we have been quiet so far, mike. not much issues to talk about. golden gate bridge, southbound 101, from the north bay, we are incident free. it looks like the trucks have been through as well. you don't need the room yet. 580, tracy to dublin, you're in the yellow at 33 minutes. the only drive time we have so far. antioch to concord looks good in the green, 14. san rafael to san francisco, there you go. that is also in the green at 15 minutes. crews will be working to repair damage to an overpass on highway 17 because of this. a big piece of construction commitment hit the overpass near highway 9 and knocked out several pieces of concrete. as you can manage, this triggered a major traffic jam southbound on highway 17 throughout the evening commute yesterday. we got the all clear from chp a little bit before we went on the air for highway 17. we still have that overpass

closed itself. if you're traveling highway 17, you should be justify fine. guys, back to you. developing news, the senate is scheduled to meet in 90 minutes for a procedural vote on the brett kavanaugh supreme court nomination. >> all 100 senators will meet on capitol hill at 6:30. a cloture vote is schedule said for 7:30. the final confirmation vote could happen tomorrow. susan collins, jeff flick, lisa murkows murkowski are all undecided. the vote could remain open until sunday morning. kavanaugh is defending himself in an op-ed for "the wall street journa journal". he notes i might have been too emotional at times. he said he is an independent, impartial judge. >> many people pro testing ahead of today's vote.

state lawmakers -- i should say officials tell state lawmakers average waits have dropped by about an hour. now they are about 73 minutes. they credit extended hours and hiring extra workers. however, two local lawmakers are urging the dmv to do more. >> but we really have to look outside the box at things we can do to increase the comfort level for our con teustituentconstitu >> allow people to do things without having to go to the dmv offices. that should be something that should be increased. >> the dmv says lines got longer when drivers tried to get the new real i.d. that airports will require for travel in two years. >> in the east bay, the newest tough shed community is expected to open today at lake merritt. the thirds of its kind in less than a year. it's part of a larger strategy to combat the city's homeless problem that is growing.

of 127 people, more than half have gone to permanent houses. a quarter have found employment. some people living in a tent encampment near lake merritt are hopeful they'll get to move into the tough shed village a hundred yards away. >> they hope they can have them all end up in tough sheds, 40 capacity. and there's far more than 40 people homeless around here. >> people living nearby will get the first chance to move into the tough shed village. after that they will have a certain amount of time to move away from lake merritt. if there's a homeless issue where you live, use the #betterbayarea. take a picture and show it on social media. once we know about it we can try to do something about it. it's part of our ongoing commitment to building a better

after a home invasion in alamo. neighbors say the victim was robbed after being surprised outside a house on evelyn court just before 9:30 last night. investigators say the three men were wearing ski masks and armed with at least two guns. they were hit with a chair and then they were directed into the garage. they man off with cell phone, cash and other times. in the south bay, san jose police looking for more victims after a high school volleyball coach was accused of molestation. he improper touched three boys that played for him. the cases go back to april of left year. samonte coached at independence high. the boys were students and played on the volleyball team. police arrested the man wednesday after the school contacted investigators. administrators fired him. >> new details about the salesforce transit center. san francisco mayor london breed and the oakland mayor want an inspect review of what caused

trees are creating headaches in one san francisco neighborhood. abc 7 was on on 24th street near florida. and it did not take long to find the problem. the roots are running all over the place. a woman said they are breaking pipes, they have caused $15,000 in damage to her aunt's building. and she said there is an easy fix before the trees become a much bigger problem. >> we need them to take down the trees. it's a danger now. it's a real danger. and it's a liability. somebody is going to get hurt. >> she has filed three complaints with the city about the trees but has not heard back. whales have started migrating south along our coast. wait until you see this video. these folks were in the right place at the right time. >> oh, no. she did that for us. >> stunning. >> isn't that just magnificent.
