builbuild ing safe. >> reporter: the criminal trial for both men is scheduled for next april. laura anthony, "abc7 news." the balboa park b.a.r.t. station in san francico is back open this afternoon. it was closed for two hours after a man was hit by a train. the fire department responded just after 9:15 this morning. the man was trapped between the train and the platform. using a new ex-try case tool, firefighters rescued the man in about 30 minutes. >> we train with b.a.r.t. on these incidents and that worked today to make this fluid and fast and get thing individual out of his predicament and to a trauma center. >> the man was taken to zuckerberg san francisco general hospital. police are vegi iare investigat was on the tr teenager was injur a collision with a boat. the boater was arrested. the boater was under the

influence while driving the boat. he did stay at the the hospital. yosemite officials identified the couple who died in the park.park.park. the two were natives of india, but were living and working in the u.s. the college they attended posted this photo of the couple. according to a linked in page, he was working for cisco here in the bay area. yosemite officials are still investigating, and they say haven't been able to find anyone who may have seen the couple fall. the couple had a travel blog and a popular instagram account. earlier this year, this photo was posted about the grand canyon. she wrote about the dangers of standing too close to take a selfie. the fire season is certainly not over. a red flag warning will go into effect tonight for the east bay and the north bay hills.

fights like this, broken glass can really make your stomach drop. car break-ins have been a problem in san francisco. but police say it's getting better. break-ins are 14% down from last year. and this year, the department has logged more than 17,000. last year, there was a break-in every 17 minutes. >> people turned to leaving notes on their cars, pleading with people not to break into their cars. but not everybody seems to be getting that message. melanie woodrow helped a family from australia who lost not only theiruggehe paportple last wednesday right after police announced a drop in car

break-ins. they were so distraught, they didn't want to speak on camera. ief we had just break-ins, and response quickly changed. an australian car on holidays who parked their rental car here for less than an hour, say that thieves broke the glass and took everything inside. >> little tablets and medication, passports. >> reporter: the break-in happened last wednesday. "abc7 news" was with san francisco police at a meeting that same day for positive news. car break-ins are down 14% year-to-date. after the meeting, the deputy chief told "abc7 news" if your car is broken into in san francisco, police will come to your location to take a report. >> if people call, officers will respond out and take reports. if they don't, sh they should b

calling multiple times. >> reporter: we met this couple right after that interview last wednesday. their car had been broken into and they called the police nonenergy line. >> they said you need to go to a police station. >> reporter: they also called central station the following day. >> they said that they didn't have the manpower at this time to investigate. >> reporter: so i e-mailed the deputy chief and he thanked me for bringing it to his attention and the situation quickly changed. >> within three hours -- >> we had our stuff back, or some of it back. >> reporter: officers drove their now recovered passports, luggage and clothing to their hotel, all the way in monterey. >> i don't think that it would have happened without your assistance. >> reporter: a positive ending, but one that should. take a call or e-mail from a reporter. >> i feel for people that have to deal with this every day. >> reporter: the deputy writing,
