the mega number. >> so close. 3-45, 49, millions number was 9. >> so dramatic. i love it. >> reporter: this wasn't the winner. on friday, it will be $868 million. that number is huge. come to a lucky retailer to buy your tickets. this is chevron in milpitas. they sold a $425 million jackpot winner in 2014. last year they woman one for $800,000. maybe they will get a winner here when the drawing is this friday. bay area residents aren't going home empty handed. a ticket that hit five of six numbers was sold at safeway in

smoke in hailation. it started in a kitchen and is believed to be an accident. consumer watch dog is keeping an eye on pg&e. the organization sent a letter to the public utilities commission yesterday demanding an investigation into the recent power outage in the north bay as well as any future preemptive outages. pg&e shut off power earlier this week because high winds created a fire hazard. consumer watch dog says that excuse was not specific enough and preemptive outages are a shoddy attempt to avoid liability. a search is on in the north bay for a truck that hit a bicyclist. chp says it happened monday morning on highway 1 in sonoma county. a dark colored pickup truck pulling a white tailer hit a bicyclist. the side mirror broke off. it was last seen heading southbound near leeward spur. no word on the cycliscyclist's

condition. abc 7 news committed to building a better bay area. several issues we're covering this morning are coming from the east bay. >> berkeley city council approved the installation of security cameras at a park following a daytime shooting. it came at last night's meeting. it means you will see cameras in south berkry, san pablo park. it comes after a daytime drive-by shooting that terrified people at the park. >> shots rang out, we hit the ground. we grabbed kids. we pulled them to the ground. i didn't find my 2 1/2-year-old. the longest 30 seconds of my life. >> the police chief will decide where cameras will be installed. they are expected to go up within the next few months. >> also improved, limiting the amount of homeless people can occupy on sidewalks. the decision came down just after 11:00 p.m. homeless people are limited to a

3 x 3 foot space, no more than 5'high. that is smaller than most tents. violators face a citation from police. >> a woman in oakland is working two jobs and still can't afford housing. she's been sleeping in her car for a year. leigh-ann melendez spent the day with her. you can hear her story and learn about efforts to fight homelessness on abc7news.com, in the section committed to building a better bay area. looking into whether a riot at the correctional training is connected to an inmate's death at salinas valley state prison. they are technically two different prisons but located at the same complex. 33-year-old armando wear was found dead with several wounds monday night. no suspect has been identified. the next morning a prison riot sent 10 inmates from a neighboring prison to the hospital. officials say the attack

appeared to be inmate on inmate. >> is in the east bay, police are investigating a string of recent robberies in berkeley. take a look at this map. it shows eight incidents in less than a week starting october 12th. a man was rob odd arch street. two of them had knives. and a woman robbed at knife point on oxford street. nobody was seriously hurt. berkeley police are asking anyone with information to give them a call. you are never more than 7 minutes away from my accuweather forecast. i want to show you cooler neighborhoods. east bay valleys, san ramon, 44 to 46 degrees. head out towards livermore, 47. same in brentwood. 50 in concord. 53 in pittsburgh. it is still lurking out there. just have to wait until the afternoon hours for the warmth to develop. bay shore and south bay, san jose is 50.

approved a series on of controversial taxi medallion changes last night. taxi drivers honked in protest against the plan. under the changes, the board voted to restrict lucrative airport rides to only drivers who had purchased their medallions. some be cabbies got them for free through a wait list. they voted to eliminate the medallion transfer free. in 2012, they sopld for $250,000, the same year uber and lyft starting pickups. now some say they are essentially worthless. >> i serve the public with all my heart. and i have been held up. i've been attacked. i have been persecuted by cab companies, customers, the airport, you name it. you can see it in my face. i paeuid my dues >> many who bought the medallions say they defaulted on loans. san jose state university hosting a townhall celebrating

the 50th anniversary of this moment when gold medalist tommy smyth and bronze medalist john carlos took a stand for human rights at the 1968 summer olympics. as the national anthem played during the medal sayre mope, they bowed their hands and raised their fists in protest of racial in equality. this morning they are among the panelists who will talk about their 50-year legacy, a defining moment of athlete activism. it starts at 8:30 at the event center. >> warriors won their season opener last night against the thunder 108-100. and it was all about the celebration. also the team celebrated the life of the late paul allen. they held a moment of silence before the game. as you know, he lost his battle with cancer on monday. the warriors also honored some of their own legends. the team debuted its newest dance team. there is one requirement. to be more than 55 years old.

we hit 71 yesterday. we'll be right around 80 to 82 in the north bay. maybe a degree or two cooler in santa rosa where the fog is thicker. mid to upper 70s the east bay shore. and inland, low to mid-80s. tonight's temperatures pretty much where we are this morning, mid-40s to mid-50s. you can see the gray covering the same neighborhoods as they are this morning. all right. a little bit of a warming trend for thursday and friday. hold through saturday. cooling back to average starts sunday. over to sue and see what's going on. >> checking out the san mateo bridge, the causeway, high-rise. . looking at an 18-minute ride from 880 to 101. it is increase anything volume as we come up on 5:22 this morning. we have some traffic over the altamonte. as you can see, otherwise we are pretty green. green is good. just over 45 minutes westbound 580 from tracy into dublin. your ride on highway 4 is great from antioch to concord.

times from hercules to the maze. about 19 minutes. 30 minutes into san francisco villa 80 corridor. sfo from the city, just about 10 minutes. thank you, sue. developing news now, an investigation this morning into an officer-involved shooting at aquatic park. >> a suspect went to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. amy hollyfield is live in san francisco. amy. >> reporter: hi. good morning, alexis. they just took down the crime tape here at the scene. a tow truck just took a toyota sedan out of here and also a u.s. park police car. they were out here for about eight hours. they got the call around 9:30 that shots had been fired here a u.s. park police officer had involved. he had shot someone.

they were taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. they detained another person. van ness avenue near municipal pier. the district attorney will handle this investigation. they have not said what led up to the shooting. they are still gathering information. it is early in their investigation. they are asking if anyone has information to come forward and give police a call. in august 2016, 20-year-old kelvin riley was killed in aquatic park. he was walking around at night playing pokemon go. that murder is still unsolved despite a reward of $100,000.

if you smelled smoke in the south bay, it was probably from this fire. it was in teresi. it was in the lynn haven area of san jose. there was an intense amount of smoke because of the amount of content in the duplex. the fire started outside but spread into the duplex and caused were significant damage. nobody was hurt. a fire at a kfc in antioch this morning. heavy smoke pouring out of the restaurant on mahogany way and auto center drive. it was a two-alarm fire. it was at risk of collapsing. no reports of anyone hurt. pg&e restored power to all 11,000 customers in lake, napa, and sonoma counties following an emergencyshutoff to prevent wildfires.

>> pg&e took the action saturday night because the weather conditions increased the fire risk. some questioned pg&e's motives. >> i think it is a passive aggressive move. >> on whose part? >> giving it back to us since they were blamed for fires starting before. >> we don't take it lightly. we know what this means for customers. we will only initiate public safety power shutoff to reduce risks. in the most extreme conditions. >> administrators met with pg&e representatives to express their displeasure. supervisor ron brown said that the way they rolled out the power cuts is not is acceptable. >> your voice, your vote. dianne feinstein will take part in a discussion at noon. the public policy institute of california is hosting this event which feinstein calls the debate, deleon says it's not a debate because the two candidates won't actually be addressing each other. the two democrats will be answering questions from a moderator, and that moderator may allow the candidates to

20-minute ride out of novato to the golden gate bridge. a few brake lights up there at the top of the hill. looking good across the golden gate. two lanes in the northbound direction. fog free so far. keeping an eye out for that. our taourbl slowdown out of the central valley. zoom in on this accident involving a big rig. chp is saying it's now blocking the on-ramp. hegenberger on-ramp to southbound 880. will we will check back with chp and get a better idea on that accident coming up. >> it's a rough year for facebook. now advertisers are taking legal action against the social media company.

look at this incredible video. a bridge in texas gets crumbled and swept away in floodwaters. 18 counties in central texas are under a state of disaster because of the flooding. unfortunately one person has died. another person is missing. as you can imagine, there are a number of evacuations. and even worse, the rain remained in the forecast the next four days. that almost looks like you're surfing on the ocean there.

you can see the moisture over texas coming from the gulf. it is coming from the pacific also. all the humid air over texas is causing flooding. back here at home, a little rain for us. nothing. lowe to mid-80s. arch sunshine. rough surf from the coast to eureka. 68, yosemite. closer to average. lows around 28 and highs around 63. sunshine through the weekend. >> all right. thanks, mike. a small group of advertisers are taking facebook to court. according to our media partner the bay area news group, the lawsuit says facebook inflated ad watch times to lure advertisers. it claims facebook knew the viewership estimates were wrong for over a year and this behavior constitutes as fraud. facebook has not commented on the suit. >> less than three weeks away
