trump administration considering narrowing the definition of gender. the definition would essentially throw out advances the transgender community has made during the obama administration. lilian kim has reaction to the memo the trump administration has sent out. >> it is just a proposal at this point, but the trump administration's is clear. the department of health and human servicesis spearheading an effort to define male orphe female based on the genitals they were born with. >> jack is 13 and began identifying as a boy two years ago. >> the numbers are terrifying on suicide rates and trance gender kids. it's really horrible. and this isn't going to help. >> all of this appears to be the

>> several powerful earthquakes have been reported near vancouver island, kapcanada. a 6.6 earthquake hit. according to is you gs there were smaller quakes. so far no reports of any injuries. we have shown you plenty of dash and grab thefts at cell phone stores. they have caught up with two of the thieves after a long chase. >> american canyon police tweeted this yesterday. it shows items stolen from a gun. officers say they confiscated this evidence from two men involved in a theft saturday. they took them on a chase in napa county. they changed cars in concord, 25 miles from the original scene. they tried changing cars again in pittsburg, and that's where officers arrested them.

expired. that is scary. in today's gma first look, a floor collapsed at a party near clemson this weekend. >> here's lindsay davis with the details. >> reporter: in this morning's gma first look, new images of the terrifying moment that a college party turns into chaos. students at the off-campus party celebrating the win against north carolina state in a freefall, plummeting to the basement after the dance floor collapses. some scream as others struggle to climb back up onto the dance floor. clemson first responders rushed to the private reception hall around 12:30 sunday morning. about 30 people we then treated at area hospitals with various injuries, including broken bones and cuts.

south of san diego. the crew of the nearby vessel contacted the coast guard after spotting the boat. they pulled 15 people from the water. two were badly burned and needed medical care. the remaining 13 people transferred to a mexican naval vessel. the search for the three missing is ongoing. a taco maker is recalling $2.5 million of froze especially taquitos because of a salmonella and listeria scare. they were produced from july 1st through october 10th. they include 4.5 pound of beef taco and cheese taquitos. the usda said the could be tainted. you can find a complete list on abc7news.com. in the south bay, a man accused of stealing a car with a little girl in the back seat is scheduled to be in court on

wednesday. the 5-year-old is safe and back with her family. >> i didn't like it. i was so scared. >> poor girl. she was sleeping in the back seat of her dad's suv when he parked at a quick stop in san jose saturday. he says he left the running while they went inside to get a drink. he would a man jumped in and stole the car. about six blocks away, the thief kicked sadie ray out. a neighbor saw her crying and called police. officers then reunited her with her parents. >> maybe 20 minutes maybe. i don't know because i was so panicked. i didn't really know how long it was. it just felt like forever. >> police arrested 30-year-old mark muerta of san jose. he faces kidnapping, auto theft and obstruction charges. >> cal fire is set to conduct a controlled burn in the reserve tomorrow between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. it is to reintroduce fire as a

he was walking on the opposite direction on the shoulder of the road. police have identified him as michael watkins of antioch. the suspect's car is red, possibly a ford f-150 truck, with a sunroof in the south bay, people are back in their homes this morning after being evacuated following an explosion. it happened yesterday afternoon on moonflower court. neighbors say they heard a big boom and saw smoke. taylor poppins said her boyfriend and his friend 25-year-old john meltzer were handling fireworks in the garage when they went off. they were rushed to the hospital with burns and cuts. >> looking into the little fireworks and what they do. it's not smart. they are made for a reason. don't tamper them. >> police found more illegal fireworks at the home. the bomb squad set them off before lifting the neighborhood evacuation order. san jose police have not said if the men will face charges. and at the live desk, we are

tracking a caravan of thousands of central american my grants on their way to the u.s. right now they are making their way through mexico despite efforts to try and stop them. the caravan is nearly two miles long. most of the people are from mexico and honduras. they say they are fleeing violence in their home country. president was campaigning in nevada and said that he will seal off the border before they can come into the country. he also promised to bring out the military. >> a saudi official tells abc news that jamal khashoggi was killed when he was e placed in a chokehold position to stop him from leaving and calling for help. saudi officials admitted friday khashoggi was killed inside the consulate in istanbul. they say he died during a fistfight. two u.s. senators are urging the trump administration to be tough on saudi arabia. the president said he may consider sanctions but he needs to be careful in dealing with a key u.s. ally. >> he said he doesn't want to

forecast for the week. we are near average today. frosty, then mild for tomorrow. and then little change. but then we get a warmer paper for the end of the workweek with lots of sunshine friday and saturday. and well above average. >> frances, thank you. this new video is frightening. it shows the moment a passenger train derailed in taiwan. at least 18 people died, more than 180 others injured. eight train cars flew off the tracks, including five that flipped upside-down yesterday. most of the people who died were in that first car. survivors tell local news agencies the train operator did apply emergency brakes multiple times before the train derailed. investigators are still looking into the cause. check out this tornado that touched down in arizona. this happened east of flagstaff yesterday. the national weather service says it didn't last long but sit was active enough long enough for someone to take this video. no reports of damage. the danger of an earthquake
