dry conditions, and gusting winds, that is the recipe for dangerous fire conditions in the bay area and parts of the region about to be under a red flag warning in to monday. thanks for joining us. >> that warning takes affect in to less than an hour and we are seeing something tonight that we have not seen in the past. >> pg&e are putting customers in several bay area counties on alert, their power may be shut off to attempt to prevent a wild fire. >> some received this text message a little over an hour ago and they could see their power shut off. with the look at the conditions and who is affected. let's check with our meteorologist, this is a big

deal. >> yeah, it is. we all know october is one of the worst months for fire danger and tonight, our winds will be increasing. our humidity will be dropping and that has put many under a red flag warning. that will go in had to -- will go in to effect tonight, we could see gusts as high as 60 miles an hour. and our north bay hills and east bay hill had-- bay hills. so fires can start and spread in those conditions. right now, the wind in the hills, generally are 10-30 miles an hour, highest gusts are at mt. diablo, we expect the winds to pick up overnight. tomorrow morning, future tracker wind gusts will show you in the morning, in the north bay hills, those winds are over 30 miles an hourer in the most active spots and we expect higher gusts in sunday night and monday morning. we will detail it and show you the forecast in a few minutes, guys. >> thanks, a lot, drew. as we mention, bone dry

>> reporter: she reported it to facebook and deleted them. >> we need to teach children to be good role models. >> reporter: civil discourse can be civil. >> we all are allowed to have political opinions. let let's have a healthy debate about it. today in the east bay, officials joined renters gearing up for the election. a group rallied in alameda to encourage people to vote no on the city's proposition k, prop k makes an existing rent control ordinance permanent, but it would get rid of two provisions. it would change the law so it can only be amended and repealed by voters, and not city council. they say it would make it to hard to adjust to market conditions. they say it's safeguarding a law that voters already approved. >> a senator is adding to speculation about a run for president in 2020.

>> reporter: good evening, we received word from the mayor that she is going to get involved with this. she is going to meet with union leaders about what is happening here at the strike. you can see here the night shift has just started and the people tell me that they will not be leaving nowhee in leaving, nor, will others until an agreement with the union has been reached. picketters going strong outside the marriott hotels and operated properties aren't san francisco. this video given to us by the union shows 41 hotel workers being arrested friday night. while rallying for changes from marriott, like higher wages, work safety and job security. >> these workers are forfeiting their pay for fighting for a better contract. >> reporter: a banquet server has been with marriott for almost 30 years. >> marriott refuses to maintain our benefits. and what they are doing now, is

they propose a short-shift of three hours so how will we even qualify for benefits with a three hour shift? >> reporter: some workers claim to work multiple jobs to make ends meet, or would like to, but can't because of the hotel scheduling. >> i would like that marriott would come back to the table and talk to us. >> reporter: the protest has not gone without headache. she can hair it from her room. >> roomservice is not working and the fedex is not shipping out packages which was an impact for us. >> reporter: david blink opted out of house keeping for rewards points. >> i hope that they really, you know, negotiate this deal, and get it over with quickly. because they do have great employs. >> reporter: the union said in other cities like boston and detroit, negotiations are not going well. >> marriott, clearly didn't take us seriously in either instance,

it's sad that they want to continue the strikes. >> reporter: when the strike initially started marriott released a statement saying in part, they were disappointed but would remain excellent service at their hotels. the union said they are scheduled to go back to the table with marriott in the next few days and they are remaining hopeful. reporting live in downtown san francisco. abc 7 news. >> all right, thank you. now, meantime, workers at ucsf are planning to go on strike later this month. the union that represents thousands of patient care technical workers announced that it will start on october 23rd and last for three days. strikes are planned for other medical campuses. the workers walked out before in may. ucsf will reschedule poim appointments but the emergency department will remain open.

we were if in jack london square for the tours of the tall ship, lady washington. through sunday, visitors can experience maritime history by taking a tour for a small donation for the floating museum. she is a full scale replica of the vessel to make land fall in 1788 and the first american merchant ship to trade in honolulu, hong kong and japan. well, today, a fall tradition got under way in the world's pumpkin capitol. it was day one of the 48th half moon bay art and pumpkin festival. among the events today, the great pumpkin parade. take a look at the giant pumpkin on this float. there were costumes and pie eats contests. less competitive visitors enjoyed the crafts, food and drink and four stages of entertainment. the festival is open tomorrow 9-5 and admission is free. >> well, street festival today in san francisco had something for everyone. the ocean beach music and art festival, featured djs and live

clouds out there away from the coast. we have clear skies, temperature wise, uniform at this hour from the coast to the bay and inland, where we are all sitting around 50 degrees. so, it will be a cool overnight period, but it's all about those winds. right now, we will take you in to the hills where the winds have been increasing over the past hour or so. you see diablo gusting to 33 at this hour, that wind coming out of the northeast and north wind. that will drag in dryer air as well. let's talk about the winds. hour by hour, we will stop the clock at 9:00 tomorrow morning and the winds are more active first things sunday. you see gusts over 30 miles an hour here. throughout the day on sunday, the winds will be active. coming out of the north end and northeast, what i want you to focus on. as we get in to sunday night, the winds are really going to ramp up. by 10:00 sunday night. look at the north bay. the winds are racing out of the northeast, over 40 miles an hour at times and the winds will be

active as well and in our east bay hills and the winds do not let up at all. as we head in to monday morning. early monday morning at 3:00 in the morning. you will hear the winds in the north bay and east bay hills, gusting over 40 mile answer hour at times. as -- miles an hour at times. we expect the winds to diminish, so by midday the winds really back off. but they will be active for about a 36 hour period. it's for the fact that a wind advisory is in affect. lasting through monday morning for the north bay hills. winds will be the strongest. gusting over 40 mile answer hour at times. -- miles an hour at times. those winds will drag in dry air. look at the humidity, it drops to dangerously low levels in the north bay and east bay, where relative humidity is in single digits. it does not drag that much. we continue to see the dry air. the windy pattern and a combo, that we know, this time of year,

any fires can start and spread easily. so, it's for that fact that we have the red flag warning. going to effect, starting at mid united, for the north bay hill hads and east bay hills. this will last until monday at noon. we have the northeast winds developing right now, 20-35 miles an hour. and they could gust as high as 60 mile answer hour. so, be vigilant, fires can easily spread. overnight, here is the call. the winds are increasing overnight tonight. we will see clear skies away from the coast. mid 40s to low 50s is what we will drop to in the overnight hours. sunday the winds will bring in warm temperatures. we will see widespread 70s and 80s. and the fire danger is high in the north bay and east bay hills as the winds are active. here is the accu-weather seven day forecast. it's windy in the hills tomorrow. monday, the morning starts out windy and the afternoon is not as breezy. so the fire danger decreases and

hundreds of people packed a church today to remember eight of the 20 people that were killed last week in a limousine crash. a combined service was held in new york for four sisters and four of the family members. last week, the limo they were in, barrelled down the hill and passed a stop sign, it hit a carer in a store parking lot before coming to a stop. all 18 people were killed in the limo, and two pedestrians were killed also. and an investigation in to the crash is under way. the new york times is reporting that jared kushner, president trump's son in law paid no federal income taxes for years. he is also a white house adviser. the times reviewed taxes and showed low tax bills. well it may raise a few eyebrows, given his net worth, it's likely no laws are broken.

a napa county wine maker is accused of falsely labeling wines. the oregon senators and all of their house of representatives have sent a letter to federal alcohol regulators. they are calling for an investigation in to copper cane llc, the company said that they are working with investigators and that the controversy is quota charade. the company buys grapes from oregon to make some of their wines. in the east bay, the chp's eye in the sky caught a suspected peeping tom. these pictures come from a police held had kopter that was flying over walnut creek last night. it responded to a call in concord of a man look -- lookig in the windows. the police moved in and arrested him. today a kidnapping survivor helped bay area families know what resources are available to keep kids safe.
