this picket line start up about 4:00 a.m. it was very loud they say. pretty impossible to miss. about 100 hotel workers off the job today. they say they want a new contract and higher wages and job security. the marquee one of seven being impacted by the strike action today. these workers are members of unite here. they are housekeepers, bell men, cooks, servers and maintenance workers. they say they have been working without a contract since august. they say they won't go back to the job until marriott decides to come back to the negotiating table. it is impossible to say when that will be. marriott international tells us in a statement just received a few minutes ago that they are very disappointed workers have decide go ontrikesrves in san f.

we talked to a few guests. they are very surprised to see what's happening outside of the hotel they aretar from management in the hotel saying we apologize for the strike action but services will not be impacted. we tried to go inside the hotel to see what was happening, how things were going but security would not let us in. we need to be a hotel guest and show identification. we are live in san francisco. >> thanks so much. here is a map of hotels effected by the strike. the courtyard marriott downtown, marriott union square, the w and the westin saint francis, all of these will remain open during the strike. workers have also walked off the job in boston as well as well in downtown san jose.

amanda joins us live with a closer look at the challenges facing those workers in the heart of silicon valley. >> yeah. the group out here is still asking for better wages but they also want job protection in the face of new textnology. these are advancements that happen every day in the tech capitol of the world. >> employees outside of san jose's marriott along market street say they want to be able to make ends meet. it is different from any where else around the world. >> i have worked for company for over 50 years. >> other workers are members of unite here local 19. union leaders say one job is all it should take to live in silicon valley. >> these workers have to work two or three jobs to make ends

meet. >> he says then there's the question of whether the one job will be around with the advancements of technology. with some hospitality jobs going. >> we want to lose our job because it is to the rooms. that's why we are confronting now. they had to talk to us. >> he says workers and union leaders understand innovation is inevitable especially in the tech capital of the world. he says those on strike deserve to know how the decisions will impact theirs. >> i am supporting three kids. all i'm asking for is one job. >> reporter: and you heard her voice nearly gone. she sand roughly 20 others have been out here at the back of the hotel since about 4:00 this morning. they tell me they will continue to stay on strike until their demands are met. abc 7 news. >> thank you. >> if you have the app you

before it sets and during the evening hours look at all of the white and gray go away. tomorrow morning there will be patchy fog around until north bay and along the coast. today a little bit below average. shark season is about to start. here is a look at the shark tank. it remains humid through about 4:00. you can see the tars. let's give you a time frame for the mugginess to go away. you don't see any 60 degree dew point. upper 50s. a little humid for us. as we head through time here is the clock. mid-to upper 50s at noon. so if you're heading out still a little stickiness. you can start to see a little lightness show up. watch as that starts to move in
