abc's emily rau is tracking all the developments from washington. good morning, emily. >> reporter: good morning, kenneth and stephanie. it has now been two weeks since jamal khashoggi was last seen alive and after fierce denials from the saudis, there could be a shift coming. "the new york times" is now reporting that the royal family is considering saying that all of this was an interrogation gone wrong. this morning, secretary of state mike pompeo arriving in saudi arabia. president trump sending his top diplomat to meet with the saudi royal family about the disappearance of "washington post" columnist jamal khashoggi after the president himself called the king on monday. >> the king firmly denied any knowledge of it. he didn't really know, maybe -- i don't want to get into his mind, but it sounded to me like maybe these could have been rogue killers. who knows. >> reporter: that denial despite turkish officials claiming they have proof the saudis interrogated, tortured and then murdered khashoggi.

a saudi citizen and former royal family insider turned critic who self-exiled to the u.s. a team ow at the consulate in istanbul, turkey, where 14 days ago khashoggi walked through the same doors to complete paperwork for his upcoming wedding and hasn't been seen since. and now "the new york times" reporting the saudis are considering a plan to blame khashoggi's death on an overzealous government agent. >> i heard that report. but nobody knows if it's an official report. so far it's just the rumor, the rumor of report coming out. >> reporter: that story line potentially giving the royal family a way out of a growing diplomatic crisis. now, some lawmakers want more action from president trump who's been criticized for his cozy relationship with the saudi royal family. the president, though, repeatedly denouncing the idea of canceling a major arms deal with the saudis because he says that would only hurt the united states. kenneth and stephanie. >> emily rau, thank you.

we turn now to senator elizabeth warren's dna test fueling speculation she may run for president in 2020. warren says the test shows strong evidence that she has a native american ancestor and she's demanding president trump make good on a promise to pay $1 million, but the president is pushing back and so is the cherokee nation, which calls the dna test inappropriate. this morning the cherokee nation slamming senator elizabeth warren. >> just wholly unhelpful for any national leader to cling to dna to determine or to establish that they're native american in this country. >> reporter: the pushback comes after warren released results of a dna test, which said she had a native american ancestor in the range of six to ten generations ago. >> what do the facts say? >> the facts suggest that you absolutely have a native american ancestor in your pedigree. >> okay. >> reporter: the cherokee nation says warren is undermining tribal interests with her continued claims of tribal

heritage. >> it doesn't narrow down the scope of who your ancestors were to any identifiable tribe. we need to be clear about what it means to be a native american and indian in this country and it really comes down to a legal status that we, frankly, have fought long and hard for. >> pocahontas, pocahontas. >> pocahontas. >> i mean, pocahontas, elizabeth warren. >> reporter: president trump frequently bashes senator warren for claiming to be part native american even offering to give $1 million to warren's favorite charity if she took a dna test. for trump the results were not enough. >> i'll only do it if i can test her personally. okay, that will not be something i enjoy doing either. >> reporter: warren responded to that comment saying, we all know why donald trump makes creepy physical threats about me, right? he's scared. it may soothe his ego, but it won't work. senator warren did not elaborate or offer any evidence of those alleged physical threats.

the lawyer for adult film star stormy daniels has filed an appeal after a judge tossed out her defamation suit against president trump. the judge described the president's tweet at the center of the lawsuit as political rhetoric protected under the first amendment. the president had tweeted about a sketch of a man who allegedly threatened daniels to keep quiet about her reported affair with trump calling it, quote, a con job. another caravan of migrants is heading to the united states in hopes of escaping violence and poverty. as many as 2,000 people from honduras pushed past police to enter guatemala. they'll now face immigration officials in mexico before trying to cross into the u.s. the trump administration is calling for new laws to close loopholes. residents will be allowed to return to mexico beach, florida, today for the first time since hurricane michael devastated the town, but they will not be allowed to stay overnight. town officials say remain unaccounted for. that's down from dozens over the weekend. authorities hope to restore electricity to one part of town in a matter of weeks, not

months. among the ruins on mexico beach stands one home virtually untouched. dr. lebron lackey says his family built the home five months ago with storms like michael in mind. even though building codes on the panhandle lag behind the rest of the state, he built the home using reinforced concrete and steel cables. >> we didn't really pay attention to codes as much as survivability and so, you know, 30-foot pilings, ours are 40-foot pilings. we don't have as much window space because we pulled back off the corners to make sure that the corners had a lot of structural integrity to them. >> lackey was watching video from his surveillance cameras as the storm came ashore, and while the ground floor and stairs were washed away, he was convinced there would be more damage. time now for a look at your weather for this tuesday.

s. fire crews saved a mother trapped on the roof of a submerged car. that was near cleburne. she sat on the roof waiting for firefighters who carried her to safety. she told them she underestimated the strength of the current. temperatures around dallas won't break 50 today, but summerlike weather continues in the southeast. temperatures are mild in the west. the northeast cools off a bit matching the temps we'll see in the midwest. well, coming up, a surprise for duchess meghan one day after she and prince harry announced they're expecting their first child. also ahead, if you're frustrated by the cost of prescription drugs, we'll tell you what the trump administration is now planning to do. and later, the cartoon craze. the favorites now set to make a comeback.

prince harry and meghan markle are already picking up baby gifts including one from a young fan. a little girl gave the royal couple a mini koala doll in australia today. >> yeah, harry told a crowd today that he couldn't think of a better place to announce their upcoming baby than australia. >> they're going to get a lot of gifts. >> they are. >> showered with a lot of gifts. congratulations to them. well, we turn now to wisconsin and the urgent search for a girl missing after her parents were found dead. >> a neighbor describes hearing gunshots, but many questions remain this morning. this morning, the urgent search for a teenage girl in wisconsin. >> we have a 13-year-old girl who's vanished, and we need to get ahold of her to make sure she's okay. >> reporter: sheriff's deputies in barron county say 13-year-ol. her mother and father found dead in their home.

>> i heard one shot, and then the second shot was even louder yet. >> actually sounded like a car backfiring or something quite large. >> reporter: investigators say a 911 call came from inside the closs home around 1:00 a.m. monday, but they don't know who made the emergency call. the line silent. when police arrived jamie was nowhere to be found. investigators found bullet casings in the house but won't confirm how jamie's parents died. >> something took place. i just don't know what, and that's part of the problem for some of the frustration that we're having. >> reporter: authorities are trying to figure out if jamie left on her own or was taken. they're now checking her social media accounts looking for any clues on her whereabouts. >> they were very, very quiet people. >> very to themselves. >> reporter: at jamie's middle school parents are praying she'll be found safe. >> i'm hoping and praying with god's help and the community that we all rally around each other and help find this girl and bring her home. >> we've learned officials are looking into a possible sighting of jamie closs in miami.

authorities say they've never been called to the closs home before this. meanwhile, the fbi has joined the search. the trump administration has a new idea as it looks to bring down drug prices. it wants pharmaceutical companies to list the prices of their products during their tv commercials. drugmakers say they already publish the prices online, but government officials say that's not good enough. the proposal is just an idea for now, but it is open for public comment, and those comments will be considered before a final rule is enforced. some good news for fans of old cartoons. scooby-doo and tom and jerry are expected to make a return. warner brothers apparently has new plans for its animation unit. tom and jerry will reportedly appear in a movie that combines live action with the cartoon characters, and our favorite great dane is also slated for an animated feature film. >> old school cartoons for us but brand-new for kids today. se urs l . >> yes.

minutes later the police arrived at his door. he says the police told him that mueller felt uncomfortable with him being there. we reached out to mueller for comment but did not hear back. linsey davis, abc news, new york. >> our thanks to linsey. a fish and game commissioner in idaho has now lost his job after photos of his african hunting trip went viral. the photo that got the most complaints show blake fischer boasting about killing a family of baboons. the governor's office says there was intense criticism and fischer was asked to resign. a new study is sounding the alarm about the decline in the number of insects and scientists say climate change may be to blame. the latest research comes from a tropical forest in puerto rico where scientists report the weight of insects trapped has dropped more than 90% since the 1970s. they say research in other parts of the world shows the insect crisis may be more widespread. one expert tells "the washington post" it's one of the most disturbing studies he's ever read.

from bugs to beer. scientists warn climate change could cause the price of beer to nearly double in the coming decades because of the impact on production of barley, a key ingredient in beer. experts predict extreme heat and drought could cause barley production to drop 17%. a new england patriots fan has seen his last game at the team's stadium. he's been banned after tossing a beer in the face of kansas city's tyreek hill sunday night. the fan will also face disorderly conduct charges. on monday night football, aaron rodgers threw for 425 yards and 2 touchdowns against san francisco, but it was a field goal as time expired that lifted the packers over the 49ers. the final score was 33-30. >> we've got some more sports news for you. wisconsin sports fan doubled their fun last night. ryan braun's rbi double was the only run the brewers needed in a 4-0 win over the dodgers. milwaukee now leads the series, 2-1.

and low 80s inland. we'll take a look at the accuweather 12-hour. veome road slowing you down in the richmond area, so let's head afc maps. westbound 80 various lanes scheduled to be closed until 5:00 this morning between san pablo dam road and carlson boulevard. that is adding about 10, 15 minutes to your drive. you can see a solid line of red there, so keeping a close eye on that one. that is certainly our biggest slow area at the moment. bay bridge toll plaza, no issues if you're using fastrak. we have a crash on highway 4. happening today, we expect to hear from the family of a man after sheriff's deputies tasered him. >> his family will hold a news conference after his funeral today. matt keller is live in millbrae. matt? >> reporter: good morning, jessica and reggie. a lot going on today. the funeral for the man who was tasered here on el camino real

and later died at the hospital is being held later today. after that a press conference is being held by a civil rights attorney hired pby the family. on october 3rd, 36-year-old jenato okobi died after deputies tased him. this video shows him wandering around el camino real in the middle of the day. a witness says that he was tased and got into a scuffle with deputies, appeared disoriented and lost consciousness. he later died at the hospital. his sister spoke to us about her younger brother. she says he has dealt with mental health issues since college. >> anyone who's had a loved one who's had mental illness, it's such a struggle getting a diagnosis and getting treatment. >> why did he need to be tased or overcome by five different deputies? >> what i can tell you, kate, is that it wasn't just standing in the street because that was my concern at the beginning. was this all over a jaywalking?

but it wasn't. >> reporter: the district attorney is investigating whether deputies used excessive force. a community vigil is also being held here in millbrae tonight starting at 6:30. reporting live here in millbrae, matt keller, abc 7 news. now to the north bay, all pg&e customers who had their power cut off because of extreme fire danger should have it restored today. >> the company is making no promises on specific times, but pg&e says it is making progress on power line inspections. new numbers that we just got overnight, more than 2,000 customers are still without power in napa county and more than 2,000 others are in the dark in lake county. pg&e cut power sunday night to prevent sparks and fires in areas under a high fire danger warning. while some residents in calistoga were okay with the decision, others said it did not
