in the transit center. we are looking to get a new timeline for when things will be back to normal. amy hollyfield is live in san francisco. amy >> reporter: hi. good morning, jessica. yeah, a few more days of this closure. look at the traffic behind me. it is not bad at all. there is no traffic right now. residents who walk through this area every day tell us it feels like people have adjusted. they have found new routes. so it seems like the area can handle a few more days of this. the job of shoring up this new transit center is complex. and it's taking longer than predicted. they thought they would be able to open fremont street tomorrow. they have now pushed that to next wednesday. officials say they want to be careful. they want to get it right. people who live and work in the area tell us it is okay with them. >> i rather have them be safe and to work on it and fix everything than to say open it up and then something happens and they have to close it again.

thousands of dollars in damage. the couple barely escaped. arsonists have set 20 fires since july. it is especially worrisome because fire season is far from over. new at 6:00, the trump administration waving 30 environmental laws to speed up construction of a border wall. that's according to the l.a. times. environmental groups are expected to sue. crews completed several prototypes and construction is under way for a 40-mile section in texas. kevin mccarthy is planning to introduce legislation to fund the cost of $23 billion. we are hearing from the woman who got kicked off her flight because she brought on an emotional support squirrel.

police escorted her off the plane and told her rodents aren't allowed on flights with squirrels as a support animals. >> and she said are you getting off the plane? if you don't, we have to deboard everybody. okay. deboard them. but i'm taking my squirrel with me. >> passengers on the flight from orlando to cleveland were delayed for almost two hours on tuesday. she said she had no problem getting the squirrel past tsa. frontier said when she booked her ticket she said she had a support animal but didn't say what kind. the airline refunded her money and gave a ticket voucher, but she said that's not enough. she plans to contact an attorney. i bet you frontier airlines a as we speak is changing their policy to specify what kind of

the coast, especially sunday, our warmest day. let's turn it on over to alexis. what's going on? >> i went back to the richmond area. rcle on westbound three vehicles 80. a tough spot to have anything blocking. it is still the far left lane. they did update the location. it sounds like it is around mcbride avenue. if you're coming from highway 4 to hercules, you can expect some delays. that continues to slow down. heading to the north bay, into santa rosa specifically, just before you get there, or there is a semi blocking two lanes. possibly injuries there. a slight delay has started to build. san rafael, southbound 101, no significant delays once you make it to this point. next traffic update in 10 minutes. san francisco unified the latest school district to ensure drinking water for children is safe.

the school met the federal and state standards. the american academy of pediatrics say even small amounts of lead is dangerous. if you go by the state and is federal were limits of 15 parts per billion, most schools passed. only six exceeded standards. cal berg said the standards are outdated. >> the american academy of pediatrics has recommended that we limit lead levels to no more than one part per billion. >> they have all been mitigated. we're awaiting test results to confirm our efforts have been successful. only 65 of 136 public schools in san francisco have lead levels in their drinking water of less than one part per billion. san francisco unified expanded water testing, flushed all pipes and installed filters. u.s. stocks plunge. we're tracking the markets and why financial experts aren't surprised the dow dropped 800 points. in the east bay, a popular

>> reporter: reggie and jessica, you're certainly right. it's getting hot here. hard to believe what we see compared to yesterday. there is so much to do. the focus shifted to recovery and survival with first emergency crews saying right now the focus is on getting to the people and making sure they're safe. this morning the panhandle struggling to comprehend the devastation left behind by hurricane michael. >> it is terrifying, honestly. >> reporter: we're getting our first glimpse of the raw power from above. panama city shows buildings, including a school, torn apart by the high winds. we felt the eyewall come ashore in panama city beach. >> reporter: the whistling and the winds continues to intensify. david witnessed its strength in nearby panama city. it's going to go.go.

you can see the roof of the hotel that we have been standing out there. that was the shelter for a category 4 hurricane. that has now come down to the suvs. >> reporter: the storm whipped through florida, toppling trees, knocking out power for an expected hundreds of thousands along the way. many areas here have been under a mandatory curfew. authorities telling people now is not the time to risk their lives. stay inside, wait for the first responders, and let them get out and help people in need. maggie rulli, abc 7 news. reggie and jessica. >> maggie, what are some of the biggest concerns right now? >> reporter: well, jessica, the biggest concerns right now are getting a look at some of this damage now that the sun is out. today first responders are hoping to get into the hard-hit areas. we have seen the the national

emergency stop in russia. crews had reached the american astronaut and russian cosmonaut and they are doing fine. they just blasted off from a launch site in kazakhstan when the rocket experienced some problems. the crew reported at one point they were weightless as the capsule flew free on its own. just a few minutes ago, the the the russians said they are suspending manned launches until they figure out what went wrong in this case. one developer wants to do something nobody has done before in san francisco. that is build can douondos as p a housing project. the site is part of the 22-acre hunters view housing project. the business journal reports this is the first attempt to transform public housing to be

more economically diverse. all right. you're never more than 7 minutes away from my accuweather forecast. here's a look at michael. moving. look at this. 21 miles per hour. 50-mile-per-hour winds. it's just to the west of columbia, south carolina. it's on a path to take it to lancaster and charlotte from south carolina into north carolina. look where some of the heaviest rain is falling. yep. up in the northeast corner of south carolina and moving into the eastern half of north carolina. that is still saturated from florence. let's take a look at what's going on back here at home. michael is going to rain there for about a 24-hour period. then it will move over. toward the weekend, it will hit great britain and france and bring them possibly flooding rain. it's not over when it leaves our neighborhood. san jose at the airport, 58 degrees. one of our warmer temperatures. alameda, 57.
