the 49ers. abc 7 news reporter matt keller is live in santa clara for us this morning. hi, matt. >> reporter: good morning, jessica and reggie. the lights are still on at levi's stadium. crews are still cleaning up after the big game last night. instead of the spotlight being on the 49ers win, it is now on one of the team's cheerleader. an unidentified gold rush cheerleader took a knee last night before the kickoff. they are not filming the anthem because of the protests. it became a big preliminary issue with president trump calling it unpatriotic. it appears to be the second time a 49ers cheerleader took a knee. the bay area news group reports two gold rush cheerleaders kneeled last year on christmas

eve. i reached out to the 49ers for a statement. i have yet to hear back. reporting live in santa clara, matt keller, abc 7 news. >> thank you, matt. a high-speed chase took police officers across the east bay. it started as a call about an armed man in vallejo and ended on international boulevard in oakland. that is where police fired shots at the driver. abc 7 reporter ansar has more. >> reporter: oakland police taking the lead in the chase in vallejo. >> a very credible witness who has known the suspect for a long time. >> reporter: he was armed and parked in front of the house. when police arrived, the suspect took off, leading police on a high-speed chase from vallejo to oakland with speeds over 100 miles per hour. >> a four-runner, black, that he is choosing. he is carrying an uzi and handguns.

>> reporter: the driver crashed. when he tried to get out of his suv, police fired multiple shots. the suspect was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. >> there was still leaving after-school programs. they said everything was safe at the school. >> reporter: oakland resident parker says his son goes to a nearby school. his big concern,ment high-speed chase through his neighborhood. >> you have to be careful with those chasingsment after 30 miles, if you can't stop a person, you need to regroup and find another way to do it. >> reporter: captain horton says it's a tough call, especially dealing with a suspect known to be heavily armed and wearing body armor. >> of course it is dangerous. so is a person with assault rifles and pistols putting more people in danger. it is a judgment call. ist is a difficult decision the officers have to make. >> reporter: one officer did suffer minor injuries but no one else was hurt in the crash. they haven't released the deals.

ansar hassan. a father faces child abuse charges after his son got his gun and shot himself. he is also being charged with being an ex-felon in possession of a gun. investigators say page admitted he had a gun hidden in the top of an entertainment cabinet. the boy apparently climbed into the cabinet and grabbed the semiautomatic gun. 55-year-old mark bazay left his home and his personal belongings and his car. if you know where he is, please call the sheriff's department. google employees are demanding action from the company following a day of protests. at least 50 google campuses around the world staged walkouts yesterday. >> employees accuse the company of mishandling sexual harassment allegations against executives.

yesterday employees rallied outside. here are their demands. they want an end to arbitration of harassment and discrimination cases. they also want a clear process for reporting sexual misconduct safely and anonymously. >> sometimes they are the ones above them and in charge of promoting them or in charge of their jobs. >> employees want commitment from google for equal pay and equal opportunity for women. they paid andy rubin a severance package of $90 million. take a look. this map shows the locations of google offices around the globe where employees walked out. >> the walkouts happened gradually at 11:10 local time. google ceo was not far from the new york city walkout. he was at a new york times event and addressed the movement. >> we are listening to employees. that's partly whyed is

georgia. she supports stacey abrams and she was not paid to speak last night. abc news will have coverage of the biggest races around the country at 5:00 p.m. we'll have live local election coverage throughout the evening, including abc 7 news at 9:00 p.m. on kofy tv 20 and abc 7 news at 11:00. google, apple and facebook have a message for president trump. they support the lgbt community. fortune reports the company sent a letter to the president yesterday. their response follows a "new york times" report that federal officials plan to get rid of transgender protections from existing laws. >> u.p.s. warning customers about a possible strike. bloomberg reports a contract extension for 11,000 union workers expires november 12th. a vote on final contracts will happen next week. u.p.s. is already preparing for disruption.

the last day for freight pickups is next wednesday. it can only guarantee through next thursday. the strike does not affect its package business. aaa is a apparently trying to do more than fix a flat tire for you. they are taking a big leap in the autonomous vehicle market. the san francisco business times reports aaa acquired a driverless testing facility in east bay. it is where driverless companies can test their vehicles in all types of different scenarios. they have 10 facilities in the u.s. but the largest is in concord at the former naval weapons, that's the one aaa acquired. this will help them stay close to developments in the autonomous vehicle industry. not a good sign for a bay area football when the two biggest story from last night wasn't the actual game. several fights in the stands. one of them involved a 49ers fan

beating up another. violence common when these two teams match up. they made several arrests for public intoxication and assault. >> and you saw the other big story earlier this hour. a 49er cheerleader kneeling for the national anthem. as for the actual game, 49ers smoked the raiders, 49-3. third-strange quarterback nick mullins dominated his nfl debut. by the way, this is the last battle of the bay ever as the raiders are set to move of to las vegas last year. >> good for him. he threw three tds in his nfl debut. that is the first time it's ever happened in 49ers history. >> yeah, he looked good. bragging rights for the rest of time. >> during the game, twitter

wait to get past the crash scene. it sounds like they're having trouble getting a tow truck. 880 slowly starting to fill in in the south bay. we have not had any major issues so far today. and here's some drive times. all in the green s. southbound 101, 13 minutes. castro valley to the maze, 13 minutes. and 101 between 280 and 680 and highway 85, that's also in the green at 12 minutes. this is a really bizarre story. passengers on a shuttle heading to the queen mary in long beach got scared. cell phone video shows them trying to climb out of the shuttle last night. they thought the driver was trying to kidnap them in what was supposed to be a 10-minute drive became a 30-minute one. one driver asked the passenger to stop and the driver did not respond. the driver said he wanted to find a safe place to stop. he is now charged with kidnapping.

weird. a new cannabis-based medication that treats epilepsy about to hit the market. fda has final approval to epidiolex to develop two types of the diseases that develop in early childhood. it can be described for other conditions. it is not cheap. the company that makes it says it will make $32,000 a year. from 7 on your side, a warning about black & decker hammer drills. the company is recalling more than a half million of them because the handles can break off while you're drilling. it affects 630,000 hammer drills sold from january of 2010 until july of this year. black & decker says the side handles may slip or break off while in use. the company has 11 reports of accidents. one person reported a bad handle caused a shoulder injury. customers should stop using the drill immediately and contact black and decker for a new ham >> next, the 7 things you need

francisco to deal with the ongoing hotel worker strike. >> it has lasted a month. there are fears that it is starting to have an effect on the tourism revenue. amy hollyfield live for us at the marriott marquis in san francisco. amy. >> reporter: hi, reggie. well, the focus this morning on what's happening at city hall. workers tell me they plan to go. they think it's great that city leaders are getting involved. they plan to go to the special hearing that has been called. they have been on this picket line for about a month. workers from seven marriott managed hotels in san francisco and one in san jose. they are fighting for better pay. today they plan to tell the supervisors how they have to work two jobs to make ends meet. they say a large group will be at city hall today. >> we will march down to the civic center. the mayor will present herself.

side >> a man shph side. in the east bay, the family of a man shot and killed by open police officers is react to go body camera video just released by the department. >> get your hands off the gun! >> oakland police officers shot and killed joshua pollack in march. we are not showing all the body camera video because it is graphic. a lawyer for pollack's mother said the gun was near him but he was lying down while shot. >> at no time did he get up, make an aggressive move toward anyone. >> pollack's family is pursuing legal action against the police department. in a statement, the department says, the oakland police department acknowledges any officer-involved shooting is heartbreaking for all involved and impacts our entire community. officials said they can't comment on the case because of an internal investigation. national park rangers searching for a man who ran away from a historic rifle range.

firefighters posted this video of the blaze late wednesday night. a ranger tried to chase down the man, but he escaped into the bushes. the coast guard and chp helicopters went to look for him but no luck. the building that was set on fire was also broken into. >> the 44-year-old man accused of killing 11 people at a pittsbu pittsburgh synagogue is pleading not guilty to federal charges. >> a synagogue in the bay area is trying to raise thousands of dollars to improve its security. the rabbi e-mailed asking for donations. he said after consulting with with security specialists, he realized he needs to raise about $80,000. >> when you were the best locks, bolts, the best glass and you want to insulate a room for bulletproofing, it's just a security door will cost you $10,000, $12,000. >> the rabbi said attackers may be deterred from targeting the

security if it has better security. it is your voice, your vote. jerry brown in the bay area on prop 6. that is the gas tax repeal. he pushed for an increase in gas tax to raise money for road and bridge repair, transit improvements. up until now the governor has remained silent on issues in this upcoming election. >> president trump is stepping up his handling of his hard-line immigration rhetoric. >> he will deny asylum claims for anyone entering the country illegally. pledging to house migrants in tent cities along the border. under the law, the troops are only supposed to offer l logistical support for border patrol. for the first time he said u.s. troops could open fire on migrants at the border if rocks are thrown.
