it's 23 avenue. >> a wild high-speed chase across several counties ends with a violent crash and an officer-involved shooting in oakland. good evening. thank you for joining us. i'm dan ashley. >> and i'm ama daetz. it started as a call of an armed man in vallejo, and quickly turned into ooh high speed police crash and ended with a crash on international boulevard in oakland. vallejo police fired shots at the driver. >> unsderstan answerer story. >> multiple shots at the suspect after he crashes his suv. he was taken to the hospital, but still a f details about what led up to the chase and the crash. oakland police taking the lead tonight in a chase that began 30 miles away in vallejo. >> the caller knew the person and is a very credible witness,

has known the person for a long time. >> reporter: that witness police say tipped them off. reporting that the suspect was armed and parked in front of their house. when police arrived, the suspect took off, leading police on a high-speed chase from vallejo to oakland. speeds of over 100 miles per hour. >> vehicles, a toyota 4 runner that they're chasing. he is known to carry an uzi and handguns, has full body arm. >> once on oakland streets, the driver crashed. when he tried to get out of his suv, the police fired multiple shots. he was taken to the hospital with unknown zwlirks were still kids leaving the after school program but they said everything was safe at the school. >> reporter: parker says his son goes to a nearby school. his big concern, the high-speed chase through his neighborhood. >> got to be careful with those chase scenes. i think after 30 miles if you can't stop a person, you need to regroup and find another way to do it. >> reporter: but captain horton says it's a tough call, especially when dealing with a suspect known to be heavily armed and wearing body armor.

>> of course pursuits are dangerous, but so is a person with assault rifles and pistols and putting more people in danger. so it's sort of a judgment call. it's a difficult decision that the voofrs to make. >> the police captain says one officer suffered minor injury, but no one else was hurt in the chase or the crash. they still haven't released any details about the suspect or his injuries. reporting live in oakland, anser hassan, abc 7 news. >> thank you. an unprecedented move bay 49ers cheerleader tonight. the cheerleader took a knee during the national anthem ahead of the team's game against the raiders at levi's stadium. it's believed she is the first professional cheerleader to protest this way. the cheerleader hasn't been identified. former 49ers quarterback colin kaepernick was the first to take a knee during the anthem in 2016, he said to protest police brutality. google employees across the bay area and around the world staged a massive walkout today. they accused to company of

mishandling sexual misconduct allegations against executives. it's in response to last week's "new york times" article that detailed how some executives were given multimillion-dollar severance packages. abc 7 news reporter amanda del castillo is live in mountain view with more. >> it's no secret the silicon valley has great global impact and influence. we saw that today as thousands of googlers walked out of work in the latest and seemingly largest tech industry protest yet. the silicon valley was once touted as the golden child of american industry. the tech capital is back in the headlines, this time for google's handling of sexual allegations against the so-called father of android, andy rubin. sky 7 captured this crowd of googlers pouring out and compan mountain view headquarters. an organized effort across at least 50 google campuses around the globe. >> this could not have been possible outside of google. and that's what makes me so proud of working with googlers.

11 people at a pittsburgh, pennsylvania synagogue pleaded not guilty to federal charges today. a federal grand jury indicted 46-year-old robert bowers on 44 charges, most of them carry the death penalty. in response, one local shabbat synagogue in san francisco is looking to upgrade its security. >> rabbi moshe e-mailed members, initially hoping to raise $10,000 for security improvements in the wake of the deadly tree of life shooting in pittsburgh. not long after sending that e-mail and consulting with security specialists, rabbi langer said he realized he'll actually have to raise closer to $80,000. >> when you want the get the best lox and bolts and glass and insulate room for bulletproofing, it's just a security door will cost you 10, $12,000. >> rabbi langer says the goal is to harden this target so it's

while i was on a combat patrol my c in baqubah, iraq,nned out. a rocket-propelled grenade took my arm off at the shoulder. when i came home, i felt alone. my family was around me, but i couldn't talk to them about what i'd seen and what i'd done. i remember just thinking, man, the way i am right now, i don't want to live. i was discharged from the army, and i've been working with the wounded warrior project since 2007. warriors don't have to be severely wounded to be with the wounded warrior project. we do have a lot of guys that have post-traumatic stress disorder. being able to share your story, i guess it kind of helps you wrap your mind around what did happen over there. just because you've left the military doesn't mean your life is over, because when these guys are coming home, i'm kind of leading and training them, instead of for combat, i'm leading and training them to heal.

and if i come away with anything from the wounded warrior project, it's them giving my life back. my name is norbie, and yes, i do suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder, but i'm okay.
