danger. abc 7 news meteorologist lisa argen is here with more. >> good morning to you thap the winds have been kicking up since 1:00 a.m. appear gusts over the east bay hills are up to 50 miles an hour. so the red flag warning in effect through the north bay mountains, east bay valleys, about 1,000 feet the east bay hills until 6:00 tomorrow. north to northeast wind 15 to 30 miles an hour are common but the gusts up to 60-mile-per-hour certainly potential. that brings the relative humidity down to between 8 and 18%. wiltzius dry fuels that could spread fires rapidly so we watch this carefully for you. as a result we are looking at warm weather throughout today but changes for tomorrow. you can see up in knoxville creek wind gusting to 33 miles an hour higher elevations 15 to 20 miles an hour. it's in the 50s for most of you. 54 in vallejo and san jose. 50 in novato. a clear start to the day.

air quality good in the north bay and inland east bay. moderate elsewhere and plenty of sunshine out there. so throughout the afternoon numbers will climb quickly by 2:00 we are well into the 80s over the east bay hills. 70s around the bay. but temperatures will certainly max out in re from 5 to 15 degrees above average. still mild weather. we will talk about the second half of week which is trending cooler in a few minutes. >> all lanes back open on 880 near the san jose international airport this morning. last night a grass fire spreading into trees turned the rush out into a nightmare. look at this video from an abc 7 news viewer of the highway patrol having to close all southbound lanes. officers allowed stranded drivers to make u turns to get off the freeway. the lanes rehoped last night. in sonoma county firefighters battled this building fire before 9:00 last night. half an acre of grass burned.

this is video from an observation camera set up to spot wildfires. the press democrat reports that the firefighters saved a home but a pool cabana was destroyed. a new class of firefighters just learned to fight firefighters as the teachers planned for the red flag wagener. eric thomas went to the training center and learned this is the new norm. >> today's lesson plane make five inch high pressure pressure hose bend to your will. the training is tough on mind and body. >> i thought i was in pretty good shape come in. and you know, i was. but they had challenged us every single day, both in the gym and on the training grounds. >> while the recruits train for a structure fire the teachers plan for a weekend much high fire danger. a red flag warning runs through early sunday morning. >> we expect weather conditions, high heat and high wind to be

1:30 yesterday morning. the girl said the men drove her to an unknown location, sexually assaulted her and threw her out of the van. she was able to make it home eventually. the van is described as black with tinted windows. the time is 5:06. san jose police need you to be on the look out for this woman and two children tp he they say she abducted them during a visit. a social worker was with the mother and her children in san jose yesterday amp. the social worker took the daughter to the rest rom when they returned, she said the mother was gone with her son. while the social worker was looking for them, the daughter also went missing. woegt children are believed to be with the mother. police say she may be driving a gray minivan or suv. a b.a.r.t. train cleaner is being called a hero for saving a passenger's life. the worker jumped into action, performing cpr on the man found

unconscious. as abc 7's katie utehs reports the train cleaner says he was in the right place at the right time. >> i wasn't supposed to there. >> vincent cleans b.a.r.t. trains at the enfortunate lynn. . on sunday night he picked up an extra shift at the dublin station. >> one of my coworkers came down and started screaming, someone is dead. >> instinctually vincent rushed to the first car. >> i can't say what made me take action. i seen him and seen hi eyes in the back of his head. i jumped in there and had to do something. >> the 20-year-old man was unconscious his lips blue. >> i picked him up and place hildeman on the floor. >> how long he performed cpr. >> straight down straight down. >> he was unsure. >> i was focused on him at that time. i feel something touch me and say do you want me to take over? i said no i got it. for some reason i felt connected with him. >> it was a b.a.r.t. officer she

so we've got this wildland urban interface area. we all love our parks and the best way to keep them healthy is to come in and manage them. hi my name is eileen theile. i'm acting fire chief for east bay regional park district's fire department. what keeps me up at night is that people have a short memory. they'll forget the oakland hills firestorm that happened in 1991. we lost well over 2000 homes, 26 people lost their lives, we really need to stay vigilant especially with climate change. this area, california, is a fire prone landscape. the one thing that we can control is the fuels. east bay regional regional park district partners with pg&e to annually thin or remove more than 1000 acres of hazardous vegetation. pg&e is accelerating its wildfire risk reduction program, pruning around overhead electrical lines, reducing the fuel loads underneath those electrical lines to help reduce the spread of wildfire. what we're really doing is making the property that's adjacent to their homes safer. pg&e, east bay regional park district,and our communities, we're all in this together to keep people safe.

51 in oakland. 58 in san francisco. 50 in santa rosa. usually we have plenty of 40s this time of year. it's cool ner parts of the south bay and east bay this morning do you to clear skies. but check out vacaville, 23 degrees warmer than yesterday at this hour. this gives you the indication of we are we are headed. a warm day today. if we measure the moisture in the air right now at 6:00, 92% relative humidity right now. this is when we get the highest relative humidity in the early morning. but already it's drying out in the north bay. so the winds and the warmer temperatures will certainly have affect on the dry air. getth dryer through the day. by noontime the relative humidity in napa is 16%. look at east bay hills and the color coding here. as that darker shade comes into effect. . that is the dryer air. and then by midnight tonight you notice that the relative humidity begins to cover a bit into the east bay. but in higher he feels where the wind has been blowing and the temperatures are warm you'll notice that it's going to take

some time for the relative humidity in the fields to recover and get moisture in the air. as we look at highlights, the fire danger is eed for the weekend. sunny and warmer this afternoon. daylight saving time ends so that gives us an extra hour of sleep tonight. that certainly something to look forward to. clocking the winds throughout the day notice the color coding here with the blue. the east and the north bay, the strongest winds and then through the evening hours and the overnight hours we still have the gusty winds. certainly along the coast, and the direction out of the north northeast, certainly a recipe for concern. as we go through tomorrow you notice the winds dial back. so we fall wak an hour tonight. the sun ris are rose this morning 7:37 and tomorrow at 6:38. certainly looking at shorter days and the warmer day today, cooler day tomorrow near 80 inland. monday little change. and then tuesday finally getting slightly cooler air in the

highway patrol joins us on the phone. good morning, officer hammer. we understand a driver who was speeding could be to blame for the mess. walk us through what happened. >> yes, good morning. so approximately 3:40 this morning we had a driver in a ford expedition travel northbound 880 approaching 23rd avenue. the driver a 28 female from hayward lost control of the ford expedition. the expedition yshd crashed into support beams holding girders on the new 23rd avenue overpass being constructed. the girders crashed across all four lanes of northbound 880. the driver was transported for non-life threatening injuries. we kurmt from 880 northbound shut down with traffic being diverted at 23rd avenue. >> and we. >> and currently at this time we don't have an estimated time of opening. >> and officer hammer i'm looking at some of the images. it's pretty incredible the driver was able to essentially

check of the weather now with our meteorologist lisa argen tracking life doppler 7 for us. good morning to you. the red areas behind me highlighted for elevated fire danger throughout the day today. for the north bay mountains and east bay hills with winds right now 15 to 30 miles an hour. but the gusts could be well above that 50 to 60-mile-per-hour. bringing the relative humidity down. we call the fuels with lower moisture in the air that can spread fires if anything is ignited we watch that for you. and we see the winds in the north bay are gusting to 34 miles an hour. knoxville creek. 11 to 15 miles in the north bay. but raft hour mount doebl o has gusts at 54. 58 in frist. 5 a in half moon bay you can see how clear it is in san francisco. numbers well into the 70s along the shoreline today. the air quality not so great on the coast in the central bay.

moderate air quality in the central bay the santa clara valley and temperatures in the 60s by 10:00 and the oranges indicate the warmer air moving from the upper willings elevations with the brezy winds. >> thanks. new this morning fire officials are investigating a fire at castro valley high school. flames broke out on the roof between the administration building and 200 hall. the fire was out before 7:30 last night thankfully no one was hurt. new details about a deadly crashed that knocked out power to thousands of customers in santa clara. police say the driver 45-year-old francis was speeding when he lost control and hit a power pole on sand thomas expressway in he will cammen oi real. it cut power to 2,700 customers. the driver died but no one else was hurt. more than 200 marriott works in oakland go back to work. the workers ratified an agreement to end the strike yesterday.

they've been calling for better pay for more than a month. this agreement does not impact n san francisco marriott locations. those workers remain on strike. abc 7 news anchor dion lim talked to employees about how this affects them and their families. >> reporter: for the past 30 days julian has been on the picket line fighting forefair wages so he and his wife of 13 years can just in his words live a normal life. >> i don't feel like my wife and i can afford to have children in this city that i would be able to really afford that and to be able to raise them in the way i would want to raise them. >> julian has been a bellman at the w hotel for eight years and makes just over minimum wage plus tips. he claims to work 28 or 32 hour shifts to mick ends meet. story not unlike the union members who work at marriott
