people back in their homes by morning still. >> yeah. hopefully before noon. and the next few hours we will have more information. at one point, venting from the gas line was causing a shrieking noise in antioch. unclear if people are still able to hear that. con fire said if you hear that don't call 911. it's a normal part of the process. we will have much more coming up in a moment. let's check in with meteorologist mike nicco. >> hey, guys, good morning. the weather couldn't be much better if something does erupt. winds are light, blowing west 2 to 9 miles per hour. 52 in bay point right now. other than it raining, the weather couldn't be much better if it does break out. there will be fog in the north bay. watch out for that not only on the 101 but around napa, down towards american canyon, vallejo. 40s to 50s. hazy sunshine and a few clouds at the coast at noon. the rest of us are sunny.

just about all of us will see sunshine this afternoon. temperatures just a couple degrees warmer. low to mid-60s at the coast. mid-70s around bay and inland. over to sue. she's in to talk to us about the commute. how is it going? >> so far so good. bay bridge toll plaza, no metering lights. a slight backup for the left-hand cash-paying folks. otherwise, you can see everybody is moving through without delay. no problems on the upper deck. we had an earlier problem in san francisco. that's been cleared out of lanes getting that confirmed from chp. there is some residual slow traffic. an accident up the embankment. lanes are clear. expect delays. we will check back? a couple of minutes, guys >> thank you, sue. we will show you the evacuation centers right now in connection to that fear that there could be an explosion as a result of a fire in a gas line. >> one of the evacuation center is bay point bart station the other is calvary church on ev on ora. that's where amy hollyfield is

right now. good morning, amy. >> reporter: hi, alexis. 165 people are staying here. the pastor tells me there was a lot of anxiety overnight as people wondered what was going to happen to their homes. if their homes would be okay, if everyone here would be safe, when they could go home. a lot of emotion here this morning. it all started 8:30 last night. it was pretty frantic. church officials were just getting out of a board meeting when officers showed up and said can you open your church. they said we sure can. evacuations were ordered because of the risk of an explosion because of a grass fire and utility pole that fell. no one has been hurt. there has not been an explosion. officials have isolated the line. there is still a risk. that's why they wanted to get the evacuation orders in place. they are still in place this morning. they have even canceled school at willow cove elementary in pittsburg just in case.

here at calvary they are considering. the pastor said when people first started arriving last night there was a lot of emotion. >> when they first showed up, people were in tears. you know, upset because they didn't know what was going on. some of them had door-to-door by the p.d. and tried to clear them out. others got notification through news, radio and through the activation through the cell phones and whatnot. >> reporter: he said fire officials did stop by at the church and briefed evacuees. everyone felt a little better after that. so the tension here has been released a bit. and they are now turning toward hope that they will get to go home later this morning. they will get a warm breakfast. the church is picking up meals at denny's at 6:00 this morning, more than 100 of them. they are focused on that. here in concord, we don't hear

serious safety violation in the last decade. according to the examiner, shim answered no. but the paper reports he was cited for three other serious safety violations in 2011. shimmic didn't have to disclose those violations because the company is still in the process of appealing them. police in the east bay hope someone can identify this man. this video shows him robbing a wells fargo in concord back in august. he apparently told the teller, no dye pack, no funny stuff. he was given $8,000 before he walked out the door. police looking for the driver of this car. it was involved in a hit is and run september 28th near 35th and east 17th street. police say the driver hit and severely injured a pepper rson motorcycle. it was a 2007 to 2009 gold toyota camry. a san jose man faces several charges after he attacked a

sexually assaulted a 17-year-old girl. >> it happened sunday night 6:30 behind a church on south king road. officers say this man, 20-year-old esteban mosqueda lured the girl to a secluded area and attacked her. he has been book indeed santa clara county jail stkphraofp. the press democrat reports a high-definition camera stalled two weeks ago gave firefighters an immediate view of rising smoke at geyser peak in healdsburg. they approved half a million dollars for the camera cans in august. >> all right. you're never more than 7 minutes away from my accuweather forecast. look at the fog, napa valley, northern sa mona, 101, santa rosa, up to windsor. temperatures are pretty mild, though. 43, mill valley.

the woman we met said it was time to call it and get her two kids shelter and out of that parked car. stkphreu >> it was getting too cold. the kids have to lay down. they have to go to school. it is just a mess. >> how are you holding up? >> we're good. it could be worse. there are people in other or places. thank god for this church. >> reporter: a fire official did visit overnight to brief evacuees. the pastor said that helped to ease their concerns. he said some arrived in tears because of the uncertainty and the fear of what could happen. the d cross is here. they brought in cots so people could try and get some sleep is. the coffee is flowing. anmal control dropped off crates and leashes for pet for a safe place to be. everyone doing what they can to keep the people comfortable. they hope to get back to their homes sometime later this morning. amy hollyfield, abc 7 news.

>> we are certainly feeling for them. and the other evacuation center is the bay point bart station. >> that is where matt keller is talking to folks. good morning, matt. >> reporter: good morning, reggie and alexis. i justified talked with the red cross. they said at midnight police estimate 200 evacuees here at the bart parking lot. but that has changed. some of the people have found motels, friends, and have taken off. they estimate now 150 people are here at the bart parking lot. they are helping with blankets, food, drinks. they just helped somebody with a portable battery charger. they are doing all they can to make these people comfortable as they are out of their homes. one is george perez. george, can you explain what exactly happened last night when you were evacuated? >> i was evacuated around 12:15 in the morning. and i just grabbed what i can and came up to the bart station. >> and how are you doing now?

>> i'm cold, hungry, and i want to get back to my bed. >> and it looks like you have family or friends with you? >> no, i'm here by myself. >> okay. so do you have a car or where are you staying right now? >> i live on north broadway. i don't have a car. i walk and take public transportation. >> got you. has red cross been able to help you out here? >> yes, they have. >> in the middle of the night, for people to come out and tell you to get out of your home. there is a fire and the possibility of a gas pipeline explosion. that must be quite frightening. >> it is. i was confused when i woke up. i heard the sheriff banging on my window. i heard a lot of yelling. the sheriff's office told me to evacuate immediately. i grabbed my phone, wallet and keys and evacuated immediately. >> that's it. that's all you have. >> yeah. >> and the red cross helping you out with any blankets or anything like that? >> yeah. they are all helping with blankets, food, drinks, stuff like that. >> but you want to get home?

it has a service animal relief area with fake grass, fire hydrant and cleaning supplies. until now people with service animals had to go outside if their animals needed a break. it was provided by dogs for diabetics. this came in at $650,000. the federal trade commission is warning about the huge impact of gift card scams. these are up a staggering 270% since 2015. the ftc said they are the number one way scammers demand payment for their victims. they claim you haven't paid taxes or utility bills or a family member is in trouble and needs money. if someone calls you asking you to buy a gift card and give them the code on the back, do not do it.
