the senate judiciary committee has the fbi's background report into brett kavanaugh. so what happens now? >> kavanaugh's college roommate said no one interviewed him. he talked with abc 7 news last night describing in detail about why the supreme court nominee's drinking was, quote, unusual. good morning on this thursday, october 4th. it is 5:00 a.m. thanks for joining us. you're never more than 7 minutes away from your accuweather forecast. meteorologist mike nicco is here. >> let's talk about unsettled weather. humid air mass. weak cold front could spark random showers with brief downpours and cause slick streets. we will keep it at a 1 for the remainder of today, into the afternoon hours. showers dancing all around us. quiet weather out there. you can see it is a little muggy and mold. upper 50s to mid-60s. we'll hang out 70 everywhere at noon. yeah, pretty much low 70s in the

here's what we know. there is just one copy available for all 100 senators. democrats and republicans will take turns view it in one-hour inclements. senator koerbg said it is not expected to be a full report but an interview summary. either way, the fbi will will have a conclusion. there will be a test vote tomorrow. if there are enough votes to confirm, a final vote could happen as early as saturday. >> okay. meanwhile, one of kavanaugh's college roommates at yale university said he was not interviewed by the fbi. >> he did come to dispute what they told the senate judiciary committee last night. cornell bernard has his interview. >> reporter: we are hearing from a long-time friend of kavanaugh. she is defending him. we will hear from her in a moment. first james roche. he is going on camera to say his

strongest memory during their freshman year at yale in 1983 was his drinking. he said he was stunned to hear his old roommate testify last week that he was a moderate drinker with no capacity for disrespecting women in his college days. >> brett stood out for his drinking. people drank a lot then. i drank a fair amount then. but brett's drinking was unusual. >> he's not that guy. i'm telling you. did he drink, yes. did he take tight too far, no. he had aspirations even back then to get into an ivy league school, go to law school, follow in the footsteps of his mother and be a judge. he was smart enough to know the consequences of doing anything that would jeopardize his dreams. >> roche said he knew the second woman to accuse him of sexual misconduct and believes her allegations. as you heard from suzanne, she said kavanaugh is not that guy. she does not believe he sexually

assaulted dr. christine blasey ford back in high school. cornell bernard, abc 7 news >> cornell, thank you. you can watch both interviews on good morning america, right here on abc 7 beginning at 7:00 a.m. developing news on the peninsula, a man spotted walking in the middle of the road died after getting tased by sheriff's deputies. >> kate larson talked with a witness. she has more on the investigation getting under way >> reporter: this cell phone video which went viral shows a man wandering around el camino real in the middle of the day. >> he was kind of mumbling, yelling what do you want? what do i do? >> reporter: dennis owns a tanning salon and you saw service's deputies surround the man. as deputies arrive on scene 1:00 p.m. he saw them takeus the man.

>> he came running towards me on this side of the street. i told him get down, just sit down. >> the sheriff's department said he assaulted a deputy and was taken to the hospital. after the man got into another scuffle with deputies he did not look good. >> i noticed his chin was into his chest and he was drooling. >> reporter: he was later taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. >> how did he get tased? >> that's a detail we're investigating. >> reporter: he says initially deputies were trying to keep the man and others on el camino real, a very busy street, out of harm's way. >> the crime lab has to do its full assessment of everything out there, including the taser, to find was he struck by it, in essence, why did he do, and did the police improperly use force. >> reporter: they do not use body cameras but they have

dashcams. that video, along with cell phone and surveillance video will play a critical role. it will be done in the next 8 to 10 weeks. the deputy got stitches and is out of the hospital. kate larson, abgs 7 news >> a grieving mother in the east bay said her daughter is one of two that died from opioids. she call her oshi. >> i will never see her get married. i am never see her with children. >> police have not officially released the teen's identities, but dill better cartoonist scott adams believes the other victim was his stepson, justin miles. liverpool police said two teenagers died in two days.

to serve a search warrant in florence yesterday. three of them got hurt. four others were shot while trying to rescue the wounded deputies. authorities eventually took the suspect into custody. he was holding children hostage. fortunately none of the kids got hurt. the officer who was killed just celebrated 30 careers in law enforcement. a former navy apprentice is expected to be charged after the pentagon received envelopes suspected of containing poison. yesterday s.w.a.t. teams swarmed a home in logan, utah. the fbi is questioning the suspect identified as william allen iii. it indicated the possible presence of ricin. a suspicious envelope was sent to the white house but intercepted. the letters appeared to only contain kastor bean seeds. amazon made a big splash with its $15 an hour

announceme announcement. now they will no longer get stock or bonuses. workers earn based on their attendance and work house productive. they earn stock if they stayed a certain number of years. amazon says workers will still earn more money even with the elimination of bonus and stock programs. happening today, san francisco mayor london breed will review a plan to add 1,000 more beds in homeless shelters. the chronicle reports that breed wants to have half the new beds available by next summer and the rest by the year 2020. governor brown just signed a bill into law making it easier for local governments to move the homeless into shelters. on the peninsula, relief may be coming to neighbors fed up with engine noise from planes landing at sfo. officials say is they will alter rivals at the airport to slightly help mitigate noise. it is called a ground-based augmentation system.
