but it wasn't. >> reporter: the district attorney is investigating whether deputies used excessive force. a community vigil is also being held here in millbrae tonight starting at 6:30. reporting live here in millbrae, matt keller, abc 7 news. now to the north bay, all pg&e customers who had their power cut off because of extreme fire danger should have it restored today. >> the company is making no promises on specific times, but pg&e says it is making progress on power line inspections. new numbers that we just got overnight, more than 2,000 customers are still without power in napa county and more than 2,000 others are in the dark in lake county. pg&e cut power sunday night to prevent sparks and fires in areas under a high fire danger warning. while some residents in calistoga were okay with the decision, others said it did not make any sense. >> take care of where the real problem is, which is up in the higher elevations and more rural

areas, and save calistoga and some other small communities the pain, shall we say, until it's absolutely, absolutely necessary. >> pg&e says winds gusted at 70 miles an hour in the hills above calistoga and the company only cuts power as a last resort. those winds were really, really challenging over the weekend from sunday night into monday morning, so it was really a challenge. but they have subsided quite a bit. >> thankfully they'll have their lights back on hopefully within the next few hours. let's go over to mike now, a look at your weather and traffic in just a second. >> we'll start with the winds. not all of them are blowing offshore like they were yesterday. we're either calm or up to 6 to 7 miles per hour so a slower offshore breeze means it's not going to be quite as warm as yesterday, especially along the look at this gorgeous view. definitely waking up cooler. dress warmer with mid-40s to low 50s at 7:00. we'll stay in the 60sit the lows

in the inland areas and 74 to 81. we do have a crash in the east bay to talk about. two vehicles involved in this one. westbound highway 4 right around port chicago highway before you get to state route 242. initially it was blocking two lanes. i believe we're down to just one lane now. we did have a decent little backup approaching the scene about 30 minutes ago. we are back in the green. i don't think that will turn into a big problem again but i'll keep an eye on that. in the north bay, nice and quiet. here's san rafael, southbound 101, slowly starting to see some vehicles out on the roadways here, but no significant delays if you're doing the north bay commute today. we'll take a look at drive times around 4:40. from the east bay, abc 7 news has obtained a video that shows a man jumping the barrier, running along the tiger enclosure at the oakland zoo. >> do not do this, obviously. you see the man hanging on to the wood railing there.

he turns around quickly when the tiger leaps toward a fence. this happened sundayr scolded td told him don't do that again. >> he jumped that fence, like the little railing. and the tiger just launched at him. he jumped back up. i heard he said he dropped his glasses or something. but when he came back up, i didn't see nothing in his hand. >> the witness says the tiger became agitated, started pacing back and forth. here's what the zoo says. the oakland zoo meets and exceeds safety requirements set by state, federal and aza accreditation standards. we hope that all of our visitors act responsibly and don't attempt to put themselves in potentially unsafe situations. >> and you'll remember a tiger attack at the san francisco zoo that left a teenager dead. the animal escaped its enclosure and killed carlos salsa jr. on christmas day 2007. officers killed the tiger. the zoo has since built a taller tiger grotto.

new details in the case against monsanto, the maker of weed killer roundup. jurors are now responding to the judge's temporary ruling which could throw out most of their judgment. one juror sent a letter to the judge saying the jury is convinced by the evidence that monsanto should have a health hazard warning label on its pesticide. the jury awarded dwayne johnson $289 million in august. he sued claiming roundup caused his terminal cancer. last week we told you the judge is considering ordering a new trial. a final decision will be made by monday. the supreme court has turned down an appeal by paint companies leaving them on the hook for millions of dollars to clean up old homes throughout the state. the companies will pay more than $400 million to ten california cities and counties to clean up lead paint from housing units that were built before 1951. that includes homes in san francisco, oakland, alameda and

san mateo. a santa clara lawyer who led the lawsuit says this is a major victory for the tens of thousands of children poisoned by lead paint. a federal judge has dismissed stormy daniels' defamation lawsuit against president trump. daniels alleges she had an affair with him in 2006. she sued mr. trump in april after he tweeted a sketch of a man daniels said threatened her to keep quiet was a con job. daniels' attorney, michael avenatti, vows to appeal that decision. this morning massachusetts senator elizabeth warren is firing back at president trump. she says his comment about him personally administering a dna test to prove her native american ancestry is creepy. here's abc news reporter stephanie ramos. >> reporter: this morning the cherokee nation slamming senator elizabeth warren. >> just wholly dna to determine -- or to establish

that they're native american in this country. >> reporter: the pushback comes after warren released results of a dna test which said that she had a native american ancestor in the range of six to ten generations ago. >> what do the facts show? >> that you have a native american ancestor in your pedestrian re. >> reporter: the cherokee nation says warren is undermining tribal interest with her continued claims of tribal heritage. >> pocahontas. pocahontas. i mean pocahontas, elizabeth warren. >> reporter: president trump frequently bashes senator warren for claiming to be part native american, even offering to give $1 million to warren's favorite charity if she took a dna test. for trump, the results were not enough. >> i'll only do it if i can test her personally. that will not be something i enjoy doing either. >> reporter: warren responded to that comment saying we all know why donald trump makes creepy physical threats about me,

right? he's scared. it may soothe his ego, but it won't work. stephanie ramos, abc news, new york. on the peninsula, san mateo police are searching for a burglar targeting cars. it was all caught on camera. this man was on west 20th avenue on sunday morning checking out cars. at least one car was burglarized. the burglar was caught on several home surveillance cameras. san mateo has a program that lets people register their surveillance systems for investigators to review if needed. there is an even better and simpler way to help protect your neighborhood. >> it's important for you to get to know your neighbors and you communicate with each other. it's the most effective way to prevent e.>> and here's a close some of the still pictures of the suspect in this case. anyone with information should call san mateo police. you're never more than seven minutes away from my accuweather

forecast.arstn san francisco, 60, followed by 58. we've got crissy field, excelsior at 57. 49 for the cool spot and 59 at ocean beach. let's take a look at the commute this morning coming across the western span of the bay bridge. you may need to turn the heater on, especially in the inland valleys where temperatures in the low 40s. total sunshine if you're on the water today. mass transit, definitely dress warmer this morning. dress in layers because it will get comfortable this afternoon. 67 at noon to about 72 to 73 degrees this afternoon so not quite that 81 we had yesterday. in the north bay starting off at 47, but look at that, by 10:00 we're at 64. 75 at noon and hanging out at 80 during the afternoon hours. 62 at 8:00 and our last stop is the south bay where we'll start by 51. by lunch 73 and hang out in the upper 70s under sunshine this afternoon. feels pretty comfortable out there. did you notice how cool and dry

it was this morning? >> my heater was on in my car this morning. it was chilly i have to say. you might have to flip that on or put on the extra layer. trafficwise we're doing okay. there are a couple of issues, one of those eastbound 580 before north flynn road. there's a solo vehicle crash possibly turning into a multi-vehicle collision. emergency crews just arriving on the scene. i think that red you're seeing a little closer to 205 is road work that we do have today for eastbound 580. of course the westbound side is heavy as well so about 25 miles an hour. 22 miles an hour once you make it to 580 there on the westbound side. quick check of some drive times. there are some delays on westbound 80 highway 4 to the maze. we'll take a closer look at that next. 8 minutes across the bay bridge and 101 southbound san francisco to sfo is looking good in the green. ready to go, this massive

here's a look around at some critical fire conditions along the western slope of the sierra there. you can see that's until about 11:00 this morning, almost 250,000 people there. look around l.a. all the way up to santa barbara and san diego, 6.5 million people under fire danger. here's a look ot out our temperatures. in tahoe we'll have lows that are freezing cold and highs that are in the 60s. happening today, a 2,000-foot pipe is set to embark on a massive cleanup effort in the pacific ocean. this is part of the world's first ocean cleanup system designed to eliminate the great pacific garbage patch. the u-shaped pipe has a foundation behind the effort hopes tinspiring. hope it works. hundreds of scooters back in

san francisco, but not without some changes. riders have to wear a helmet and scooters are not allowed on the sidewalk. the city gave the green light to two companies, scoot and skip. dion lim took one for a test drive. >> reporter: scooters from scoot and skip made their debut, launching 625 vehicles each as a part of a one-year pilot program. >> i live in oakland and use scooters all the time. they're very convenient. >> reporter: they first debuteddebuted earlier this year. complaints of blocking sidewalks, improper use and sometimes ending up in trees. the city reviewed applications from a dozen companies to assess their plans. scoot had a presence in san francisco with motorcycles and skip for more than a year. reasons both companies say gave them a leg up against the competition. >> it's more important to be welcome in the city than be

than it was yesterday. we'll have sunshine and lighter breezes today. we'll see stars and feel the chill again tonight. we're only getting 11 hours and 11 minutes of s'l more warm aft through the extended. 76 in millipede as, santa clara 78. san jose we have some 80s. on the peninsula today, 73 to 79 degrees so pretty comfortable. mid to upper 70s. look at this, not as warm at the coast, mid to upper 60s to 74 in san francisco. yesterday we were 81 so that's a little bit of a change. still warmer than average. we'll have upper 70s to low 80s through the north bay valleys. along the east bay shore we'll have mid to upper 70s with a 75 in oakland. as we move to our inland neighborhoods, right around 80 to 82 degrees. here's a look at the temperatures tonight. a lot of 40s out there once again, especially in our valleys, some 50s around the bay. 43 in santa rosa to 53 in san francisco. my accuweather seven-day forecast, what we're dealing with are temperatures that will

be a little bit above average. by the time we get to sunday and monday, that's when we'll start to see a little bit of a cooling trend but notice not a drop of rain anywhere. i'm looking at road work slowing you down in the east bay. i do believe it's improving a little bit so they may be picking up a few of these cones. between san pablo dam road and carlson boulevard we have various lanes scheduled to be closed about 15 more minutes. they should have this fully wrapped by 5:00 a.m. that is adding ten minutes to your drive so plan on those delays. you can divert and use surface streets but i think things will start to improve. a quick check of the bay bridge toll plaza. no more stackup in the cash lanes, fastrak looking good and no metering lights yet. that usually happens right around 5:20. the company behind severale $1 million to some customers. and scientists develop a camera that can take one trillion frames p up.

nearly 1.25. the rest of us falling behind every day. jessica. mike, thank you. happening today in the south bay, santa clara county supervisors are set to vote on a plan to open a shelter specifically for homeless lgbtq young people. abc 7 news was in san jose where supervisors spoke in support of the facility. it would be located on locust street near edwards avenue. the board is expected to give its final approval today. the final step would be for san jose city council to authorize a lease of a location. >> we're certainly asking the city to move quickly on this. the county is ready to go. i think this will serve a big need that we know exists on our streets of san jose. >> yeager, who you just heard from, said an assessment in 2013 found nearly one-third of the county's homeless youth are lgbtq. a smartphone app that could save lives is expanding. it notifies people who are

trained in cpr if there's emergency nearby. it's already used in santa clara county and the east bay and now coming to santa rosa. the santa rosa fire department is expected to announce more about itj.c. penney has today for the upcoming season. they plan to hire 39,000 seasonal employees across the country, including 600 here in san francisco. eight randomly drawn associates will receive a reward package and that includes $5,000 trips to canada, new york city and miami. the hiring event will take place in all j.c. penney stores from 2:00 until 8:00 tonight. best buy also looking to hire for the holidays. the electronic giant is holding a national holiday hiring store. interviews will take place the same day. jobs include sales, customer service, merchandising and inventory control. we're going to take a look and compare yesterday to today.

look at the relative humidity. remember this time yesterday we were down in the teens and 20s so it's not as dry as yesterday. our dew point temperatures are in the 30s instead of the single digits and the teens. so while it's dry, it's not quite as bad as it was yesterday at this time. i want to take a look atok w do several days. it doesn't move so 5 to 10 inches of rain, mudslies going to be an issue. checking out the roads this morning, we do have a couple of slow spots to talk about. we do have one new issue including a disabled truck in caldecott tunnel westbound 24 on the right bore. it sounds like the left lane of the right bore is blocked with that disabled truck. so not causing a backup yet but emergency crews are on the way to the scene. also some better news in the tracy area. eastbound 580 before north flynn road we had a solo vehicle crash in the two left lanes.

that has been pushed off to the grant line road off-ramp. still see delays past that. westbound 580 we have our usual crawl getting out of tracy as well. you've seen commercials for prescription drugs on tv and they rarely tell you how much the drugs cost. federal health officials say that's something patients deserve to know, so they're considering a proposal which requires drug makers to list prices on tv ads. it would apply to drugs covered by medicare and medicaid programs. the drug industry's main trade group says companies are willing to disclose companiprices on th websites but not in the commercials. the cost of your favorite beer is about to go up and you can blame that on climate change. extreme heat waves and drought will likely result in cuts in barley production, a key ingredient in beer. when that happens, beer prices could double and maybe even triple. previous studies have detailed how chocolate coffee and wine will be made more scarce and
