breaking news in the south bay where an investigation is now underway in san jose after a fire left several people without a home. thanks for joining us. i'm jessica castro. the fire reportedly began after some sort of domestic dispute in one of those homes near valley medical center and at least one person is hurt. david joins us live from the scene with details. >> to give you another idea of where we are, we're just two blocks away from san jose city college. before 9:00 this morning, 911 operators dispatch people. got a frantic call from a woman who said she was trapped ton second floor of the apartment building here. the san jose fire departm minutes. a woman was trapped by smoke from a unit next to where the fire was. responding units went into

rescue mode and proceeded to bring the trapped woman out. they were quickly rescueded along with a dog and they were ok okay. but the cause of the fire is now under investigation and maybe suspicious. we talk today a witness, a construction worker who saw the flames and then called 911. he described someone who quickly ran out of the building challenged by saying why did you do that that? >> seen the smoke coming out, a guy coming out, shorts, naked, shirtless and my bud duh ri di ran that way. i called cop, fire department, police department. >> it sounds some sort of domestic dispute in the upstairs unit. who and what were involved is still under investigation. it is a pd matter, but from that, we then had the report of a fire in the unit. if those are connected, we're going to find that out. >> pd matter means police department matter. the witness says the shirtless man he saw running from the

building then jump ed the fence and quickly disappeared. the fire was brought under control as you can see here in sky 7 video. there is water damage to the unit below. this is a breaking news story. we're going to continue staying ton the scene and we'll update you with new information. live in san jose, david louie, abc 7. in the last half hour, president trump wrapped up a news conference at the white house and in a stunning display, he listed off the republican congressman and women who he says didn't embrace him enough on the campaign trail, suggesting it's their fault they lost last night. it's just one of serl moments making headlines this hour. here's jeanine with more from capitol hill. >> that's enough. that's enough. >> mr. president, i have one other -- >> president trump growing combat i with reporters even as republicans said they'd like to see rhetoric turned down. >> very hostile.

>> in missouri, josh hawley unseated claire mccaskill in a state that president trump won. in florida, democrat bill nelson not giving up his seat without a fight to rick scott. he's now calling for a recount, but scott is laooking ahead. sxwl now that that campaign is behind us, that's where we're going to leave it. >> democrats took control of more governor's seats in about a half a dozen states, but in georgiay abrams is trailing, she said she won't concede to a republican opponent until all the votes are counted. abc new, capitol hill. >> right now, some contests are still too close to call including the arizona state race between kristen sinema and martha mcsally. election officials say there are still hurricandreds of thousand votes to be tabulated. the candidate who wins there

will be b the first female senator from anthony. in montana, jon tester now projected to win his senate race against matt rosendale. president trump and vice president pence made several trips to montana to campaign for him, but tester who wins there. republicans have retained control of the senate. the democrats lost two seats down to 43. the gop gained two seats and now has 51 seat. a handful of seats are still to be determined. meanwhile, dianne feinstein won her race here in california with quite a significant lead. 97% of precincts reporting. she was up 67%. of course he congratulated her last night in his concession speech last night. he lost despite the endorsement of the state democratic party, which was a clear message that party leaders wanted a more combative approach to handling the trump administration. all memberses of the house of

representatives were up for re-election and here are the latest results. democrats expected to gain 28 seats bringing their total up to 223 seats in the house. the gop will lose 27 seats. that's down to 201 seats. the results are still a toss up in a few highly contested districts and you can find all the information and result t on our website, abc 7 news.com. gavin newsome is set to be california's next governor. he beat john cox with more than half of the votes. and let's take a look at those numbers. 59-41%. newsome gave his victory speech last night around 10:00 after john cox called him to concede. in san jose, just over a dozen votes separate the two votes on the city council. there are still mail in and visional ballots left to count

and we're expecting to get an yun date on this race this evening. back in 2014, nguyenguyenguyenge espraza by about 20 votes. a majority of voters saying no to prop 6 and that means california's 12 cents per gallon gas tax increase will remain in place. the money will fund road, highway and transit projects across the state. voters saying now to proposition 10. meanwhile, in san francisco, prop c passed. that means there will be a tax for big businesses to fund homeless programs. and of course, those are just some of the propositions. you can find a complete election result on our website. and share your voting pride by sharing your pictures of your voting with your i voted stickers on social media. saw a lot of those yesterday. use the hash tag abc 7 now and

speaker in january. >> thank you. now on to developing news. a growing memorial in mountain view where a young woman died after being hit by a google bus. we are learning new details about the crash. mike keller joins us live. matt? >> jessica, the spokesperson told me they are still investigate iing this crashingi but did confirm the victim was a google employee and we're getting confirmation on the identity. here's the picture taken by the the police department from the scene. this took place on monday night at 6:45. this morning, flowers and balloons were pras placed at the corner of this very busy inter. hundreds if not thousands of employees walk during this area. a google bus hit a woman in her 20s. a spokesperson e mayed me and identified her as emily hong. officers arrived and did cpr, but she died at the scene. police say this area is of

did it again. the victim is still in the hospital. police believe it stem med from an attempted robbery. pg&e is warning counties that it may cut off power because the extreme fire danger that starts tonight in lake, napa and sonoma counties. they started sending text, e-mails and phone calls to affected residents warning them of the shut off. power could be shut off tonight through tomorrow. gusty winds and dry vegetation is causing the extreme fire danger. today, the festival of lights. you don't want to miss the display that will really take your beth breath away. also, what is happening here. the sea at the santa clara registrar that may leave your scratching your head. zblnc . are you getting used to this warm weather? hard to believe it's november and we're still talking about temperatures 8 to 11 degrees above average. i'l tell you

well we start with a look, we're looking about 20 miles across from this view, but the humidity is 24%. the winds aren't there quite yet. so get out and enjoy some really tranquil, peaceful weather if you will. yes, i know we need rain. of course i know, i watch it every day and i keep looking for it. it's just not here. so it's not something we should worry about. just enjoy what we can and once the rain gets here we can all rejoice and hopefully helping the drought. morgan hill, 72.

the warm spots, here's a look from the east bay hills. not much in the way of wind out there. once again, but it is already bone dry. it's just going to get worse when the wind picks up tonight. until then, sunny and mild. breezy at the coast starting at 3:00 this afternoon. pretty calm for the rest of us and we have a wait for rain. talk about temperatures. now the coast, you'll keep warming, but u once the breeze kicks in, your temperatures will drop down a little bit towards the end of the afternoon. mid to upper 60s and falling after 3:00. we'll have san francisco in the upper bay, look at those inland temperatures. see how it breaks down by showing you, isn't it guilt or innocence? gorgeous? look at the shark tank. a little color in the trees. we see a little touch of fall in that. we don't see anytime the forecast until the sun sets. 60s. 73 inland. very nice, try to find a cloud during lunch. you can see tezes, but the

rest is the low to mid-70s. tomorrow morning, we're going to have micro climates because of the winds. going to be in the upper 30s in then once you get up 1,000 feet, in the mid-50s to low 60s. you can see the winds moving from and also under a red flag warning for the same time. calistoga, gusting tomorrow morning. they taper a bit during the day, but once the sun sets, they ramp back up, getting near 40. then they start to taper by the time we get to trid trid morning then the fire danger's over. let's talk temperatures then. they'll drop maybe a degree or two tomorrow. i mean, you're not going to notice it. friday, saturday and sunday, maybe another degree or two. that seems to be the trend. veterans day and into tuesday, still a little bit warmer than average with those 60s and 70s. today may be a last day of 80s.

welcome back. i want to show you this beautiful scene in india. a city in northern india lit more than 1,000 clay oil lamps. this is video showing those lamps along the banks of the river. this is on the eve of the hindu festival the festival of lights. the nearby city set the old record in 2016. they would over 150,000 latmps, so this time, they doubled that. it's beautiful to see. >> impressive in all aspects. number, size and color. amazing. majestic. >> it's great weather. >> super warm again today. mid-60s. rest of us, mid-70s to near 80s. >> i'm loving it. thanks for joining us here on
