my vantage point is it's hard to tell if they have gotten there yet. i know they are very close. they wanted to give the is street sweeper time to get the debris off the highway. then they would reopen it. this did happen at 10:40 last night. they've been out here more than six hours. two people did die in this accident, a man and woman. they were both drivers of the cars. this happened just north of the hayward city limit sign just before whipple. >> we urge people to look for alternate routes to try to get to work, try to get wherever they're going. >> at this point officers don't know why this happened. they don't think alcohol or drugs were involved.

it appears to have started with the tour bus. they say it was in the middle lane, came up on stop-and-go traffic. pushed that to the side. hit another car, pushing it into a big rig. they're not sure how fast the bus was going. again, they were aiming to reopen by 6:00. it looks like they will hit their deadline or very close to you. so you can count on this area for your commute. they encourage you to work around if you can. that will take a while to get going. amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. thank you so much, amy. it's about 20 minutes, the delay right now, if you stick to 8810. here's a look at the long delay from sky 7. all the headlights. everyone forced over on alvarado-niles at chil el road.

we are seeing onlooker delay as well. i know amy said it was tough to see where she was. they are very close to getting this back open. i've watched crews sweeping up the roadway. was there was glass and debris in the road. and the vehicles involved in this, it looks like all have been towed away. they are working on picking up the cones. they should get this back open. they can still see flashing lights. i will give you an update. take a look alternates as well. right now let's check in with meteorologist mike nicco. >> the last minute the national weather service extended the red flag warning until 11:00. it was for solano and lake county. the rest of us supposed to drop at 6:00. they have gone ahead and extended it. let's take a look at the winds out there. gusting 15 to 25 miles per hour. nowhere near the 55 that was possibly projected.

dmv has given waymo green light. they have just grabbed the first driverless test permanent in the state of california. they can go ahead with test fully driverless cars on five silicon valley cities. sven says this could create a world of possibilities for people who can't operate a vehicle themselves. >> the exciting thing is we don't really know what it might generate. think about the internet. who would have thought about the internet.

thank you, matt. a woman is facing murder killed a father and his daughter in walnut creek last thursday on south broadway off highway 680. this woman, jessica martin, plowed into three other cars. she is being charged with two counts of murder and drunk driving. a go fund me page for hector garza was in one of the cars and died. his 8-year-old daughter also died. they have raised near $70,000. we have a link at abc7news.com. in the east bay, a father faces charges after his 3-year-old son was shot. the boy is in critical condition following the shooting monday night. oakland mayor says the shooting happened inside the family's home where there was an unsecured firearm. >> heads-up if you use bart s. starting tomorrow, the 8th and market street will be

south l.a. is very medically underserved. when the old hospital closed people in the community lived with untreated health problems for years. so, with the county's help we built a new hospital from the ground up and having citi as an early investor worked as a signal to others to invest. with citi's help we built a wonderful maternity ward and we were able to purchase an mri machine. we've made it possible for the people who live here to lead healthier lives and that's invaluable. ♪

scene. >> reporter: i have to tell you, alexis, officials had the backup in their mind during a long shutdown like this. they had to take their time to gather evidence. investigators say four vehicles were involved. a tour bus they say started it all. when it came up on stop-and-go traffic 10:40 last night and didn't stop. the bus hit a car, hit another car, which slammed into a big rig. two people were killed. this was northbound interstate 880. this is right past the hayward city line right before the whipple exit. >> four people total involved. one driver in each of the vehicles. so the first vehicle that tour bus hit, that driver was the

first fatality. the second vehicle the driver was the second fatality. >> investigators aren't sure why this happened. they say, show, they don't think drugs or alcohol was involved. an investigation team re-enacted the accident. it lasted more than seven hours. it created quite a backup from sky 7. it could be slow through here for a while. you might want to avoid it or give yourself extra time. amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. developing news now, funerals continue today in pittsburg rb pittsbu pittsburgh, pennsylvania. >> president trump made a controversial visit to the city. >> it's not about you!

federal judge's decision dismissing their lawsuit. they claim the school knowingly fostered a hostile environment for jewish students, but the school defense it. the judge said the students failed to present adequate facts to support their allegation. the man accused of suspicious packages also looked up someplace right here. fbi investigators found that cesar sayoc performed an internet search using the term uc berkeley library. they said there is no reason to believe any explosives had been sent to the school. police say they have had explosive detective dogs checking mail as a precaution since last week. they are also making extra check at the library. in the north bay, a second grade teacher who was hit by a car and killed while riding her bicycle

is being remembered this morning. >> the crash happened monday afternoon on sir frances drake boulevard near railroad avenue in wood acre. the 63-year-old deborah debeneditto was a long time teacher in san rafael. she was hit by a 2006 explorer. chp says the driver, paula drake of fairfax, was apparently under the influence. counselors from the school district were at the school yesterday to help kids process the news. >> tremendous sadness. tremendous loss. she has been a big part of the community the last 20 years. everybody was shocked and stunned. obviously nobody expected it to happen. >> drake will be charged with with a felony dui and gross negligence, manslaughter. in the south bay, 5,000 people have signed a petition to stop mall development in stop mall development in cupertino. fi, and retail

spaces and threatening to use senate bill 35, eliminating the need for local approval for certain develops including housing. >> a multimillion dollar upgrade is coming soon to san jose parking garages. yesterday the city counsel approved a project to make parking easier. it's a $6.3 million upgrade that will allow drivers to make online reservations, scan validated parking tickets and use apple pay to pay for parking. but the new technology involves automated license phraeupt readers which is raising some privacy concerns. cameras similar to the ones at san jose airport will photograph license plates and note the time and location of the vehicles that enter the lot.
