♪♪ now, from abc 7, live breaking news. good evening. >> our breaking news is in san francisco, a shooting at the aquatic park. kate has the latest. >> i'm on vanenss in north point, you can see tape here, a squad car and there's police officers over here, but, this is just the very top of the crime scene, a few minutes ago, my photographer and i were down vaness further, the crime scene, where it actually happened is probably the equivalent of three blocks away. take a look, here is a video that we shot, closer to whatever this police investigation is right now, we don't have a hot of details, because it just happened an hour, hour and a half ago. the lieutenant is on the phone

abc washington. >> in east bay, the city of dublin, the city is planning to build a new ikea, it will be located near interstate 580 and there's been push back to the project. the city's planning commission voted 3-1 last month, to not recommend building the new store. some people say they would welcome the ikea, opponents worry it would cause traffic congesti congestion. >> no winning tickets were sold for the record mega millions jackpot, one in san francisco came close. >> oh, very close. here are the winning numbers. 3, 45, 49, 61, 69, the megaball number was 9. >> tonight's jackpot was $667 million, the largest ever. state lottery officials said that a ticket hit 5 of the six numbers was sold. that ticket is worth more than $1,900,000. >> that is pretty good. and friday's drawing will roll

introducing the new craft pancake lineup from denny's. the rookie premiered tonight on abc 7, it's about a rookie st -- a rookie officer starting out at age 40. one bay area officer will be watching closely, he knows what it's like to be the oldest new guy on the force. we have the story. >> reporter: always considered other options -- the graveyard shift is getting under way, it's nearly quarter to nine, and the youngest officers are about to hit the road. most are in their 20s, and one of the new officers is a little

older. officer james kind is 41. he is just about to wrap up the first year, patrolling north bay highways. officer kind graduated from the chp academy last september. >> it was awkward, i was looking at guys next to he in born in '95. i graduated in that year. >> reporter: he was a leader, aside from ribbing, he was treated like any other cadet. >> there was a lot of old man jokes. i never felt accepted because of age. and because i was able to compete with them. shoot as good as them, drive as good as them. one thing that i was always lacking is running as fast as they did. >> reporter: this is a second career for him, he spent the first 20 years in the navy doing tours in afghanistan, and hunting for pirates in australia. he believes age and experience give him an edge over younger cadets. >> a lot of people may have never been in a fight or a shooting. i'm able to find a spot in my

take a look at what is showing up in the gulf of alaska. there's an area of low pressure that is going to send us our first significant swell northwest swell of the season. and that means you will need to watch out over the the next couple of days, building northwest swell, will mean risk of rip currents and sneaker waves. especially if you are spending time along the coast lines. temperatures right now, from the 40s to the 60s. highs today were in the low 60s and all the way to the mid 80s. so, inland areas we are still in the low to mid 80s. look where they are heading. walnut creek, temperatures in the 80s in the next few days. not a lot of change, it will be cooler and warming back up. notice the changes, sunday through tuesday. dropping down to the 70s, and--s and it's going to feel like late fall, if it doesn't yet. a beautiful picture of the moon. morning chill with foggy areas, minor ups and downs the rest of the work week and we are looking at a cooling trend during the sunday through tuesday time

period. first thing tomorrow morning, temperatures from the upper 30s to the low 50s. fog near the coast and bay, and certainly chilly enough that you will sleep well and you may not want to get out of bed, that is how i felt. frost advisory, bring in the pets and don't forget to protect any frost sensitive plants. between 5 and 8:00 a.m., thing to will pull back for the noon time hour. look for the fog in to the evening and clear skies inland. a mild day tomorrow afternoon and the numbers will come down to the low 80s. concord, 82, and san jose 75, and 81 in santa rosa. and san francisco 69, and 64 in half moon bay. you can download the app, and check out of the temperatures any time you want.
