6:03 pm
our sky 7 the last shot. and taking a look on the ground. the fire crews the hoses there and where it's blocked off. look down the street. all the flashes lights as people are trying to stay out of the area. firefighters trying to keep everyone clear. to make sure it's a safe situation. we have crews on the ground. she was just speaking with the fire department. they were giving a news conference. they would be on scene for several more hours as they monitor the situation. >> now from sky 7. not live pictures this is on tape. from awhile ago. the worst of it when the flames and smoke were pouring out. you see exactly why the response was so great. because the flames were really fairly ferocious for a time. this looks to be the 16th floor. this would be the top floor
6:04 pm
where they saw fire damage. firefighters went above this fire. and below it. to make sure that it didn't spread any further. and they will be on scene for hours tonight. the other thing to know. this are people, a number of people who have been told in the building to shelter in place. stay where they are. the flames are no longer spreading. they are out. there's no more danger. in terms of imminent danger. stay where you are until given the all clear. >> they did two searches on each floor. just to make sure everyone was out. and everyone was clear. but again they were able to put this fire out. they train daily. because the high-rise fires can be so dangerous. there were multiple rescues. you mention one person was in a wheelchair. they did make sure to get unfortunately no injuries.
6:05 pm
>> one thing that might have helped in terms of people getting out quickly. or no one being injured. this happened a little bit before right about the time people were returning home from work. had it been 8:00 the being would have packed with people. home from shifts or jobs. this was right about the beginning of the dinner hour. presumably people were not >> for firefighters to get up the stairs and get hoses on this. >> no injuries. and asked about pets and i think they weren't sure. they were going to go back through and make sure. in fact she's live for us. >> this is still a really active scene. we'll show you what's happening.

building. >> go >> i want to paint a picture for you. of what it was like rolling up to the scene. there were dozens of people who live in the building. but we also encountered many people who happen to work in the area. and they were not allowed to pass through the area of davis ask washington. crews on the scene tell me this was a fierce fire. almost akin to a curtain of flames and say they attribute the extensive training in high-rise buildings such as this one to why they were able to put the flames out so quickly. the flames started on the 12th floor. and ran to the 16th. and as of right now there's no cause. but the fact there are no injuries is short, close to a
