demonstrators out in force to urge people to repeal a gas tax increase. thanks for joining us. with 15 days until election day the fight is heating up. republicans hope the gas tax repeal initiative will help them across the board. we were at the yes on 6 rally.

matt is joining us live in santa clara. >> reporter: yes. everyone saw the gas tax go up 12 cents on november 1st of last year. now everyone gets to decide whether or not it sticks around. [ crowd chanting ] >> reporter: the bus tour rolled through the area today. >> millions of hard working forgotten californians have to choose between buying groceries and filling up their tank. that should not be the case. >> reporter: republican john cox shows up to lend his support for prop 6. it would repeal the fuel and vehicle taxes passed in 2017 eliminating about 5 billion year marked for transit programs. it would require voert approval for increased gas and vehicle taxes in the future. cox says california pays too

high a price. >> they continue to move farther and farther away from the cities they love and the legislature passes a gas tax without performing caltrans. >> reporter: they say repealing the tax will put a stop to the work. >> people are already paying money because they have to repair their cars. people want to get home to their families a little earlier and get out of traffic. >> reporter: the yes on 6 bus rolls on. the next stop is sacramento. abc 7 news. >> all right. thank you. before john cox went to the gas tax repeal rally he stopped by for an interview. he says he is focused on education and the housing crisis.

cox compared the cost for him to build apartments in the bay area versus in indiana. >> indianapolis is a very modern wonderful city that has wonderful standards. i can build wonderful apartments for 90,000 that cost 600,000 in san francisco. a large part of the difference is land. most of that difference is government cost and i have plans to cut that cost. >> we have also extended an invitation for democratic candidate to join us here in the studio. so far no commitment from his campaign. midterm elections about two weeks away. if the you haven't registered to vote today is the deadline. you only have about 12 hours now to get it done. the deadline to register it is 11:59 tonight. the easiest way to do it is online. there is the conditional voter registration process. you can do it all the way up to election day. we have a link to that and complete voter guide on our web

threatens snap chat message that included the initials bms. there is a britain middle school in the district but they say it may be tied to a threat already under investigation in arizona. they say the threat here is not credible. a judge is expected to decide whether to overturn part of a landmark in august a jury awarded $289 million to johnson. the grounds keeper says he developed lymphoma after spraying round up in bulk 30 times a year. earlier this month the judge said she would likely overturn 250 punitive damages. president trump said he is cutting off or substantially

local to dispose of. abc news, istanbul. >> we are going to shift gears here. the west coast and mexico really worried with hurricane heading there is a category 5 right now. we are tracking hurricane willa. >> yeah. it is a category level 5. it has winds of 160 miles per hour. it is off the coast tracking north at about 7 miles. so it's expected to make land fall as a major category level 4 storm and then it will quickly leak into a level 2 heading towards texas by wednesday here. here is is what we can expect. hurricane force winds extend well inland because it is to large and strong. 6 to 12 inches of rain. it means life threatening flash flooding. dangerous storm surge, destructive waves. i want to give everyone's heads

livermore at 57 degrees. here is a live shot looking at those gray conditions right now. here is what you can expect. we have the fog and low clouds clearing slowly today. we have an on shore flow. it will give us cooler temperatures today. cooling trend continues through tomorrow and high pressure rebuilds and a warming trend wednesday through friday where we could be above average by 10 degrees for the end of the workweek. at noon you'll see the clouds still expected to stick around especially along the peninsula. it takes a little bit of a break and starts to move back at 6:00 this evening. will wake up to extensive cloud cover and fog in the north bay. highs today a little bit cooler compared to yesterday. breezy, partly cloudy and only near 60 degrees along the coast like half-moon bay. it is 61. san francisco 62. we'll find low 70s in the north bay.

oakland 64. san jose sunny, 70 degrees and inland locations will make it into the upper 70s. overnight lows will be cool once again. look for temperatures to drop in the 40s in the north bay. around the bay expect low 50s tomorrow morning. here is a look at the week ahead. temperatures will continue to drop tomorrow and high pressure builds. we will be well above average friday and saturday. that's for inland locations. beaches will be climbing up as well. here is a look at the seven day forecast. a cooler afternoon today. highs ranging from 60 to upper 70s. we cooled down a little bit more tomorrow. check out the sunshine and the warmth building towards the end of the workweek. it will be really we'll probably hit the low 70s. >> great weather for that. >> yes. >> thanks. still ahead, two new
