mostly sunny conditions by this afternoon. highs in the inland areas will hit the upper 70s around the bay. low 60s at the coast. good morning. a closure in the east bay. we'll update that in a second. you have four lanes in the southbound direction on the golden gate to get the lane configurations overnight. they are taking down a current overpass construction as the full freeway closures southbound 880 at 23rd in oak land, there is a detour in place. there is a lot of traffic trying to get to southbound. they hope to pick that up. you are being diverted off and right back onto the freeway at 23rd. speck delays. we will follow that until they pick it up. okay. thanks, sue. in the south bay, people are back in their homes following an explosion that happened on rootflower court yesterday afternoon.

jobina has more about the two men hurt when illegal fireworks went off. >> reporter: incident was a long sunday for people in this quiet san jose community. neighbors forced to evacuate their homes for hours because police say illegal fireworks caused an explosion inside a garage at this home. >> pow. >> he really? >> he yeah. it sounded way longer. >> he said he heard when playing outside near moonflower court. >> heard a big boom. went out and didn't see anything. the next thing i know i saw our neighbor. she was coming out of the house because they had seen the smoke. >> reporter: what neighbors didn't realize is she was already dialing 911. her boyfriend and his friend were inside the garage handling fireworks. >> looking into the little fireworks and what they do. it's not smart. >> reporter: the two victims were rushed to the hospital with

burns and cuts. >> it could be a lot worse. >> reporter: the explosion forced neighbors, including a 95-year-old man, to evacuate for four and a half hours. >> i think it's a bit much because all he had was firecrackers. i know he's not trying to make any bombs or anything like that. >> reporter: police did find additional legal fireworks in the garage. rather than transporting them, san jose police bomb unit set them off in the back of the home which led to the all-clear. people returning to their homes and pets left behind. >> san jose police say it's unclear if the two men will be facing charges. they say that will be up to the bomb squad. jobina fortson, abc 7 news. in the east bay, police are searching for the driver who hit and killed a man 4:30 saturday morning in pittsburg. police say the driver was going eastbound on buchanan road near meadows avenue.

police have identified the victim as michael watkins from antioch. they say the suspect's car is fouen theou bay ford f-150 with and think your identity may have stolen, police want to hear from you. here's why. these two were spotted in a car earlier this month in the city. officers spotted drug paraphernalia in the car. when police searched the car they found stolen mail. they are trying to connect victims to the crime. jamal khashoggi was killed when he was placed in a chokehold position to stop him from leaving and calling for help. saudi officials admitted friday khashoggi was killed inside the fistfight. two u.s. senators are urging the

oakland, 64. san jose, 70. still lots of warmth in the inland areas. mid to upper 70s today. so temperatures have certainly come down. a look at overnight lows. tonight the clouds will push back in. temperatures will start to cool down once again, especially in the north bay in the low 40s for some areas. lake port down to 39 degrees. and we'll find that that trend continues because we have a trough moving in bringing us a stronger onshore flow. that means cooler temperatures into tomorrow with the high pressure builds. and warming up towards the end of the workweek. >> we have a full freeway closure in oakland and also an accident now in erso we'll tak a q look at the 92. san mateo across the span is moving nicely. causeway towards the high rise, about a 14-minute drive from 880 towards 101. speaking of 880, check out this

a new crime trend is targeting women at restaurants across california. a thief uses a coat or j from the fact she is stealing items from her purse. the kul preuculprit liens againt person's chair and uses the fabric as a shield as he steals a wallet, cash or cards. one victim said it happens so fast. it's completely unexpected. >> i don't understand how people can do that. it's violating to know i was sitting there, and literally behind me, behind me back, someone stole from me. that's what's upsetting. >> she will now keep her purse in her lap at all times. an american sailor got excited after winning invictus race and broke protocol, but incident was all in good fun.
