altamon with cloudy conditions at sfo. and mid- to upper 50s for most of you. golden gate bridge, and low to mid-70s and looking at vacaville where we have had the wind shift, and we will warm up pretty the much everywhere, matt. >> thank you, lisa. sonoma coun a fire broke out when a sheriff's vehicle slammed into a home in bodega bay. the vehicle slammed through the house's wall, and the deputy crashed after chasing someone on highway 101. the driver escaped from the suv but no way to know how they are doing now. they have traffic slowed at smith rivers road. >> and all of the dry wind and things that lisa were talking about are putting the firefighters are on alert as well as pg&e customers on alert to have the power shutoff in the

event of a wildfire. we have the story from the east bay with cornell. >> that is pretty cool, right? >> reporter: kids and parents touring the hayward fire station number 2. it reopened after a seismic retro fit and just in time. >> i see all of the dry areas that i see around. >> this is a unstable atmosphere for us. >> and red flag fire danger makes firefighters uneasy. >> we are on edge, because we know that any spark from the lawnmower or any type of the somebody pulling off of the sid wildfire. >> contra kosta fire departments' training facility opened the doors to the public as part of the fire prevention month. >> we came out to support the firefighters because they do a tremendous job. >> and all of the eyes are on the diablo range, because as the mercury rises, the threat rises. >> it is higher than we have seen in other years.

are in the 70s well out to the delta, but we are in the 50s here and cloudy, but it is coming together for a strong off shore flow the night. and we will talk about the wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour, and temperatures in the 80s a few minutes away. and also next, it has been half a century since one of the most pivotal protests in the vietnam war which with pg&e in the sierras. and i'm an arborist since the onset of the drought, more than 129 million trees have died in california. pg&e prunes and removes doer a million trees can't impact power lines. and since the onset of the drought we've doubled our efforts. i grew up in the forests out in this area and honestly it's heartbreaking to see all these trees dying. what guides me is ensuring that the public is going to be safer

it happened before 6:30 last night. the man was behind the wheel of the truck, and the firefighters say that he had a medical problem just before the crash causing him to lose control. it is unclear if the medical issue or the crash killed him. fire crews helped to ep sure that the house was stable and safe. many small business owners in san francisco want the city to help them make up for lost income when a ban on selling oto back c -- toe bay cbacco the ban ge gins in january and the merchants want the city to reduce the fees they are charged or be allowed to sell cannabis. to dday, the visitors of th presidio is going to be able to the relive one of the most emotionally-charged episode ss the vietnam war. it is a protest movement that happened here in the bay area, and men who participated in it paid a steep price.

this is dan ashley with the details. >> reporter: keith mather still remembers that sound half a century later n. 1968, the stockade at san francisco's presid e owe was his home. >> you were in solitary confinement in here? >> yes. >> they justner canever came to get you. >> reporter: historians say that the military was taking notice of the protesters. >> in 1968, there is about one soldier every three minutes going awol. >> reporter: and many taken into custody in california were crowded into the presidio stockade overlooking the golden gate bridge, and as the conditions deteriorated the clashes with the guards heated until a fate fful event that prompted the mutiny. >> and it is because richard bunch got shot and killed. he was one of us. >> reporter: he says that 19-year-old soldier was having mental health issues and one day as he was running away from the

guard, bunch was shot in back. by the next day, thousands of protesters stormed the presidio gates. and the tensions were so high that the people decided to stage a protest of their own calling them the name the presidio 27. they refused rank and to fall out for detail the. instead, they sat in a circle on the grass and read out a list of demands including the investigation into bunch's de h death. >> right after that, we were read the mutetny act, and we sang to try to drown out the captain so we could not hear, but evidently, that didn't work in our court martials. >> the first three trials that resulted in sentences were 14, 15, 16 years. >> reporter: 1960s defense attorney agrees with the historians who believe that the highly publicized trials and harsh sentences that followed were meant to the send a chilg message to the ranks and crush the expanding protest movement.

and harvest costumes and parades. the festival is open today from 9:00 to 5:00 and the admission is free. and now to the accuweather forecast with lisa argen. >> hello. low clouds and fog and more than you would expect with the off shore event and anticipated for later today and the low clouds and fogs have reached the inland valley, we are on tap for a strong off shore event increasing throughout the afternoon and into the evening and overnight hours. this is a live look outside from mt. tam where it is gray. 56 in san francisco, and 56 in san jose and half moon bay with morgan hill at 55. you can see the flag blowing at the surface, and the winds have not ramped up yet, and in fact, they are pretty calm. in the upper elevations, we have had hours of unoff shore flow with the gusty winds over 25, 30 miles per hour. 52 in santa rosa and nevada and

vacaville with the winds gusting up to 27 miles per hour, and low to mid-50s in concord and livermore. you see the warms out towards the delta inkreescreasing, and the expanding marine stratus, everyone is cooler. but as the marine is mixing out, the atmosphere is going to continue to dry out, and we will watch the relative humidity plummet here. and so, red flag warning through tomorrow, and the elevated fire danger north of east bay hills and down towards mt. hamilton and windier in the north. and as we are look at the forecast animation, there is fog on the coast, and call it partly cloudy and mix out, but it is not going away altogether the, and that is going to play a role in the temperatures of the shoreline. and take a look at how the winds increased hour by ohour, and we few hours up to 25, 26 miles per hour, and calistoga already 32 miles per hour, and cloverdale, and looking at the reds as they increase.

5:00 into 9:00 or 10:00 or 11:00, and in fact, stronger than we first anticipated with the 40 miles per hour winds in cloverdale and continues through 6:00 tomorrow morning, and in fact, spreading further south into the diablo range, and as we get into the monday, the noontime, still offshore, and they are beginning to back off a little bit. so the relative humidity is now up, and we have all of the moisture in the fog, and 78% san francisco, and add in the wind, and increase the temperature, and 6:00 tonight, we are at 12% in napa and the higher relative humidity closer to the bay, but by 6:00 in the morning, we are into the single-digit territory the here, and so it is very, very dry, and continues that way throughout the day tomorrow. so today, it is going to be warm inland and getting warmer around the bay. 80 in san jose, and 82 in vallejo concord where it is 85. so you will be experiencing the warmup around the bay, and 78 in concord and palo alto, and 79 in

good morning, north bay. let's get up and get going. >> this is "abc7 mornings." we are starting this half hour with the look at the weather, and here is meteorologist lisaargen. hu, lisa. >> we are starting out with clouds, but you will feel the winds ramping up, and by evening we will have a red flag with wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour. so they are sugs tare sustainedo 50 miles per hour bay. and so, you can see the winds off shore gust iing to 20 miles per hour above 1,000 feet in napa and gurnville, but here down at the surface, things are calm. we have fog and the golden gate bridge and mid-50s for most, and from the east bay hills camera, yeah, all of that. a typical day in the bay area,

is reporting that khashoggi is feared dead after walking into the saudi consulate last october 2nd. this is a mystery deepening when the turkey reported that a squad of saudiss landed and then checked into this hotel. then they mysteriously disappeared after they checked in and got into a van and headed to the saudi consulate. he back the consulate and lying in waitt for jamal khashoggi who went through the front deoor hours later, and never reemerged. khashoggi's fiance waited outside. his fiance had written an op-ed on his birthday saturday writing that the people who took us irrespective of the political positions must be held accountable and punished to the full extent of the law. according to the washington post, turkish officials claim to have audio and video recordings

come in from the northeast, and the mountains. so we are looking at a typical picture here from the summertime pattern, and by october, we get those dry winds, and unfortunately this is going to be lasting for a day and a half, and partly cloudy this morning, and red flag warning through tomorrow, and the winds are still going to be off shore even though we will dial back significantly and by about noontime. so as we are looking at the fog footprint, it is patchy and not much of it, and the beaches will see the sunshine, but it is not going to go away altogether from the north coast and even san mateo coast, and few areas here, and it won't be as warm. we will see the 60s to near 70s, but look at the surface winds which are quiet here, and here come comes the yellows, and as we are looking at that and clock them, boy, that is going to be windy, so from 5:00 this afternoon and 15 to 30 miles per hour, and then it is going to be windier, and 11:00 tonight up to 46 miles per hour, and the diablo range is in on this, too. the south end of the bay, you are not as breezy, but through

monday morning, it is going to be really, really windy, and then by the afternoon, we are still within the off shore event, but the winds will dial back, so as we are looking at the relative humidity, this is the measure of the moisture in the air, and it keeps going down even through the overnight hours where we don't get the marine layer back, and ascity, and san francisco into the 70s and north bay 83, and calistoga, 81. and then you head in and low 80s. it will be a cool night tonight with the numbers in the 50s and the accuweather forecast, warm today and gusty off shore winds and mild at the coast, and all over on tuesday, but the ridge is going to keep us mild for this time of the year with the 80s remaining inland. >> all right. thank you, lisa. when you book a hotel far from home, you may wonder about the room and the amenities a. bay area father and son traveled

thousands of miles from home only to find out they did not have a hotel room at all. michael finney has the story. >> reporter: it was the trip of a lifetime for lauren johnson and his son ryan. >> i have never beenb to new york before. >> reporter: to a father and son visited new york's famous sites. >> times square and see the 9/11 memorial and go to the yankees and mets' game. >> reporter: and then going to the baseball hl of fame in coopers otown and then the main reason for the trip. ryan and his team played in the annual kids tournament in coo r cooperstown. >> they are the kelly dirtbags. >> reporter: it had been fun and games until they pulled up to the hotel. >> where am i? is this the right place? >> reporter: they had booked a place at the holiday inn express, but when they arrived it was not there. >> reporter: the holiday inn was now the quality inn and he didn't have a reservation.

>> well, i have a reservation, but they said they was not in the system. >> reporter: and holiday inn sent this confirmation notice to him the day before. >> i need some place to stay. and we are here. >> quality inn said that he could book a room there twice at what he had paid. >> it did bring sort of a damper to the whole trip. >> reporter: and when he got back home, he contacted both of the hotels, and neither provided a refund. >> i got nowhere so i reached oout to abc 7 on your side. >> reporter: we reached out and they said it is the responsibility of the previous h hotel brand to contact the guests and reaccommodate or cancel the are reservations, and holiday inn said that every effort is made to contact the guests of the change, and we are sorry that we were not able to reach mr. johnson in advance of the stay. and both companies provided lauren a full refund. >> well, it feels really good. >> reporter: he said that he did not expect a free room, but he
