he had aspirations even back then to get into an ivy league school, go to law school, follow in the footsteps of his mother and be a judge. he was smart enough to know the consequences of doing anything that would jeopardize his dreams. >> he said he knew deborah ramirez and that he believes her allegations. you heard from kavanaugh's friend suzanne mat ton. she said kavanaugh is not that guy. she does not believe he sexually assaulted dr. christine blasey ford back in high school. cornell bernard, abc 7 news the saneeo county district attorney's office is looking into a deadly tasing incident involving county deputies. witnesses saw a man walking in the middle of el camino real yesterday. surveillance video shows deputies arrived at 1:00 p.m. and then they tased him.

he fell to the ground. the man died at the hospital. the sheriff's department said he had assaulted a deputy, who had to be taken to the hospital to get stitches. >> in the east bay, a grieving mother whose daughter was one of two teenagers who died from a possible overdose involving opioids. this is ocean muth. she was only 16 years old. her friends called her oshi. she dreamed of following in her mother's foot steps to become a cosmetologist. >> she had her whole life ahead of her. i will never see her get married. i will never see her with children. >> police have not officially released the teen's identities, but dilbert cartoonist scott adams believes the other victim was his stepson, justin miles. liverpool police said two teenagers died in two days. it will take weeks for toxicology to determine the cause. police died this was too urgent to wait so they decided to share suspicions now.

>> in the south bay, the diocese of san jose will host another listening session to hear from parishioners and victims of clergy sex abuse. bishop patrick mcgraw said the new session will be next friday, october 12th at st. martin of tours, 7:00 p.m. and santa teresa parrish, san jose at 3:00 p.m. on october 17. advocacy groups say facebook messenger kids is violating federal law. the groups claim facebook is collecting children's personal information without getting verifiable concept from their parents. advocates are asking the federal trade commission to investigate to see whether it violated the children's online privacy protection act. children's groups want facebook to ensure the person who sets up the child's account is actually the child's parent. facebook says it hasn't reviewed the complaint yet.

let's talk about what's going on. pretty dry thi it is kind of muggy and mild. that will lead us to one last chance if you're out and about of random showers. it's going to be muggy all day up to 4:00, 5:00. the east bay, cloud cover through about 10:00. it becomes partly sunny. we hit the mid-60s. jump from the mid-60s to the upper 60s. by 8:00, dryer air is in. peninsula, same thing. a little bit warmer. it's 70. then the east bay valleys, dry air finally rolls in between 6:00 and 7:00. we'll top out in the low 70s. here's alexis >> good morning, mike. i want to follow up on a couple of situations we talked about in east bay. southbound 880, around a street, we had an earlier hit and run collision.

incident was pretty minor. the vehicle damaged but no injuries. that has cleared. traffic heavy from 238. and well south past the split as well. eastbound 580, north flynn road. not really causing any backups. the other direction, unfortunately, very heavy out of tracy. you're stop and go for a little over seven miles. construction now under way to ease the commute for thousands of people in the east bay. abc 7 news was in martinez when local elected leaders helped break grouped for 11 miles of express lanes on southbound 680. once the lanes are open, solo drivers can pay to use them. they will stretch from martinez, walnut creek and construction will cost $127 million. are you feeling down? new research shows a simple hug could help >> maybe kanye could use one. he was ranting on a tabletop. it somehow involves elon musk. we'll explain.

2,500 workers walking off the job is early this morning at seven different downtown hotels. >> the hotels have been working without a contract. they authorized a strike last month amid contentious negotiations for a new contract. as we mentioned, finally walked off the job this morning. and here are the affected hotels. cort yard marriott downtown, marquis, union square, palace, st. region us, the w, and the westin st. frances. marriott said they will still remain open. a live report at 6:30. >> san francisco police officers now required to respect people's gender identities and call people by their preferred pronounced. according to the examiner, they passed this yesterday. the police commission says officers who do not follow policy can face discipline. fathers are using the
