broke out on lancaster boulevard. a medical helicopter to had to be flown in. as soon as we get more details, we'll pass that along. there's more trouble for the dmv. for the second time people were mistakenly registered to vote. >> this time 1500 people. some who were not even u.s. citizens. it's the latest problem for the department. abc7 news reporter amy hollyfield is live in walnut creek. >> reporter: sacramento is not happy. one lawmaker is saying, we can't trust the dmv to solve the problems that it has created. the dmv director is now admitting the agency may have mistakenly registered 1500 people to vote, including some noncitizens. the secretary of state says he is disappointed and frustrated. an is assemblyman says it's time for new leadership at the dmv. the dmv director hasn't said anything about stepping down but

did release a statement saying, quote, we have worked quickly with the department of technology to correct these errors. have also updated the programming and add the additional safeguards to improve this process. that is from the director. she says affected customers will be notified. but sacramento and some lawmakers have questions. reporting live at the dmv in walnut creek, amy hollyfield, abc7 news. 20 lives lost but not forgotten. last night more than 1,000 people attended a candlelight vigil for victims of the limousine crash in new york. >> the governor there says the limo never should have been on the road. they lit 20 large candles, one for each victim. community leaders expressed their condolences to families impacted by the tragedy. many are still trying to make sense of what happened. >> she's my other half and it's really hard for me to think about how i'll be able to go on

without amanda. i have life with amanda and life without amanda and it's really hard to think about. >> governor andrew cuomo says the limo driver was not properly licensed. as for the limo, it failed inspection a month ago. an attorney for the company called prestige limousine is on "gma" this morning and says the inspection was only over minor issues and they were all fixed. he says the collars were cleared to be on the road. in the east bay, a limo company is losing business because of the crash in new york. prestige limousine in concord happens to have the same name as the company in new york. they are not affiliated but they say people are calling to cancel their reservations. >> they don't believe that we ar really part of prestige

let's take a look at what's going on with temperatures. mainly in the mid to upper 50s in south bay. about 55 in los gatos. brentwood at 60. novato, 51. right now alameda is 59. look at that west wind bringing in, yep, the marine layer. it will be cloudy and cooler at the beaches. we have the small craft advisory if you're out on the bay and milder than yesterday. here's a look at the east bay where we with have 59 with a lot of cloud cover developing. we'll go partly cloudy, 66 at 10:00. sunshine at noon. low to mid-70s through the afternoon. 62 at 8:00. 57 in thes this afternoon. our east bay valleys, that's one of the areas that will get to 80. francis tells me she has a new accident so let's get tprty sern the south bay. southbound 17 at camden.

shutting down google plus following a flaw that exposed personal data. a "wall street journal" report first found that data was compromised starting in 2015. the report says google was aware of it but did not go public to avoid additional regulations. google declined to comment on that report but did say it found no evidence of personal information being misused. google said it is shutting down its social network permanently in part, because of record low use. facebook wants to make it easir to spend time with your favorite people even if they can't be there. portal, built spefktically for video calls. the smart camera keeps the subject in frame as they move around. the smart sound focuses on your voice, minimizing background noise. pricing starts at 200 bucks. responses on twitter show some people already have issues with it, citing facebook's previous privacy flaws.

as you've been mentioning all morning, mike, the weather has changed. >> it's not going to be dry, dusty and breezy. the fire danger is over for now. temperatures are on the decline. hi, everyone. here's a look at what's going on at sfo this morning. clouds are on the increase but no delays right now. the cooling sea breeze reaches the coast and bay but moves inland tomorrow. you'll notice it when you wake up in the morning where there's more cloud cover and patchy fog to deal with. the cooling doesn't last long. we have another autumn heat wave coming. cloud cover along the coast this morning. it pulls back by noon. a little sunshine. by 4:00 it starts to make an early push to the east. that means it's going to be a little cloudy across the golden gate bridge and bay bridge during the evening commute. take a look at temperatures from 75 at milpitas. as we head up the peninsula, 78, redwood city. most in the mid-70s.

minutes away from my accuweather forecast. that's the marine layer. it's back. so are cooler temperatures. not only this morning but look at this afternoon. our inland neighborhoods not as big a drop, but if you go anywhere from novato, san francisco, double digits cooler. more on that coming up. police in the east bay stopped a sideshow. it looks like pretty much any sideshow you've ever seen until this moment. so, normal, normal, normal. then you'll see in just a second, a horse goes by. i have no explanation as to why that happened, but it is unusual. this happened at whipple road and mission boulevard in union city sunday night. here's what happened. officers ended up breaking up the crowd. they made one arrestor a parole violation. don't know where the horse was going. >> so strange. a mexican bakery that's a fixture in san francisco's

you can see some low clouds hanging around. we're cooler this morning. mid to upper 50s. 64 at noon at the coast and then to76round the noon as the bay and inland. 74 to 80, not as warm as 4:00 as yesterday. back to 50s 60s at 7:00. more on the cooling trend and subsequent warm-up but first frances says she has a new accident. >> a new accident at 680 and vargas. it will probably cause slowing in the southbound direction. a couple earlier accidents in the south bay have been cleared from the lanes. one was southbound 17. you can see traffic has recovered. northbound 87 still a little sluggish heading up towards the airport. the crash northbound 680 at vargas not causing too much slowing but the southbound 680 ride coming out of sunol grade is low. dublin to mission boulevard south, red, 35 minutes.

>> thank you. new this morning in the south bay, people had to run out of their home a a fire consumed it. >> happened around 11:30 last night on mt. mckinley court on the east side of san jose. that is where we find abc7 news reporter matt keller. matt, you just spoke with the homeowner, right? >> reporter: i did. tragedy overnight in san jose. a man lost the home he lived in for more than 50 years and also lost one of his beloved dogs. check out the video from last night. you can see what firefighters saw when they arrived. this is on mt. mckinley court near the foothills. call came in after 11:30 last night. took firefighters half an hour to knock down the flames. they were delayed because power was still on to the home. the roof was close to collapse. the homeowner told me his brother tried to put out the fire with the hose but unsuccessful. all four adults were able to escape with no harm.

progress on a wildfire burning near sassoon city. unfortunately, it consumed a home beginning to a ranch worker. the fire has scorched 4,000 acres of land and 80% contained. napa valley will test emergency alert system at 9:30. a wireless alert text message will be sent to all cell phone towers in and around napa county. cell phones in range of an active tower will receive the message. the alerts come one year after the north bay wildfires. empty lots for most of the year, residents of the larkfield estates neighborhood came together for a block party. some have already rebuilt and are grateful for their new beginnings. >> i had really good advice from a good friend. you will always have the

memories of things you had. now you get new things. i'm glad the neighborhood is starting to come back together again. it's a good feeling. >> there is still a lot of work to be done. some families continue to battle with insurance companies. there are plenty of empty lots that have yet to break ground. it's already been a busy year for firefighters. the first nine months of this year, cal fire says more than 937 square miles of land burned in wildfires. that is more than double the area burned during the same time lastyear. california is entering peak fire season with october historically a critical fire month. cal fire says nearly a dozen of the state's 20 deadliest fires happened in october. san francisco's fremont street is still on track to reopen in time for the friday morning commute. a one-block section was closed at the salesforce transit center after a pair of steel beams were found with cracks. that was almost two weeks ago. engineers will try to determine the cause of the cracks. crews also are shoring up steel

beams on the first street side of the building as a precaution because no problems have been spotted on that side of the building. happening today, brett kavanaugh will hear his first arguments as a supreme court justice. he took part in a swearing-in ceremony at the white house last night. kavanaugh took the official oath on saturday just hours after the senate confirmed him. his confirmation delayed by the allegations that he had sexually assaulted a woman in high school. kavanaugh denies those allegations. kanye west is headed to the white house. the rapper is scheduled to have lunch with president trump this week. west is also expected to meet with the president's son-in-law, jared kushner, to talk about manufacturing, prison reform, preventing gang violence and reducing violence in chicago. that's where west grew up.
