during the last midterm at this point, 20 million had voted. reporting live at the capitol, stephanie ramos, abc7 news. >> thank you. one of the choices we'll be making, next governor of california. both candidates spent their days before the election here in the bay area. >> one will be casting their vote here this morning. that's why abc7 news reporter amy hollyfield is live for us in larkspur. >> reporter: gavin newsom lives in larkspur. he'll be voting at the masonic c auditorium in larkspur. he had his final campaign rally last night. he had big names there including governor brown and camilla harris. his opponent, john cox, held rallies in berkeley and sacramento yesterday. both candidates talked about immigration and the caravan headed towards the u.s. border.

supervising. san mateo is one of five counties in the state that has no polling place for today's election. voters are instead required to mail ballots or drop them off at the election office.% the focus is on making sure the ballots are handled properly and it's available in english, chinese and spanish. high school students across the country will march from the classrooms to the polls today. the future coalition is organizing the walk out to vote. this is video of other walkouts, students who are part of the coalition have organized recently. this movement follows the deadly parkland school shooting. plan to participate in s in the the walkout at 10:00 this morning. the salesforce tower in san francisco displayed a unique message. the video board at the top of the skyscraper showed looping video of a blue wave with the words "vote for tomorrow." it was scheduled -- rather, it was created by local artist jim campbell whose work has been featured on the tower in the past. several companies are making it easy for you to get to the

polls. ford go bike will let you check out bikes for free today. ride share provider lyft giving 50% off all rides to the polls. uber is giving a discount on a single ride to your polling place. in san francisco, scooter riders on skip get a $5 credit for showing they scooted to the polls. if you use scoot, you'll get a free ride. lime scooters and bikes can be ridden for free both to and from the polls today. as a reminder, the polls open at 7:00 this morning and close at 8:00 tonight. if you have a vote by mail ballot, you can drop it off at any polling place by 8:00 p.m. you can also mail it as long as it's postmarked today and received by friday. most mail-in ballots need extra postage, so don't forget to sign the back of the envelope as well. make sure you have enough stamps on it. stay with abs 7 for live election coverage. abc news will have the biggest

it's bone dry out there. with these light offshore breezes, fire danger could help at 10:00 tomorrow. for solano and in lake county, but it's broader than that. it takes up the entire sacramento valley and goes up to the base of tahoe. high fire danger there. temperatures mid to upper 70s for the central valley. let's take a look at tahoe where they're making snow at night, but during the day, we're going to be in the 60s till the 40s show up thursday and 50s for friday through monday. >> mike, thank you. the man accused of sending pipe bombs to more than a dozen democrats is due in court. cesar sayock sent more than 14 packages to prominent democrats. he was transferred from florida to new york where he faces federal charges. prosecutors are expected to ask for him to be held without bail. two landlords will pay $2.25

million to illegally rent apartments in san francisco on airbnb. darren and valerie lee turned 14 apartments across the city that amounted to two hotel rooms for about a year. in 2014 they were ordered to stop using the apartments as short-term rentals. they continued to do it despite the injunction. they're now barred from offering short-term rentals in any of their buildings for at least seven years. some san francisco students who aren't even old enough to vote will be working the polls on this election day. >> the department of elections hired 600 students as parts of a program that's been around for years. here's abc7 news. >> reporter: nathan tam, a student at lincoln high in san francisco said it was his economics teacher who hi to be e of 60 and mpes, i know that we -- we know that this is something that is going to affect us in the future and so that's why we're kind of interested in it and working the

polls. >> repter: of theigh school students hired, 500 of them are from the san francisco unified school district. they begin their day at 6:00 in the morning and stay until 9:00 p.m. >> they're there serving voters. having voters sign in, issuing voters ballots, collecting ballots the voters voted on, making sure to offer assistance to voters. >> reporter: he was intoed to the program when he was 16. he enjoyed it so much, he decided to eventually work for the department of elections. >> miss a day of school, learn about about the elections process, your history teacher is so proud of you. and it's an awesome way to just get out in the community and see how things are done. >> reporter: the midterm elections will be a lasting memory for 18-year-old rebecca kav ana cavanaugh. it will be the first time she votes and, secondly, she'll be spending at day as a poll worker at city hall. >> i'm working for my city and i get to be a part of the process that i always hear about and see it from a different perspective.

millbrae, 67. low to mid-60s along the coast today. not quite as breezy as yesterday. 70 again in san francisco. we'll have mid to upper 70s, about 75 to 79 through the north bay valleys. along the east bay shore, richmond, 71. oakland, 74. fremont joining you as some of the warm spots. as we move into the valleys, we'll be nearing 80 once again. some areas near the upper 70s and close. tonight, low to mid-40s in our deepest valleys. let's take a look at my accuweather seven-day forecast. no, it's not groundhog day. it's not november 2nd. it's november 6th. you can see a slow easing of the warmth as we head throughout the rest of the forecast. we are looking at light volume so far this morning. no major incidents, so we are enjoying it while it lasts. here's a live look at the north bay. southbound 101, not any

congestion through san rafael. we're not seeing any issues and our drive times are looking great, too. we just have one little slow spot, westbound 580, tracy to dublin, you're in the yellow but it's not terrible. that's ticking up to 39 minutes. westbound highway 4, antioch to concord, still in the ground at 13. southbound 101, nice and light through san rafael to san francisco, in the green, only 15 minutes. new details emerging about amazon's search for a city to house its second or maybe third headquarters. 7-eleven may be trying to follow in the foot steps of amazon. here's this morning's "techbytes." >> awe split decision from amazon. >> the company reportedly chosen two locations for its second quarters. "the new york times" says one is in queens new york. the other is in crystal city, virginia. >> each location will house about 25,000emplees. and 7-eleven is testing the cashier-less trend. the company is trying out a mobile app at a store in dallas.

uk, that's the day it was declared over on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. another sign the housing market could be slowing down. condos and townhouses are down by 23% this year. the year-to-year median sales price has also dropped for the first time in more than six years. in september a condo costs just over $366,000. that is a big drop from its peak of $430,000 in july. the san francisco marin food bank is already gearing up for thanksgiving. foster forms delivered te turke. the food bank says some turkeys will go to large families. others will go to community dinners. the food bank hoping to get an additional 1,000 turkeys. you can help by either dropping off a turkey at the food bank or by giving money to the food bank.

bridge. steph curry's annual golf tournament could be on the move. tcp has been host but the chronicle reports lake merced is in the running to host the tournament. curry's tournament is tentatively scheduled for next september. a pod of humpback whales put on quite a show in norway. >> you'll see fish jumping from the water. there you go. watch as these whales seem to come out of nowhere. here it is in slow motion. a pod of six whales explode from below, gobbling up as many fish as they can. whales use this tactic to capture a lot of fish at once. the stunning slow motion video gives you a great look at how they're able to use teamwork.
