: all right. so he says the sheriff's office does not use body cameras, but they do have dash cameras. so that video with surveillance and cell phone video will be key in his investigation, which he says will be done in eight to ten weeks. the injured deputy did get stitches and released from the hospital. kate larson, "abc7 news."

>> thank you, kate. let's turn your attention to the weather. we are not done with the rain just yet. we could see another day of scattered showers tomorrow. >> right now you can see some cloud cover from our emeryville camera. and it was a different story earlier. this is what the commute home looked like for drivers on 280 in palo alto. >> "abc7 news" found rain in livermore as well, and it was coming down solidly as you can see. >> let's find out what you can expect for tomorrow. drew? >> where we had those showers earlier today, we had downpours in the inland east bay. take a look over the past six hours. you can see the showers moving in. right now, there are still some pockets of drizzle, light showers from san mateo to fremont. this continues through tomorrow morning. a level one system with isolated showers coming just in time for the morning commute.

a shower that pops up, could have a downpour limiting visibility. we'll take a closer look at the showers and show you when we will get rid of some of this humidity in a few minutes. >> thank you, drew. on "abc7 news" at 9:00 we showed you a picture of a little boy who wandered into a gas station by himself in pittsburgh. he's safely back with his dad tonight. his dad learned he was lost by watching us. police knew very little about the boy other than his name, sam. sam's grandparents went to the police station to discuss what happened. things got heated in the south bay tonight. hundreds of people turned out to express their frustration overnight to turn two school campuses in san jose into affordable teacher housing. lillian kim is live there tonight to explain why they're so worried. lillian? >> reporter: dan, it's just an

idea at this point. but even that had people fuming. the tone was set early on. residents shouting, talking out of turn and interrupting. leaders of the unified school district scheduled the meeting to clarify information about two schools. their idea, build a brand new leyland high school and brett hart middle school down the road and turn the current sites into teacher housing. an idea that's generated plenty of concerns. >> not that the tenants are a concern, it's just more that this area would not really be considered a community looking area anymore. >> reporter: the idea is just one of several the district came up with to alleviate the affordability crisis facing teachers. but many wanted to end even exploring the possibility. teachers we talked with were taken aback by the fierce opposition. they believe teachers living in the community where is they

a lot of people in livermore are in shock following the deaths of two teenagers from possible drug overdoses. and tonight, we're hearing from the grieving mother of one of them. friends called 16-year-old a wonderful young woman who dreamed of becoming a hairstylist. >> i'll never see her get married. i'll never see her with children. >> grief counselors are helping students with their feelings. obviously it's very confusing and upsetting for them. dill bert cartoonist scott adams believes the other victim was his stepson, justin miles.

on the peninsula, relief may be coming for residents fed up with engine noise from planes coming from sfo. they will introduce a satellite system to alter arrivals. the system is called a ground-based augmentation system. the airport will test 13 proposed adjustments and submit them for approval. a big crowd gathered to hear tree women, including our own anchor, inspire the next generation of female leaders.
