will push smoke into other parts of the state. spare the air alerts. air quality advisory. wood burning ban, as it should be. temperatures will be held back a little bit by the smoke. waking up in the low 30s to upper 40s this morning. so there's smoke and frost developing in our deepest valleys. 54 to 59 by 7:00. i issue wish i had better news. we'll try to find rain next week. next, i will bring in alexis and talk about the commute. >> good morning, mike. taking a look at a very smoky bay bridge toll plaza. no surprise there. the smoke and haze under the lights there. overall, looking okay. we have a stackup in the cash lanes. no metering lights yet. until 5:to. maybe a little bit later with the veterans day holiday as well. a quick check of our traffic

maps. our biggest issue is the full closure of 880, oakland and 23rd. they should wrap it up any time now. it was scheduled to wrap at 5:00 a.m. as long as you're not in a big rig, take 580 as an alternate. the death toll continues to rise in the camp fire still burning in butte county. >> six more bodies were recovered bringing the number of deaths to 29. that means the camp fire is now tied for the deadliest fire in state history. officials are now working to identify the victims. there is fear the number could go up again with more than 200 people still missing. the camp fire has burned more than 100,000 acres, nearly 175 square miles since it broke out thursday morning. we know it is the most destructive fire in state history, destroying 6700 homes and businesses, including more than 60 homes belonging to first responders.

>> all of them are still at the job. i have deputy sheriffs out there that lost everything. all they had was the uniform they were wearing and the patrol vehicle they were driving. >> unfortunately, still a lot more work to get done. the camp fire is threatening 15,000 buildings this morning. at last check, it was only 25% contained. this is an updated map of the camp fire. the majority of the town of paradise is gone. you can see how close it is burning to chico. crews try to control the perimeter. we want to give you perspective on the size of the camp fire. take a look at this. if the camp fire was burning here in the bay area, it would stretch from san francisco all the way down the peninsula past san mateo. sit terrifying. look at this video from the inferno in paradise. forest glen recorded this on his cell phone. >> tens of thousands of people remain under evacuation orders.

many who did escape are in evacuation centers, including the butte county fairgrounds. anser sun spoke with some. >> reporter: it has been a tough past few days. a few days ago they were all living at home. now this is home. rvs along the fence. some living in trailers. this small group of tents. this is a family of 12. assuming these families are thankful to be alive, but so many of these families know they are still a long way from home. like 60-year-old jackie. she was at home recovering, still weak from two chest surgeries. the moment came to evacuate. the only option, she would have to drive her own car if she wanted to manage to stay alive. how did you manage? >> it was terrifying. >> reporter: she had only 20 minutes to grab her stuff and get out. her grandson was in the car behind her helping to navigate

of los angeles are evacuated. calabasas, hidden hills, malibu. >> new drone video gives us a glimpse at some of the destruction. many homes in his neighborhood burned. a family from agoura hills returned to their mobile home park and found their home destroyed. they searched through the rubble and found a safe which held their most prized possessions. >> some of these things is important to us. worst scenario if this is all we can save after seeing all the houses burned to ashes. >> the father's citizenship papers and the son's graduation photos are among the items saved. turning to a fire in the east bay. firefighters put out a fire outside of a uc berkeley fraternity house on piedmont avenue. a large vehicle, possibly an rv exploded last night. firefighters kept the fire from

spread to go other vehicles and buildings. it is unclear exactly what caused the explosion. on the peninsula, police believe an arsonist set two fires in palo alto. >> one was at the old couple padres bar and grill. investigators believe he set a jeep on fire near el camino real saturday afternoon. less than an hour later, a fire was reported at this shut erred restaurant around the corner. he may have been squatting inside. the restaurant closed 10 years ago. meanwhile in the north bay, new homes in santa rosa could soon have a new requirement and that's to be equipped to operate without natural gas. the city council directed staff members to draft an all electric ready ordnance. it focuses only on residential construction projects. it will help cut carbon

wildfire in state history. flames have described 6500 homes, some belonging to first responders. the fire scorched 111,000 acres, nearly 175 square miles. it is only 25% contained. as abc 7 news reporter carlos saucedo reports, they have a tough task identifying victims. >> reporter: in paradise, officials discovered six more bodies. it is getting worst by each day. thousand of people have lost everything, including first responders. hot spots burning throughout paradise illuminating what would otherwise be total darkness in this town without power. six more bodies were recovered in the area, bringing the death toll to 29. as sheriff's officials comb through the vast fields of debris, there's fear more bodies could be found. >> these are challenging investigations and autopsies

because you are often dealing with the remains of humans who have been burned. in some cases you may only have bones. >> reporter: which makes identification that much more challenging. >> there is nothing left. all my neighbors except one is gone. >> reporter: gary green stayed behind to protect his home in comcal. one of those dead is his friend. >> she lived up the street from me and went to church with us. yeah, she didn't get out. >> referee: firefighters from around the state, including the san francisco strike team, spent the day working to contain the fire. >> making sure that things are completely extinguished. we don't want any new flare-ups. >> referee: of the thousands of homes lost, dozens belonging to firefighters and officers themselves. >> i was talking to one deputy. he lost his house, lost everything. and he said i wouldn't want to be anywhere else. i need to be out here lping. >> despite these difficult circumstances, this community is resilient. >> reporter: but with more than

200 people still missing, there's fear that that death toll could rise even higher. reporting in chico, carlos saucedo, abc 7 news. it is certainly the fear. smoky air has really just been sitting over the bay area as the camp fire continues. >> the current air quality is still considered unhealthy in most places. abc 7 jobina fortson has a message from officials. jobina? >> reporter: yeah. good morning. it seems like no matter where you are in the bay area, you see people walking around with these n-95 masks on. when you go to the store and try and get one, youen can't find them. that's because a lot of plates are out of stock right now. we did manage to find some at cole hardware. they have six stores, some in oakland and san francisco. officials recommend these if you spend time outdoors. but they don't work for men with beards or young children.

they have information on their website about best practices with this poor air quality and a map showing facilities with areas that filter air like libraries and museums. much of the region's air quality is still considered unhealthy to breathe right now. >> as soon as the smoke started collecting in the air, as soon as visibility went down and you see the haze in the sky. >> reporter: like we have been saying this morning, the poor air quality is looking like it's going to be sticking around for the remainder of the week. reporting live in vista point, jobina fortson, abc 7 news. >> thank you, jobina. >> more stories of people desperately trying to escape as flames from the camp fire approached. more than five shelters have filled up with evacuees who don't know what's next. many left their homes without minutes to spare. >> scary trying to go through the fire when it's all around you.

homeowner who said he's thankful for all the people helping the community. sadly, some people have had to leave pets behind as they have evacuated. redwood city fire department posted these photos on twitter after one of their crews found seven dogs and a litter of cats at a home in the fire zone. firefighters gathered the pets together and made sure they were fed. meanwhile, governor brown is still waiting for word on whether president trump will honor his request for a major disaster declaration. >> we are requesting presidential declaration funding coming from the federal government. of course there will be efforts from the state government as well. it's a time to pull together and work through this tragedy. >> the governor's request yesterday came a day after president trump blamed gross mismanagement for the wildfires. the president said there was no reason for the fires except for poor forest management. they said our focus is on the californians impacted by responders.

stunning. we have seen footage of fire natos from northern california fires. this one is coming from the woolsey fire. the crews took cover when they realized exactly what was happening. this was right near pacific coast highway. more stunning video shows a rancher trying to escape from the fire as the wind blows flames and sparks onto the road. this is in malibu also along the pacific coast highway. in other news this morning, two navy pilots are safe after crashing in the pill feigns sea. it happened overnight northeast of the philippines. the tphaefp says they were in a combat jet from the aircraft carrier uss ronald regan when it had some sort of mechanical problem. a rescue plane was able to get the pilots out of the water and back on the ship quickly. this is the second crash involving aircraft from the uss ronald regan in less than a month. catholic activists demanding change in the wake of multiple sex abuse scandals.

some advocates say it's not enough. some are demanding names of all accused clergy be released. people in napa will come together today to remember a vintage high graduate killed in a thousand oaks shooting. >> alaina housing was shot and killed at borderline bar & grill last week. housley was a freshman at pepperdine university. she was an honor student and athlete. >> knowing like the way that she passed away to me is really hard. >> there needs to be new laws or things put in place to make sure people who have guns shouldn't have them if they're not mentally stable. >> later this morning the hero foundation is holding a march. it is scheduled for 10 at napa

memorial stadium. she will be laid to rest wednesday. a homeless man in australia is being hailed a hero after he intervened in a terror attack in melbourne. >> i picked it up and i ran through the trolley straight at him. >> michael rogers shoved a shopping trolley in australia. social media led with talk of the by stander. a go fund me account was started and it raised more than $130,000. rogers is being hailed and rewarded for his actions but insists he isn't a hero. lime is pulling one of its scooter models off city streets. faulty scooters made by the chinese manufacturer oki. they would not say how many are in the u.s. the company says the recalled scooters are being replaced with newer, safer scooters.
