who said he was in another area away from the fire and says he did not see a thing. one firefighter was injured. he was taken to the hospital with an injury to his leg. no other injuries were reported. abc 7 news. >> thank you. oakland mayor had strong words this morning. she says arsonists have been trying to burn down housing developments in the city. >> an attack on new housing in oakland is an attack on keeping families housed in oakland. we are in a housing crisis. we need to build housing as quickly and effectively as possible but the bigger offense is the absolute risk of loss of life. >> the mayor also praised firefighters rapid response. she is urging anyone to call 911 if they see suspicious activity. we want to give you an idea of what it looked like before

this morning's fire. this was from google earth. it was captured in april of this year. it was six months ago. a lot more construction since then. even then you can see the three story building under construction with the wood framing. you heard amy talk about how that wood just served as kindling and helped fuel this morning's fire. residential construction fires have become a trend unfortunately. it is footage from a previous one. it is one of five firefighters. if you had the two construction sites it makes it 8 or 7 i should say. a few months ago a coalition of builders put up $300,000 to help catch anyone responsible for burning down projects. no word yet on the cause of the fires overnight. let's take one more look from sky 7 as firefighters continue to put water on the remnants and try to get the hot spots. this is showing you at west

attorney's office will not charge a police officer in oakland. the officer shot and killed a 28-year-old last january while responding to gunfire near the station. body cam video released by bart showing him responding to the shots and coming on two men struggling. he screams for them to show their hands and fires three shots. his family demanded the officer be fired and prosecuted. in a letter today retired supreme court justice revealed she has been diagnosed with beginning stages of dementia and probably alzheimer's disease. she wrote while the final ch chapter of my life might be trying nothing will add up to the countless blessings of my life. she was the first female supreme court justice. she left in 2006 to care for her husband who was battling
