the chp is investigating the cause of a horrific crash involving a limo bus, two cars and a semi truck on interstate 880 last night. this morning lanes are finally reopened, but two people are dead, and yet another accident just happened on that same stretch of the freeway. thanks for joining us. i'm kristen zse. right now lanes are again closed on the union city/heyward border after an accident involving a motorcycle. but first we want to begin with the overnight cleanup and investigation of that deadly chain reaction crash last night. it happened on northbound 880

right before the whipple road exit. amy hollyfield is live in heyward with new information. amy? >> reporter: hi, kristen. we've been watching all morning. it's a bus busy thoroughfare. last night -- it's a very busy thoroughfare. last night traffic was slow and now look at it behind me at 11:00 this morning, it's still because of an accident that happened 45 minutes ago. the key is to adjust and last night the chp said the bus did not. it was going faster than the flow of traffic. the deadly accident happened at 10:40 and led to the shutdown of northbound 880 in heyward for almost eight hours. investigators say one bus started it all. >> we believe that there was a tour bus in the middle lane, and it came up to stop-and-go traffic. it collided with the vehicle that was in front of it. >> reporter: the driver of that

car was killed, but the bus didn't stop. >> the tour bus continued on, hit another vehicle and pushed that vehicle into the back of a semi truck. >> reporter: the driver of that second car was also killed. chp officers say they then had a long night ahead of them of investigating and clearing the road. >> we have our accident investigation team. they are recreating the scene, so that usually takes a while for them to make sure that they collect all the evidence. they take photos. >> reporter: this happened right before the whipple exit. all lanes were shut down, and look at the backup that created as the morning commute got under way. all northbound vehicles were forced to exit at avalrado niles road. they reopened the freeway just before 6:30 this morning saying they worked quickly knowing that commuters needed to use the lanes. >> there's a lot of pressure. we understand that any closure of one lane, two lanes impacts traffic heavily, especially when we have all the lanes closed.

we urge people to look for alternate routes. >> here comes a fire truck to respond to that accident. well, the coroner has not released the names of the victims. pardon me. that's very loud. the coroner has not released the names of the two people who were killed. we just know it was a man and a woman. the chp has not said why they think that that bus crashed, but they said they don't think drugs or alcohol were a factor. reporting live in heyward, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. >> thanks so much. of course, you saw that fire engine likely reporting to the latest crash on 880 having an impact right now on traffic. this one happened about 45 minutes ago, as amy mentioned. it involves a motorcycle and several vehicles. abc 7p's morning traffic reporter alexis smith is here with the details. >> yes, and this is the fourth one of the morning really in the same area. northbound 880, i'll zoom in on the traffic maps to show you this. you can't see the backup, just

before industrial parkway that. has about a ten-minute delay approaching that scene. you're down to 11 miles an hour. let's check out some video from sky 7. this is a short time ago. so it looks like one of the vehicles, one of the cars involved in this caught fire. we know that we had a motorcycle catch fire in this as well and that's looking pretty charred. fire crews responding quickly and they very quickly swept up that debris as well so the latest from chp, as you can see, at one point we had all lanes shut down. we're down to the far right lane. that's blocked right now so things are starting to look better. switching back to the maps though, you can definitely use surface street and union city boulevard or mission boulevard for alternates. it's not terribe, kristen, like i mentioned, a ten-minute delay now that we're down to the far right lane blocked. >> thanks. this morning president trump is trying to cast his cntroversial visit to pittsburgh, pennsylvania in a positive light. he said his trip was well deceived despite widespread protests of his presence.

meantime, three more victims were laid to rest today. aches's stephanie ramos has details. >> reporter: this was the scene outside the tree of life synagogue in pittsburgh as president trump and first lady melania visited the site where 11 people were murdered as they worshipped. the synagogue's rabbi welcoming them. mourners lining the block around the synagogue to remember those who were killed in the saturday morning massacre. ♪ this land was made for you and me ♪ >> reporter: all while more than a thousand protesters demanding the president denounce white nationalism. >> he is not welcome in my synagogue and in my city. >> reporter: demonstrators carrying signs that read words matter. one neighbor shouting from her front steps. >> it's not about you! let the families grieve. >> reporter: abc news crows posted near the president and could hear the protesters, yet president trump is painting a different picture today tweeting melania and i were treated very nicely yesterday in pittsburgh.

small protest was not seen by us, staged far away. before the president's visit the mayor of pittsburgh said the trip would be ill timed, and one of the victim's family even reportedly declined to meet with the president because of his comments after the shooting that the synagogue should have had an armed guard. however, a widow of one of the victims did meet with the president. >> she said that she wanted to be there in order to show him that people wanted him there. >> reporter: today more funerals are planned as the fbi tries to learn more about the shooter. it seems as though no one really knew the killer. on social media he's been described as a demon, but in person robert bowers seemed to be more of a ghost, no known family and no apparent friends. in washington, stephanie ramos, abc news. now to developing news from the east bay. water woes at a mobile home park in heyward. a busted water main has left neighbors without water since sunday. the seniors are now being forced

to find creative ways to flush toilets and take showers. abc 7 news reporter matt keller shows us one woman's frustration. >> byob is short for bring your own bucket at eaton garden estates in heyward. residents at the community for older persons are taking back water from their pool to their homes to fill up their toilets. they have been without water since sunday because of a water main break. >> i mean, one day, two days, okay, fine, but it's already wednesday. >> reporter: linda nardi says she's going to be a nearby park or home depot to use the bathroom and is frustrated bub what she says is a lack of action and communication by the management and owner. she says it took too long to provide food and water for residents. linda wants them to provide her a place for her to shower. >> i haven't been able to go to work. i contacted my boss, and i just feel terrible. it's just getting to me. >> reporter: we got an up-close look at the problem. the main water line for the entire mobile home park has a

huge hole, and to make things more complicated the gas line sits right on top. the owner joeoeoeoeoeoeoeoeoe me and said the work will be completed by thursday or friday. a few more port-a-potties have been ordered for the residents. the owner says there will be a reduction in rent in december. in heyward, matt keller, abc 7 news. >> just within the past hour, we got word from heyward that the city is stepping in because repairs are taking too long. it says it will work safely to restore water to residents and bill the property owners for the repairs, so that new information from matt. in the east bay, a father faces charges after his 3-year-old son was shot. the boy is in critical condition following the shooting monday night on roblido drive. oakland mayor libby schaaf tells achesp news tells us the

shooting happened inside the family home where there was an unsecured firearm. your voice, your vote. less than one week before election day. a look at where key races stand. berkeley's institute of government studies final pre-election poll is now out. in the race for governor, gavin newsom holds a commanding 18-point lead over the republican john cox with 58% of likely voters supporting the lieutenant governor and former san francisco mayor. 40% support cox. in the race for u.s. senate, it's democrat versus democrat. senator dianne feinstein is vying for a fifth term and faces state senator kevin deleone. her lead though that is shrunken to nine percentage points after leading by 22 points back in july. however, 19% of voters say they are undecided or will not vote in this race. in keep propositions starting with prop 6, a yes on 6 would repeal the state's new gas tax. a no vote would keep the tax in place. right now only 40% of likely

sending is a pipe bombs to prominent democrats and other critics of president trump. additional charges could be filed. a day care fight club caught on camera. now the mother of one of the pre-schoolers is throwing punches of her own. she's suing and asking the state to step into the ring. abc's lindsey davis takes us through this st. louis showdown. >> this morning a mother is suing over troubling footage showing pre-schoolers taking part in what she calls a toddler fight club. >> reporter: in the 2016 video teachers are seen cheering the young children on. one jumps enthusiastically while the other helps students put on toy fists. one little boy caught on camera tries to break up the fight. >> get out of the way! >> the incident came to light after a 10-year-old boy captured this video on his ipad showing his 4-year-old brother allegedly being forced to fight with another student. >> they are fighting. >> he wouldn't have had his ipad

on him that day who knows if we even would have found out about this. >> reporter: the mother's mother immediately reported the incident to the school and to authorities, but while the two teachers seen in the video were fired, the state did not file any criminal charges. >> no one is being held accountable, and if i'm not a voice for my children who will be? now she is suing the day care for more than $25,000 and hopes the state will reconsider filing charges. >> the state really just gave him a slap on the hand. >> reporter: in a statement to abc news, the department of health confirms that they included their investigation in 2016 and says the day care was asked to take additional steps to ensure step were trained and knowledgeable about age-appropriate activities for children but mercile is still hoping for harder consequences. >> i don't know any parent watch their children go through this and not be upset. >> reporter: that was landsy davis reporting for abc 7 news.
