[ cheers and applause ] >> hi, new england. good to see you guys. so what happens is my parents are very brooklyn, very brooklyn. we moved to new hampshire, and it's first grade, and i'm very nervous about moy first day of school, and i say to my dad i'm scared of the boys. they are going to be nasty to me and blah, blah, blah, and my father in a very brooklyn way said go find the biggest kid and just knock him out. [ laughter ] and i was like knock out the biggest kid, and i said for what? and he said for being the biggest kid. all right. he did nothing wrong and i should knock him out. just let them all know. mark your turf. i go all right, fine. i'm terrified that i have to do this. i get to school. first day i'm the biggest kid there. literally like 14 new hampshire kids just beat the living crap out of my. >> jimmy: sounds like your dad gave you a lot of really great

from where i was shooting i saw my grandmother's name and i went over and said i had to grandma and stuff, and that was nice and then it reminded me of my grandma's funeral so my grandmother passed away. had the funeral in brooklyn. >> jimmy: how old are you? >> i was going to nyu. so i was 18. terrible. i loved my grandma very much. anyways, there was a -- on the bqe, we were driving to the funeral, all lined up, all driving in different cars. me and my brother were in a car and i was in a buick century and i had a great car. i was last -- i was driving, and then there was like six or seven cars going to the funeral, and then my car broke down on the bqe, and we couldn't follow. saw the cars taking off and i'm like oh, no, we're out and we pulled to the side and just on the side of the b question and we were just waiting and me and my brother are like what are wey going to do. we got out and laid on the hood

and suntanned ourselves until somebody came back and then my father, like 20 minutes later pulls up on the highway and goes what happened? and i was like it broke down. and he goes get in! and i was like what about the car. leave it. and we go and do did the funeral, and -- and we eat and all that stuff. ate at juniors cheese change, and then i was like what about the car? let's get the car. literally nothing left by the time -- i don't even think all four hubcaps, one hubcap and my brother. the. >> jimmy: you buried your grandma and your car on the same day. very sad. >> exactly. >> jimmy: was your dad a yankees fan in. >> well, eventually he was. when the dodgers left he became a yankee fan. >> jimmy: a brooklyn dodgers fan. >> a very big sandy koufax fan. my mother was a very big harold

koufax fan who was our pedestrian and apparently she used to cheat on my father with him. >> jimmy: you moved when you were you 5. do you notice how the ways brooklyn has changed when you drive around here? >> yes, sure. it's very nice now. it's funny. when i was young, the brooklyn zoo was just like -- i remember polar bears ripped somebody's head off, and threw -- threw it around and played catch with it. i went by recently, and i saw one of the polar bears was having bubble tea and recognized me, and i was like, hey, i like "bunch drunk love" but none of the others. >> jimmy: very. >> they polar bears. we'll take a break and come back. adam's new comedy special is great. you'll love it. called "100% fresh."

i was so happy to become a movie star. i was like let me just do movies, man, and then all my friends do standup still and talk about how much fun they have on the road so i started doing again and then i started getting really into it, and then some of -- ted soranos from netflix saw mow do it and said you should do a special and i said maybe. worked on it, worked on it for a couple of years. i do a bunch of standup and songs. >> jimmy: a lot of songs in it, yeah. >> i sing that one to my wife because i say so many jokes about my wife and what goes on and i make up stuff, but -- but i made sure i -- at the end of the special i told her i loved her. >> jimmy: she ultimately allows you. >> yes. she stares a little extra long. like, what are you saying i do? i never did that in my life. >> jimmy: the song you do about your bar mitzvah and there's animation that goes along with it. >> yeah. >> jimmy: is that story true? >> it's -- we try to come up with silly rhymes and stuff, but

it was funny. we wrote that bar mitzvah boys song and i didn't flay that much on the road, and then we were in newark, and i'm like there's going to be some jews here, so i played the bar mitzvah boy and behind me is there animation and david and robert schmeichel, works with robert a lot and did a bunch of cartoons behind me. >> jimmy: that came out great. how many cities did you shoot the special in? >> oh, man. it's like 40 different places throughout the special, i think. i was in so many great places, and i sang -- i was in wisconsin. i sing a tribute to chris farley on the special. >> jimmy: yeah. that actually made me cry. it's very speweet. >> it's very sweet and it shows footage of chris. he's from wisconsin because he's from there. that was amazing. >> jimmy: what do you think he would think of that song singing so tatterly about him? >> he would be proud.

like i really like that. can you send that to me again and she kept watching it over and over and she was so nice and then i went to a party and bono was there talking to anniston. >> jimmy: wow. that's a good party. >> yeah, that was great. and -- and so all of a sudden bono says i understand you have a special, and i was like, yeah, and he's like may i lay me eyes on it or something, i don't know. he didn't say that, but anyways, i -- sure, man, yeah, yeah, great, and so then hi to send the special to him and i called my editor up and i said, dude, you've got to send the special to -- i've got bono's e-mail. send it to bono, and he's like the bono. yeah, yeah. he was nervous as hell, and then he sends it and i text bono later, trying to play it cool. i wait a day or; hey, how did you like that thing? >> oh, i can't download it, and i was like -- i call the editor up, hey, listen man, when i tell

you send my special to bono, and i guess there was a pass -- password that he forgot to give bono, and i said you didn't give him the password. that's embarrassing, and what is it? >> i love bono. i made that up. stupid. stupid. bono saw it. he liked it. that was the good news. got a nice long text from bono. that feels good, first of all, normally i write code names of my famous friends in my thing in case my phone gets stolen and i stuck with bono and bono lights up and i'm like bono is texting me, and he give me a nice review. >> jimmy: you mentioned your mom it bloc stage. >> yeah, yeah, she's the best. she eats brooklyn girl, my mother. >> jimmy: does she approve of the material because some of it is dirty? >> my mother -- my entire standup career didn't come to one ceo. >> jimmy: really? >> my father would say you don't want to see this. but i'm telling you, and my mom goes, no, i don't.
